Oh yeah, AT15 aired on TV few days ago, right? No wonder I have seen clips of it everywhere. I saw A Song for XX today and holy hell it was epic. I gotta schedule mysrlf a Ayu concert marathon and watch everything from AT12 to AT15 through. :D Have they cut out any performances of AT15 -WOWOW ver.-?

^ I think they kept every song from the main show except the interludes such as a Bell, but they cut a lot of songs from the encore (The show must go on, the medley, teddy bear, MY ALL...)

Ah, I see. I think I might wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray release then to see everything. I once went and watched a TV version of AT08 and then later after the DVD release I rewatched it and the concert wasn't that amazing anymore. I learned that it's better for me to stay away from TV versions, lol. :'D

God, 'Letter' is such a good song.

Right?! :D I personally love all the tracks of Party Queen. It was a pretty raw album.

melissalove 22nd August 2015 08:50 AM

Party queen deserved more recognition than it got. It's the best experimental album ayu has ever done.

Miduhyo 22nd August 2015 09:32 AM

Everything on Party Queen is epic. Especially Return Road. I wasn't such a huge fan of reminds me until I saw her live performance. Call and Letter have been gems to me since its release. I even enjoy the next LOVE and Eyes, Smoke, Magic. The only one I dont like is: How beautiful you are. It bores me to tears, but that's probably my loss. Everyone else I've talked to enjoys it so I'm not going to bash it.

The only thing that disturbs my personal listening experience while playing "Party Queen" are all the distortions that show up in several songs, especially in "Tell me why".

Oh, and I always delete "Shake it ♥" from my playlist due to the dupstep bridge and the tedious tempo of this song in general.

My favourites are still "NaNaNa", "Letter", "reminds me", "Return Road" and "Tell me why" :)

I don't hate the existence of Party Queen because reminds me is one of my favorite songs of her entire career, the lyrics deeply speak to me. Also, even the tracks that I don't like very much sounded good during the HOTEL Love songs Tour.

NintendoHTF1242 22nd August 2015 07:41 PM

The rock section of Party Queen is really good. call, Letter, Return Road, and Tell me why are all so good.

Zeke. 22nd August 2015 08:39 PM

I just really really hate both call and Letter. Definitely in my top 10 most disliked ayu songs ever. I remember listening while cleaning my room and saying out loud "What in the FUCK is this SHIT??" I had to skip immediately. Too campy and rejected Michelle Branch for me (and I always disliked and was annoyed by Michelle Branche's top hits, so this was just like unbearable for me).

xLuna&1LOVE 22nd August 2015 08:54 PM

Cannot even remember what call sounds like tbh

While I do like the entirety of Party Queen, I do have to say that one key factor in me liking it was that I listened to the album during a time when I accepted any new music that came my way.
So I don't know if I would like the album if I heard it for the first time now. Maybe.

I also do not like HBYA. I might have preferred it if it had all been sung in Japanese. Ayu sounds more sincere then? I'm not fussed by NaNaNa either but I thought there were some rather good songs on Party Queen, especially considering how out there some of the tracks were for Ayu. I wouldn't want albums full of E,S,M but it was a nice change and worked on the album too.

I got baked in my car and listened to it for the first time. I was all pumped up for the experience - AN ENTIRE ALBUM OF NEVER BEFORE HEARD AYU SONGS!!? That shit was unprecedented! But it turned out to be more like a really bad trip on LSD. I felt as if I had fallen into an alternate dimension where Ayu wasn't Ayu, and it just kept getting worse and worse as the album continued to move forward. My only saving grace was reminds me. I remember when Nanana started I was all psyched and then it just turned into this really terrible children's rhyme and I was just like WTF IS THIS KIND OF TROLL??!

Over time I've come to accept the album as it is, and can listen to certain songs on occasion, but for me the album is really fatiguing. I had a similar experience when listening to Rock'n'Roll Circus for the first time. I had built it up in my mind as something completely different. Anyways, I have learned my lessons and these experiences are basically the reason why I choose to be more pessimistic rather than optimistic when it comes to her releases; because when I expect something grand and it turns out terribly, I'm at more of a loss than if I had already expected it to be lackluster. On the other hand, if I expect it to be lackluster, or go into the experience with some sort of doubt, and it turns out to EXCEED my expectations, then I'm just really very grateful.

I remember when Party Queen was released the only song I don't like is HBYA because how dull it was. Between call and Letter I prefer Letter. The rest is kinda good to great in their own ways.

I actually prefer anything in Party Queen rather than Happening Here :laugh

I've totally trained myself to be the same way! Not only with ayu, but with anything: movies, television shows, books. I think it helps a lot.
