^ wowww that's great!! then this show works!

yay that's very stable..
go go ayu! support you all the way!

i also hope for her next music, there'll be ROCK music from ayu..
i also think that she suits ROCK the best, but i'm still enjoy her trying new stuff.. it's not the best but still enjoyable, at least for me.

Too bad they don't count the full sales from concert venues.

A cd sold is a cd sold, unfortunately it was easy to make up figures.

AyUmIXx 5th July 2014 04:11 PM

^
omg what??
that's just too bad, if not the sales must be boosting up. sighh...

Andrenekoi 5th July 2014 04:13 PM

^Oricon only count 1/3 of venue sales...

But the album wasn't avaliable for most of the Showcase, so she somewhat avoided the full impact of it

yeah, we'll never know how well it really did because I feel that a big part of this week's sales are coming from the showcase venue... But I'm happy to know the showcase is actually helping to improve the album sales, Oricon counting them or not.

My Rainbow 5th July 2014 04:29 PM

I think Oricon is just plain USELESS. They don't count shit: internet shops, downloads, concert venues... They really need to catch up with the times...

brener 5th July 2014 05:47 PM

From what I read somewhere Oricon counts only 80% of physical stores now. Billboard Japan would be a better choice, but they don't release numbers like Billboard USA =(

TeamAyu2004 5th July 2014 05:54 PM

i cant understand what oricon is thinking....
anyways... the numbers are okay. I wish they were higher, but they are what they are.

brener 5th July 2014 06:07 PM

Some info about Oricon policy (this was written in 2009):

Actual daily sales are collected from the POS System (Point-of-Sale System) of approx. 3,370 stores nationwide (this will be the projected sales you see on Oricon Daily)
by the end of the week, additional actual sales are also included from: i) another 700 stores that fax in their weekly sales results; ii) website sales; iii) sales from promotional events..etc.
Therefore, when the weekly sales figure is released, the total projected sales per Oricon Chart =/= total final sales

Oricon is probably annoyed by the numerous CD sales of AKB LOL
I wish Japan would have ranking system like K-pop music shows in which they combine digital sales, physical sales, votings, and so on - winning on a music show is more prestigious than having a #1 album.

brener 5th July 2014 06:25 PM

I wish it was like Billboard USA, couting official streamings, audience on radio stations, etc.

Andrenekoi 5th July 2014 08:18 PM

^Them Ayu would make it even worse xD

But really, Oricon is a market mapping mechanism, and it maps physical sales of the Japanese music industry.

Concert sales are actually pretty easy to fake, considering the labels/artists staff would send Oricon the numbers. They actually counted 100% of venue sales but there was too much fraud.

And foreign sales doesn't help mapping the japanese market at all. Even if there are stan wars based on Oricon numbers, they make money because there are Japanese companies interested in knowing whats interesting in their own market for promotional use (like knowing what band to ask for a theme song, or what idol to be the spokeperson of the brand). There are some Japanese acts (and Ayu isn't among those) that have a barely existant intern fanbase, but has a good overseas fanbase, and counting overseas sales mask the actual viability of the said music acts on the japanese market alone.

Ayu doesn't get played in radio too often and that Billboard USA thing is a mess

I totally agree! I love her more experimental music. That's one of the reasons Love Songs is on my top favorite album list is because I felt like she really experimented with some interesting sounds.

I have really enjoyed reading everyone's posts here in this thread because I've seen some well-explained opinions and such. I think I can see from both sides of the story....

....Some people seem pretty disappointed in her lack of "effort" this year....I can totally get why they'd feel that way....

...I could never say that I know for a fact what really happened with her, but I somewhat got a similar vibe. I could be totally wrong though...

I don't hold it against her at all whatever the case was. I really liked her single Feel the Love/Merry-go-round...

I can't seem to decide what I think!!!!!! XD

We should get used to Oricon then, because there's no other way. I like Oricon after all. They're really organized and are beware of a lot of things.

Bigtop 6th July 2014 09:25 AM

Well, at least Tomochin is #9 as of now...

LONJJONG 6th July 2014 12:04 PM

#6 today, outsold by Frozen OST.

primavera♥ 6th July 2014 01:42 PM

I can't lol. Ew.

KarenPang 6th July 2014 02:06 PM

^ in case you didn't know , the Frozen soundtrack was the 2nd best selling album in the 1st 1/2 of 2014 in Japan (with it selling 754,407 & counting) , only behind AKB48's Tsugi no Ashiato

Looks like Colours wouldn't be able to get higher , maybe there will be a last min boost of sales since today was the last day of the showcase
