Partying is a lot of work tbh. You have to get ready, you have to go outside and move, you have to drink, sometimes you drink a lot and get drunk and then feel the pain in the morning unless you drink tequila only since she's the best alcohol for you/doesn't make you feel hung over.
With sex you can just do that at home. No real preparations, just showering.

oh gosh! This post really made my day! :D

i actually really like the album LOL im surprised to see the disappointed. This is like another step of electro from FEEL...The last two ballads were surprising :)

but yes her voice..is lost amongst all the music.

I LOVE Photogenic, Fashionista, Stranger, Space Invader though. Anything's lyrics...Heartplace? LOL

Queen of controversy

But yeah jpop central is VERY positive about this album. It's so positive it's like a... I don't know... A huge sugar rush so big it feels like all my teeth are rotting and I'm gonna get diabetes or something. Not saying positivity is bad but I've always liked a balance of opinions. Too positive and it's annoying. Too negative and it's depressing. This forum seems to be JUST right. There's enough people liking it and enough people dragging it into oblivion that everything's fine and dandy... At least I think so.

This is the kind of stuff that gives pop a bad rap. :( It's not even that the lyrics are stupid (they are) but the fact that there's not even a pretense of meaning here annoys me. The lyrical content won't hurt my enjoyment of the album (the Engrish nonsense will) because I don't listen to Namie for any imagined artistry, but it annoys me all the same.

Pop is plenty capable of producing songs that, while they might not be incredibly artistic or innovative, are still meaningful or purposeful. Songs about being attractive and clubbing really only function for passing time getting ready for girls' night out or whatever. I mean, lyrically, this album just COULDN'T be anymore purposeless and impossible to connect with except maybe on a Friday night. She's not saying anything, and neither are the songwriters she bought the tracks from. It's just a whole bunch of lyrical filler for the sake of putting out something new.

The lyrics themselves sound like placeholder lines, like the songwriter just jotted random phrases in to fill the notes for a demo and never got around to finishing the song or making it coherent. So much of it is absolute gibberish? And the fact that she's singing all these incomplete thoughts that don't make any sense to an actual English speaker, let alone to Namie who can't understand English, just baffles me from a musical standpoint because what's the point?

I know the point is $$$, but still. For Japan's leading pop star, it's just... I want more??? I know it's pop and pop exists to be profitable and commercial and marketable, but at some point you reach a level of purposelessness that it just turns into k-pop.

ETA: It's not just the fact that the lyrics are "vapid", it's the combination of everything. They're vain and meaningless, they're gibberish, they're in English which she doesn't even speak, they're in English which her target audience doesn't even speak. It couldn't be more filler.

i don't usually agree with what you have to say, but this sums up my brain pretty well lol

Well unfortunately there's NATE to dictate the forum/namie thread there so you can't really voice remotely negative opinions there about Namie and she happens to be his favorite. He doesn't get that there were a lot who don't like the words namie sing in the new album and makes excuses for it (and it has nothing to do with namie not writing lyrics/not being deep). You can have good/cool lyrics without going deep but also without being repetitive and be ridiculous.

If Namie is that in charge of the songs she chooses than she has to take responsibility for what she sings in her songs, with all the grammatical mistakes, or repeated words/themes.
But again, it's not for an audience that completely understands what she sings or the language she sings in.

I wouldn't call the people who voice such opinions haters since a lot of them like namie a lot and buy her music, they just think she can do better and singing lyrics/words is part of the music she does.

I still don't care much for these stuff if the music is fun. On the most part.

I hate it when people don't let you voice an opinion about Namie if it's not wow! amazing!

That's why I like the ayu forums here where many people critique ayu constructively.
Stans will be stans anywhere. But they are always more prevalant when their artists are selling well. Wait until Hikki comes back to life lol. Other Utada fans scare me sometimes man. I actually thinks that's why I only spent a week on jpc many years ago when I was an angsty teen. (More like 5 years ago)

Anyway, this album probably won't be bad to me and a few of these songs will probably be great. It just won't be really special. Honestly, Namie probably has to go in a different direction for me to be more into things again.

But idk, I'll listen to the full songs

So true.
That NATE guy is so shady towards other people's faves everytime someone voices a "negative" opinion about his dearest Namie :roflmao
And I still don't get why Namie's stans got so defensive just because a lot of people (that actually really like Namie as well) are pointing out how ridiculous and uninspiring these lyrics are :roflmao
"Oh but it's pop music you should expect that" "you're just being picky!!!!" ridiculous excuses. Pop doesn't always have to equal superficiality, we have plenty of examples of that and guess what, lyrics are really important for some people to fully enjoy music and its meaning.
It's like she's untouchable, "Beyoncè of jpop", never makes mistakes :roflmao

Why can't she pronounce "scream"?! It sounds like "suru" in Japanese :laugh :bawl

This is the description of CDJapan .
It seems that some songs are produced by some of the producers who have worked for Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez , Beyonce, Selena Gomez , Madonna, Loreen etc

In my opinion it was very likely that this happens . How many times have imagined or desired Namie well as other Japanese pop singers to debut in America? _genic Think is that result, international namie but without risking real debut in the US market and fail. And I like to give us this very international drive without it becoming the new globaliza star.

ahtka-chan 4th May 2015 09:51 PM

I just heard the previews and I quite like some tracks.

Btw, I was shocked when I saw the lyrics of Stranger. I always thought she sang "I got you everytime, I got you anytime you call my name" but it's not that :o

This makes sense. I remember there was a rumor of Namie possibly preparing for an English album, but I didn't take it seriously. Maybe this is one of the steps she's taking.

I wonder which song she did with Loreen's producers?

Yep, totally agree. I love Namie too but...controversially...I find Feel to be...just alright *gasp*

For me, I wouldn't have minded if Feel had a bigger mix of both Japanese and English produced songs. In saying that, my favourite song of the album is Contrail but my least favourite is Can You Feel This Love. I do enjoy listening to Feel every so often, so I won't critique it too harshly, but sometimes I think it could have been anyone's album. If the album was full of songs to the standard of Alive however I may be loving this album as much as everyone else does!

I do really like Alive, Stardust In My Eyes and Contrail though!

I am so far expecting to be disappointed by _genic, but hopefully, as with Uncontrolled, it will grow and I'll love it. I've only heard the initial preview (which I think was of Photogenic maybe?) and I really liked the old-school-Namie-R&B vibes it was giving me.

When I first heard the album was going to be 80s/90s inspired, I was so hoping (even though it would never happen) for a TK track as a throwback - that would be a lot of fun!

After watching Live Style and seeing all the pre-_genic songs performed, I was so ready for another Namie album. Especially after hearing Sweet Kisses. I may just buy all these tracks after I get _genic if I do feel a bit let down by the album. Although I wouldn't mind if they turned up on a compilation somewhere.

Speaking of Uncontrolled, it didn't do much for me at all at first and I found myself agreeing with the comments at the time (that it was a bit boring/bland/uninspired) which is weird to think now, given how much I love it! It's in my Top 5 Namie albums. I think Uncontrolled has a great mix of different types of songs.

Birthday. The producers responsible for that mess are Seventyeight Productions.

mi|kshake 4th May 2015 11:24 PM

...oh, from what I hear about Birthday, that's disappointing!

Delicious n Bold 4th May 2015 11:57 PM

I should probably give the previws another listen but I'm so lazy
I'll just wait till June whatever.

AYUmyQUEEN 5th May 2015 01:19 AM

Wow I just listened to the previews and this is what I would've liked to hear on FEEL. I enjoyed FEEL, but I felt that the english songs (which were the majority) did not have good enough melodies or beats to distract me from the engrish. However, I'm enjoying what I hear so far. Although, I was expecting something completely different with this album. Oh well!
