I'm hearing that she's going to release an album and do a live before the hiatus in 2012, much like Utada back in 2010.

I think Maki was like "I want to leave" and Avex was like "Wait, before you leave we got to make some more money"

I just hope she is happy recording her last album and doing her last tour and she's not being obligated :no

utada's hiatus was expected eventually, lol. but now....maki?! :rubeyes i'm really surprised. i understand, though, considering how the past year must have been for her. hopefully she'll come back in the very near future! good luck, maki. :(

i would expect avex to have maki release something before she leaves, though. oh avex. :grumpy :laugh

I feel sad about this. I hope she gets better - I'm speculating she's not emotionally well to go beyond 2012, at least for now.

awww, sad to hear about Maki's hiatus. i was just getting into her as a musician too (never followed her H!P stuff). but if that's what she wants, i hope for the best! :)

This is bittersweet news.

I'm sad that she's going on hiatus, and even a little worried since it sounds like she's not even sure if she's going to come back, but I'm also glad that she's at least doing something for herself.

I hope that if she finds happiness, it will provide a balance to her life and that she'll be reinvigorated and want to return to music. She has to put herself and her needs first, of course, and I totally support that, but there is also a definite value and purpose in being a performer and I hope she rediscovers it.

I'm actually glad for this hiatus. She needs to recover emotionally and physically. And who knows, maybe she'll come back even stronger than ever. I wish her well.

^ Yeah, since it's Avex, it's kind of expected that there'd be a lot of recycling of old songs. I just hope that there are more new songs than old ones but I'm also not holding my breath. :P
