what is that supposed to mean?

I feel like almost every album of Ayu was a concept album. There was always a theme that made all the tracks feel connected to each other.

xLuna&1LOVE 23rd February 2012 02:21 PM

Well eh, now I have read the wikipedia-explaination about a concept album.

... aren't all her albums kind of... conceptual? :P

TeamAyu2004 23rd February 2012 02:25 PM

^ by the wiki article I would say no... none of her albums are conceptual (excpet maybe My Story)... some themes may be shared, but they do not meet all the requirements...

jazz??? ehhh... i dont like that... the rest of it sounds good..
Jazz could be good if it was used like Katy Perry and Gaga used it in their last efforts... that would be amazing!

Can't wait to listen to this album for the 1st time... in the morning on my way to work in the car... 1st impressions!!! So exciting!!

YUKARI 23rd February 2012 02:27 PM

I feel like this album is dedicated to gyaru girls XD they're partying like every day, they look fake, they usually make funny faces, make a photo of it and then upload at their blog.

ExodusUK 23rd February 2012 02:29 PM

I feel like she always says it's a "concept album" or some crap like "I hope people will listen with their hearts to understand the albums message" when in fact it's just the singles that have been recorded separate from each other and five or six songs that have been quickly written and recorded, sequence together between filler interludes. Maybe this time it's different though because she's been able to record the album as an actual whole cohesive product.

Heavenly 23rd February 2012 02:32 PM

I think it's easier for her to make a concept-album if there's no singles before...
With NEXT LEVEL for example, it would have been a super concept-album, then she included GREEN + Days... (I love both songs, but you can't deny that they're total out of place!)

EDIT : @ExodusUK : you totally explained what I thought ^^

Coelacanth 23rd February 2012 02:37 PM

"Eyes, Smoke, Magic" sounds like it could be a jazzy song.

So... it's a concept album... Aren't most of her albums? It'd be awesome if she did a concept album on the level of "Rhythm Nation 1814" or "The Wall," though. Her so-called "concepts" always seem quite subtle and weakly unified.

"MY STORY" for instance, could be considered a concept album because the album is supposedly "autobiographical" for her. I have a feeling she didn't have any particular concept in mind when she was creating the album, though. The entire "concept" was probably an afterthought.

Agree!

Btw, the email CDJ sent to us says February 22 announcement, but how come we haven't had anything new from TeamAyu so far?? So strange.

Most of Ayumi's albums are concept albums. They are never extreme ones from the first second to the last but most have a common theme throughout the album. Be it musical, lyrical, atmospherical...

I'll try to not listen to ANYTHING besides the pv songs this time and maybe not even watch the PVs before I get my copy...I WILL fail. I did that once, for MOON/blossom, and that's it...

OyTony 23rd February 2012 03:21 PM

I will not listen to previews or watch PVs but I want to see the covers. =)

freedreamer 23rd February 2012 03:24 PM
