Why are you scared of the flop? I would be pride if she had the bravery enough to go out of Asia. It's too easy just sit down in your throne with your crown and let people love you, while outside of this dreamland (Asia) it's so diferent.

Altough I don't think she will be releasing any English album, a world tour will be... amazing, I'd realize my dream...

Lady_Eowyn 16th July 2009 08:58 PM

Panda87, SunshineSlayer, Noidea, and Mimi.chan...

I agree with you 100%

Spoiler:
I don't want Ayu to go mainstream... this doesn't sound good. Artists like BoA and Utada tried to make it in the u.s. and had to make (with all due respect) ugly tracks in order to make it in the us market and failed. (not miserably... but they didn't exactly make it either) I don't pretend to offend anyone, this was actually annoying to me because i enjoy their japanese stuff and i find it worthy to hear... so it's pityful they had to make these manufactured music that in the end didn't work out :shakehead.

I don't want ayu to go through the same thing. I want her to be as she is, no matter what. If she goes international, i'm fine with it as long as she remains as herself... if not...

I hope this is a ridiculous rumor

Ps.- I also agree with Coelacanth, Socrazy, beauty4321 and Furushubakku

and this is just a theory only ayu knows if its true
Since we basically deduced that this was fabricated by a Chinese-thing and.. yeah... not very true at all.

I'm sure if Ayu read it she'd look like this:

I'd like her to perform here at least once or twice though.

I would rather her stay in Asia, but a few performances in the US will be the best thing ever, I agree :yes.

No sane person would say no to a EU/US tour, after all many jrock bands do it.

Kazeyomi 16th July 2009 10:30 PM

^

Jrock / Visual Kei bands has more impact in Europe.
I dunno why, maybe 'cause they looks cool or 'cause teenagers loves omgilistendifferentmusici'mbetterthanyou.. but a jrock band would be more succesful than a jpop artist.
Even if is famous as Ayu, Hikki, Namie or Kuu. The jrock fanbase seems more huge than the jpop one.

I would be happy if Ayu went to comic convention, like the Anime Expo! It's guests was famous, like Kana or Nana Kitade.

every otaku knows her, for remixes, for songs, for her image :D so.. a little concert during a comic convention should be great IMO.

SunshineSlayer 16th July 2009 10:34 PM

^ That would be a big step down for her imo.

Raleigh 16th July 2009 10:44 PM

Hmmm... why do I feel the media is blowing this out of proportion? Sure Ayu spoke about some big decision but well... she does have a tendency to make things appear more exciting sometimes (or we expect too much) Somehow I doubt avex is planning to make her go big in Western countries especially since her English isn't that great to start with and the latest attempts proved to be not so great.

I have a feeling it'll be something more simple like her going back to acting or opening some shop.

noidea 16th July 2009 10:47 PM

^ ayu would never act again, she hates acting

A step down yes. But if she wanted to start a career in the US( not saying she is, not saying I want her to, and not saying she would do this) She would have to step down just like BoA and Utada and every Asian artist coming to America have.

Would you act again?
When I was doing it, I hated it. It wasn't fun. Just exhausting. If it was under the right circumstances, though, the right project with the right people who'd make an effort to understand me..
Its not so much she hates it per se, she just hated the acting she did before A Song for XX. This interview was before Voyage was released I believe.

noidea 16th July 2009 11:22 PM

^ ah, sorry, seems my memory wasnt complete, late at night already xD

micster 16th July 2009 11:26 PM

I reckon if she did an anime tie-in song then EU/US audiences would know her a lot more and be more accepted. Maybe.

Evolution7/4 16th July 2009 11:35 PM

^yeah that or video games. Thats how Utada got recognized and she does have the Inu Yasha tie ins which got her recognized by many.

most of anime shows have artists from sony sing for openings or endings. or so i've noticed with the artists that i listen to from sony. it's mostly bands or pop/rock artists, too. so i don't think ayu will have an anime tie-in anytime soon.

but inuyasha had all avex artists sing for it, though. so that's why ayumi sang dearest for it. it had something to do with avex's anime sub-label "avex mode".

noidea 16th July 2009 11:39 PM

hmm...now that you say it...Sony artists really get tons of tie-ins for animes, even HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR had them though they sold really poorly with everything post-Ichirin no Hana
