I think it has a lot to do with what people were saying about Love'n'hate performance.

Ayumi hasn't really done the "sexy" thing before, yeah she has had performances here and there at every concert, but the main course of her concerts is always her ballads and her audience songs, let's face it. I don't know how many people said that they were uncomfortable with Love'n'hate performance here.

It's totally Ayu's prerogative if she wants to sing about something sexual, but I don't think a lot of people are ready for that, especially in some Asian countries, where her fanbase primarily is, yeah? Or people who are against the whole sex sells thing, because it automatically spells out "sell out" to those kinds of people...

But again, we have to know the lyrics and content before we make any kind of decision about the song. As I said, the PV looks like it's gonna be really cool, and not anything like Sparkle (a plus ahaha), so I think it's gonna surprise us.

And who knows, maybe she means it exactly like Morning Musume means it, Cutie Little Things.

I doubt it.

But it could happen. You can never predict "Ayumi" things*

*Obviously, as any Ayu fan would know... Her concerts are a different story. lmao.

I don't know about this really... CDL09-10 / AT10 might be her most unpredictable shows in recent memory. The setlist for CDL09-10 was rather surprising for many people although it was rehashed from old performances [i.e the Future Classics name] and AT10 might hold some surprises.

concert tour 2000 -> AT03-04 - her first "era" of lives
AT05 -> AT09 - her second "era" of lives, AT05 showed a huge change in the way she did her concerts, but after AT06, many concerts took after the formula created by AT05's "fresh" performances
AT10 -> ???? - a possible third "era?", AT10 is said to be "too good to be true"

I really just hope that this tour is completely new (for the most part) with nothing rehashed from CDL09-10. Seeing some segments from PCDL come back in AT09 kind of made me appreciate the tour a bit less. I do feel that her storylines [cute -> sexy -> ballad] have gotten a bit stale, but perhaps she'll do away with those things with this tour? We really don't know anything for sure, so I think all we can really do is guess as to what the tour will bring.

About the song title though, I feel as though people might really be reading too much into it. It really seems to me like it could be a female empowerment song in the vein of my name's WOMEN / Beautiful Fighters. We really can't judge song content from just the title, but since there's a bit of a connection to lingerie, I think it's highly likely. I think Sexy little things has a better ring to it than "Brassieres", "Underwear", or "Delicates" anyway, haha. (After all, other than undergarments and men, what else could Sexy little things refer to and create such a fierce looking Ayu in the PV?)

^ I'd say that the 3rd era has already started with the NEXT LEVEL tour in a way.

y_nathz 21st February 2010 02:25 PM

^ Yeah I really hope for something new too
I hope it'll be so rock-ish and experimental like the title

of course everyone is different and there's different ways of thinking here... for me there's no problem with the word sexy, and I still don't understand why a lot of people didn't liked the sexy part in LOVE'n'HATE performance! I loved it!!

But again, I don't think this has to do with our way of thinking but on the way we see ayu... I mean... Kuu has done really sexual PV/performance, and she has a lot of fans and her fanbase is in Asia... those fans like her like this, right? So it's not like Ayu did sth asian fans are not used to... Maybe some people here have a too cute/virginal image of ayu...

I don't know if I explained it well xd

Personally, I don't think you can be sexy without be mature. And it's weird that some people worry that she's going to be talking about intense sexual themes just because the title has the word "sexy" in it. Come on, this is Ayu, there's nothing to worry about LOL. She's one of the classiest artists I know, if not THE most. Even in the pictures of the making, it doesn't appear that anything raunchy is going on. She actually does look sexy. But either way, the title gave the fans here a genuine shock! I don't think anyone can say Ayu is playing it safe this time around. :laugh

Nice!

"Sexy little things" is a intresting title, hah

I can't wait to hear it now.....

I agree with you 100%. :yes

She's a grown woman, and most of us are mature adults, for the most part, and it's not like when many of us were kids in elementary school and the words "sex" / "boobs" were bad/funny/offensive...

I feel it's more a matter of surprise and shock to fans that she decided to inquire the word into to title. I'm not surprised nor am I going to make a big fuss over it. It is, what it is. Simply a song title nothing more.

AngelSenshi 21st February 2010 03:48 PM

I think that, despite people saying she repeats a lot of things, I still find her shows extremely entertaining to watch. I usually watch her shows bit by bit, not as quick as a lot of people do, and that's my own fault for lack of time or lack of interest in the sense that I prefer seeing DVD rips first.

As for Ayu's sort of sex appeal, I quite like what 'sexiness' she shows. It's just powerful and it's not horribly done. my name's WOMEN is 'sexual' during the performance but nobody made that much of a fuss about it before. That's because we can count on her to do it...tastefully, but without defeating the point? Some other artists have very 'sexy' performances, and by very sexy, I mean extremely sexy performances which I won't even begin to describe because people know what I mean. Sometime or another they've seen it.

Because there are loads of levels of sexiness, I don't think the title of the song should define everything; the song, the performance, the new direction, or any of that. For all we know, the song, it's performance, could be no more sexual than anything she's ever done in the past.

I don't see Ayu as too innocent to do a sexy performance, I just see her as an artist that does that sort of performance more tastefully, or at least, it's not something she just puts out there like some other artists.

With no offense to any other artists, I'm not judging other artists here. I'm just saying what I see and think.

I agree with what you're saying. Recycled outfits/performances or not, she puts on very entertaining shows, and I like the way she does sexy. :yes

the title makes me interested extremely but i did not expect how it gonna be
because she always amazed me for her music.

can't wait for more information about new coming album!!!!!1

^Well...from those reviews of concert-goers..it was quite a big deal for them. I mean, it's probably because it's AYU...
imagine a nice friend of urs who is alright suddenly become more...'mature' in that sense...I think i'll get a shock...and....>.< .. it's just awkward

...To be honest, there really must be a Love'n'hate performance that I seem to be missing. The performance at Arena Tour wasn't bad at all; at least, I've seen far more overly sexualized performances than that and people don't make a fuss over it. Even if it's Ayu, it's not THAT shocking, is it? What about my name's WOMEN with men crawling on the floor, whips and a few chains and all the men pulling her close and such? Love'n'hate wasn't all that different in just how much was done.

Not~Yet 21st February 2010 04:20 PM

AngelSenshi: I agree, I think that title is a shocker to some because in pop music the word sex is often related to being a sellout. But I like the title and I'm sure, like I said before, that she'll stay true to herself and be classy. I do like sexyness when it's more natural and not too forced, so I hope it'll be like that.

Love N Hate performance was hot. :yes

Oh actually I think people are confusing love 'n' hate with that one part in the identity performance @ 2:44:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzYwc-tuhUo

and that's still pretty tame compared to the until that Day... performances.

I certainly hope for another female empowering Beautiful Fighters/My name's WOMEN/Real Me type of song. It's about time for one, and they never get old for me.
As for the title, I am entirely unsure about what she means by "Sexy Little Things," but I hope that she's not talking about lingerie, and is talking about "sexy" like something is "cool"...
Not sure how to describe what I'm saying!

In pop music, I've seen artists put things 10x more graphic than that in their performances and videos. Is that all the fuss was about? I watched that without flinching. It's tame. Hot, but still tame.

until that Day... performances weren't that bad either I think.

Not~Yet: I also think she'll do something great, honest and classy with that song. I don't doubt it for a moment.

majrakun 21st February 2010 04:34 PM

While everyone is eagerly waiting for the PV, I'm already wondering how the live is gonna be. This may just be another rock song, but heh, songs like identity and decision which I thought would be band songs turned out rather different live. I wonder what aspect of BDSM will she try next, tame as it is. :lech
