WhyTF is walking proud on there? Was it that popular?

yes, i agree with you. like it or not, Dearest is one of ayu's best known songs among people(note:not fans). it will make no sense to leave that song out. honestly, it's not that bad! i find the song quite smoothing to listen.

Just go buy fairyland or (m)u or something. :B

Oh, I forgot to mention.

BEST of CDL06-07 will NOT be released separately. The mu-mo shop "confirms it."
So a lot of people will probably buy White for this reason..

thanks goodness it will not be sold separate, i'm worried that it might hurt the sales.
in that case, i think the white version might sell better in the long run, due to the CDL DVD

Cool playlists, im looking forward to it :D

They're for casual listeners, who like alot of ayu's stuff but not really enough that they MUST buy every album, they must get everything. Avex is being smart (and evil) by making the first press edition with the 2 dvds: it's the only way to make it marketable to the die-hard fans who must have everything. The intent behind Best collections is to gather up the songs that were most popular (as far as single sales, radio requests, karaoke, and general exposure), not the actual "best" songs. Not the ones that fans like the best. The intent behind making a best album is usually making all the popular stuff available in one place, not exposing casual fans to an artist's best work. It's not meant as a jumping-off point for new listeners who should hear the best examples of an artist's overall sound and artistic ability.

So yeah, that's why Greatful Days is on there and alterna isn't.

You are quite right, and I know this goes a bit off topic with what you are saying, but, we all know that us as fans will have this automatic sense that the musician releases for us, and so, express our disdain, or praise, everytime they release something. This time just happens to be more an expression of our unhappiness.

I also believe that no matter what she would have done, there would be people complaining, the inclusion of fairyland, the exclusion of angel's songs and B&D, why is ourselves here and not there, we would find something, like I said before neverending battle...

You're right about those DVDs too...now I want both :)

Actually...I wonder about that too. I mean, it wasn't a single, although we could argue that it was one of the album promoted tracks, but I am... has no album tracks on this unless you count Daybreak, and RAINBOW and Memorial address each only have one, while MY STORY has 3 put on.

I'd really rather hear Pride than walking proud because it gives more diversity to the album, but in the end I guess like what Delirium said, maybe she thought the general public did not like that single since it didn't sell that well.

heartplace83 16th January 2007 09:08 AM

oppps ya, how could i forget.. *runs away*

WillofDusk 16th January 2007 09:15 AM

The new song's name may be Shinsyoku, (new tune, translate by google)

truehappiness 16th January 2007 09:19 AM

No.

Songs are always named that as a placeholder, like how singles are "title to be determined" usually.

It is NOT Shinkyoku/New song. That's like saying something is called "Untitled by Unknown.."

bluegie 16th January 2007 09:38 AM

at first i was like, "huh another romanji title?" Then I read TH's post and re-read the word again... shin-sho-ku rite? :P

truehappiness 16th January 2007 09:43 AM

Usually when I hear it announced on the music programs, it's shinkyoku so..

I've got a question. If they say, PVs for all tracks(?), will the songs that don't have PVs originally have like little videos or something? :? or will they just...not be there. Cause then I'll be pretty disappointed. :(

ayu_ayu301 16th January 2007 10:48 AM

for sure i'll be getting both ^^

I like "walking proud" much more

Not to be confused with sakkyoku (arrangement/composition), which also appears often on music shows...

As for Dearest - why would it not be there? It's one of her best ballads...
walking proud? It's one of her ballads - and I bet that was enough to put it there :P

Delirium-Zer0 16th January 2007 04:26 PM

Dustie: you're probably right... I always thought CAROLS and Voyage were very poorly done compared to Dearest, walking proud, and, say, "SEASONS"... but there are CAROLS and Voyage, right there on a best collection. But ballads always sell well for some reason.

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 16th January 2007 04:53 PM

Yay!!!
no B&D!! I wanted the forgiveness pv though

well Voyage gotta be on the BEST since it's the award song (Japan Record Taisho) in 2002. And I think it's one of her best ballads in her music history (even tho I didn't really like it in the beginning). :P

I agree with you , this is the case with Ayu. also this is why BEST collection albums have huge sales. they reach out to casual listeners too.

I think that with less-popular artists in the j-pop indrusty it isn't uncommon to put out a BEST album "for the fans" aka milk money off them. Avex artists like Ruppina & H/\L have BEST albums out eventho their discography or popularity isn't big enough to really justify one lol

I guess if they could, they'd just make it all ballads, but they didn't want to go extreme...
