Ayu could teach stage charisma. At her best no one could come close to it. I could watch her hold a mic and swing around a manicured hand for days.

She's been doing this for sooo long while singing songs that are way too high-pitched for her.

Why is it a competition though? And none of those singers are dealing with deafness like Ayu is.

There are several people out there that can easily outsing Ayu.

What is way less common, are people who have the same amount of stage presence, charisma, or ability to convey a songs feeling through singing or performance. Very little people can give a song live on the same level Ayu does.

And it has nothing to do with budget. Ayu can over perform most people alone in a simple stage wearing white tee and jeans.

Charisma is relative imo.

Ayu’s vocals from 2003-2009 were absolutely perfect. She can (could?) sing.

Some posts removed. Keep on-topic, thank you.

Actually people don't give a lot of credit to her earliest vocals I mean 98/99 I know that she was singing abnormally high but most of her lives in 99 were pitch perfect and crystal clear it seemed so effortlessly to reach the higher register for her ... of course that was not really the case because it was not her natural tone nonetheless in comparaison her vocal the year after
(2000) sounded way more nasal and scratchy.
2003 2004 were amazing though such a shame if only she was able to maintain this vocal quality things would be so different.

It isn't that relative when you see how much are taken my a person's charisma...

For example, I don't care about Lady Gaga or Namie Amuro, they don't work for me. But they work for a shitton of people, so I can't really deny their charisma, even if it does nothing for me personally.

Toniayu123 6th February 2020 05:46 PM

It is as relative as personally thinking someone has it or not. Ayu does for me, not for my family lol.

I once showed an ayu live to one of my coworkers who's been doing vocal training for more than 10 years and she actually said Ayu is not bad, not perfect either but definitely knows what she's doing in recent shows. So. lol

Reminds me of YouTube videos of vocal coaches reacting to edited and lip-synced performances of stars, AKA pointless.

BlackSilence 7th February 2020 05:19 PM

^sure some are, but those weren't lip synched. Ayu rarelly does that anyway. Plus it was the livestream stuff. Not the DVD releases.

ExodusUK 15th February 2020 12:58 PM

I totally forgot that video interludes were a thing for her tours

Sky High 15th February 2020 01:48 PM

These days she usually uses video compilation from practice sessions for interludes.

It seems Masashi Muto was doing the shoot? So hoping it’s videos rather than pics...

truehappiness 15th February 2020 05:26 PM

If it was Masashi it was very very likely a video intro/interlude. She seems to mention Director Muto so definitely not photos.
