I agree. I don't think any Ayumi album can be considered conceptual. There's no other concept beside her "expressing" her emotions. Epica and Scars on Broadway did what i call conceptual albums (first band did it about world religions and second one is about a serial killer) because the subject is clearly precised in all songs,one way or another. Perhaps ayu has attempted this but the songs and ideas are too vague for us fans to understand or to consider her albums cohesively conceptual.

I think RnRC is probably her strongest conceptual album (Dlb being the turning point in the album), but even then she the placing on the single tracks were seemingly random.

I cant wait for these covers! I hope the album is amazing!
But already calling it Party queen and then saying its conceptual, but including How Beautiful you are... is a no.

Unless of course she is singling about herself... interesting.

Not really. We have no idea how serious the title is. Maybe it's ironic to some extent. Without knowing the whole thing we can not know if it fits into a concept. A concept could even be "14 songs from different genres". Or it can be 14 different ways to look at emotions...it could be anything really and hbya might or might not fit into it.
FIVE was a concept-EP. Consisting of five different ways to look at hope and a transition from hope to hopelessness. Yet many people think it's random stuff thrown together.

That's the whole definition of it. A concept album doesn't have to tell a story(many of Ayumi's albums tell a story from the first to the last track though, just no fictional story, so it's often lost from Ayumi's impressionistic/hermetic romance lyric style) or have one type of sound all the way through. It's about an idea being carried throughout an entire piece of work.
Not every of Ayumi's albums does that but many do.

I'm just hoping these covers will leak anytime soon now, can't wait! I hope it's a mix of the LANDS OF EDEN and the ViVi shoot. cute + SUPER plastic. :laugh (not being sarcastic!)

It's kinda hard to make a non-conceptual album, I think. There's always a red thread there.

I love the sound of jazz *_* Literally. It suits Ayu to try out new genres; she's been almost everywhere and done every genre with pretty good outcomes.

I'm starting to worry I wont like it because I building these mental image in my head... lol.. and if she doesn;t do it the piece will be... lacking... lol

That's how I feel. Ayu saying it's "conceptual" doesn't really mean anything; she's never had a real concept album.

I just hope that the "theme" of this album, which is probably going to be European inspired, is better than RnRC. That album was the beginning of the end for me. I hope she gets over this whole Euro phase soon.

Also, I hope the covers are nothing like Kuu's Kingdom. I love Kuu and that album but those covers were just no :no
