Maybe it is weird but every time I try to recall the melody of Pray, I end up remembering meaning of love. Not really a good sign.

But everybody is so excited about that song lately. Was it already such a slaying song when it got released? Can't remember any excitement.

Gustavopc 10th October 2015 07:18 PM

^ I can't recall its melody either :dead2 It never amused me but I do remember many people being pleased there was a grand-ballad song being released again.

Surreal17 10th October 2015 07:42 PM

Compared with BALLAD, Sweet scar, rainy day, Dolls etc., Pray doesn't really stand among Ayu's best ballads. But the thing that makes this ballad different are those small classical details that I can't recall in any other of her songs. For example, between 02:02 - 02:05 I hear something that makes me thing of oriental music (this was the first thing that made me intrigued in the song when it was released). I'm one of those people that love to discover these kind of things. Yeah, people say that she has a bunch of "orchestra ballads" such as how beautiful you are, Pray, SAKURA, Ivy, Anything for you etc. and I must agree. But each one of these stand on their own through different details, different feels and different period of releases.

Also, timing is super important for me. For example, if I listen to Pray in July I would feel nothing probably.

Pray is one of my favorite songs from Ayu. It's such a powerful song. I especially love the piano chords near the end that sounds like HANABI. So nostalgic.

mizuki-7 10th October 2015 09:07 PM

"Pray" so as "Hello new me" did nothing to me ... but really nothing ...What I like when I listen to a song is to analyse the arrangement and find the little details, these songs actually have nothing to tell about there are no depth and I don't feel any emotions musically and vocally it's like "Meaning of love", "How beautiful you are", "untitled for her part II" ! I've never been a big fan of orchestral ballads I prefer when it's mixed with other musical influences like traditional chinese/Japanese instruments, electronic music, Ambient music etc.. that's why I prefer ballads like "BALLAD", "Dolls", "Over", "close to you" but that has a lot to do with the emotions ayu puts into them "Zutto", "Walk" or "Anything for you" were quite typical orchestral ballads but the emotions were there (for me ;))!!

I love Ayu ballads more than any other artists. She's the only artist that when she's announced she's going to release a ballad single I actually get excited, I love them that much.

That said.

I never remember Pray.

I don't know why. I know some people live for music and love to analyze it down its smallest detail but I am not one of those people. I either like it or I don't. I want to like Pray, I really do. It's a good song. It's loving. It's got that taste of old-meets-new Ayu that I personally have been enjoying lately. But I just never remember Pray. Like. Any of it. I don't remember the lyrics. The melody. Hell, when I have my computer playing random songs and that one comes on I always have to look at what song is playing to remember it. Which is sad for me, I think. Cause Pray is a good song, it really is. I just never remember it. Ever.

Alias 11th October 2015 11:16 AM

^Pray is hard to remember for me, too! It's a good song, but right now Walk comes to mind when I'm trying to remember something of it. :'''D

tenshi no hane 11th October 2015 11:35 AM

I feel the same. There are songs which I think are good, but they just don't stick. I really like the latter half of Walk for its lyrics, yet I tend to forget it exists.

Sorry for jumping out of blue but i was curious. What was Ayu's message during forgiveness on this year's tour?

My Japanese is elementary at best when it comes to reading, but from what I can tell they're going to be broadcasting headlining acts from this year's a-nation. Saturday 11/7 it'll be Koda Kumi, followed by TRF.

I won't name everyone (mostly because I'm afraid I'll get 'em wrong. xD) But for Ayu's case it'll be broadcasted 11/15 at 6 PM

Anyone--and I literally mean ANYONE--please feel free to correct me. I don't usually post my takes on translations because I'm always scared I'll mess up somehow and look like a fool, but I had a little to drink tonight and am feeling encouraged. :tipsy

Damn, was reading the last page, and can't remember the last time I listened to S4u. Whenever I slightly get the urge, I go listen to progress instead. lol

Gustavopc 11th October 2015 11:16 PM

I'm listening to CHVRCHES new album, every open eye, and I imagined ayu singing to some of these songs and realised it could turn out really amazing. Down Side Of Me specially.
