I wasn't talking about haters, what would be Ayu antifans, basically, I'm talking about western fans hating on her releases... And even if I am a fan of some artists with pretty annoying fanbases, I never saw something like Ayu's... Her fanbase really seens to believe they can control her steps... Sorry, but it's just freaky...

Pieces_of_SEVEN 4th March 2012 03:28 AM

^^I don't get why anyone would WANT to control what she does...she has done it brilliantly herself since her debut...

Andrenekoi 4th March 2012 03:32 AM

^And this exactly my feelings about it... The best thing about Ayu, that most popstars don't offer, is that u never know how her next step will be... still, there are still fans asking for a new version of a lot of stuff she already did... I don't get it...

As I always say... if her actual image/sound/concert doesn't appeal to you, just wait for the next year... But everything always seens like the end of the world over here...

FANS. NOT pseudo-fans.

I don't disagree that Ayu cares about her fans. But you can bet AVEX sure cares about the sales. I think all artists as well care about sales to at least some extent otherwise everyone would just release their stuff for free.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 4th March 2012 04:04 AM

^^of course avex cares about sales, it's avex.

but releasing for free wouldn't make sense even if they didn't care about sales...record labels would still have to make back the money from producing the physical copies.

It would've been weird if not seeing the price anyway lol

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about this. Now I only need to find where to buy box with blu ray. :cool *keeps checking CD Japan web-site*

Yes I know. :) My point is, if the artists didn't care about their sales in any way, shape, or form, there wouldn't even be a need for record labels to exist. But, that's why its called the music business and by virtue of the fact that it is indeed a business its ultimately about making money. From Ayu to Koda to the tiniest artist on the label they are part of that business and therefore are always going to be concerned at least somewhat about sales. Of course they all care about their fans too, but money/business is also a part of the equation and not a small one. For example, every artist these days have multiple versions of the same album/single and to be frank, that has nothing to do with the fans and all to do with making money. I'm not even saying its a bad thing or that it is even the artists choice to do it, just that its not something that should be forgotten about.

She'll either sell to double/triple platinum or not reach 100k...lol

Well naturally avex cares about its $$$, that's what makes it a successful company! Probably part of the reason CDL isn't sold separately and why there are 4 versions of the album coming out as well as the Playbuttons all on the same day. Their financial year ends March 31 and they want a big boost!

Exactly. I find it funny when people say that *insert an artist name* doesn't care about the sales. And while I can understand that many of the older and established acts might care less, the newer acts are prolly concerned a lot. Ayu's job is to be an artist/performer and she gets payed/earns money from her job activities.

jbrat2219 4th March 2012 03:19 PM

I'm not sure how ayu feels about sales but I know she wouldn't do all this work for free.
