I don't really know what the people who are criticizing the album covers expected. I mean, this is a collaboration of (somewhat) summer-y songs released while Kuu is on hiatus, of course the covers aren't going to blow you away. I personally expected much less so I really like them. :)

I don't think people realise how huge the union jack was in Japan during that time last year :shrug

and kuu's covers aren't even about that...she's just wearing super trendy clothes lol

Thank you for this.

I cant believe people compare Dejavu to RnRC covers.. She 'jacked' it? Really? The whole concept of Dejavu photoshoot was Alice in Wonderland, an English book. I doubt her and her team used the union jack for anything other than referencing the origin of the concept and like emi said, using clothes that were popular at the time.

Kumi wore underwear for JAPONESQUE covers, did Ayu steal that cover for Party Queen?

Sorry to be all defensive but I've read the 'copying' theory so many times and had to say something. All that said, I do agree about the amateurish photoshop

Twinkle ! 16th June 2012 01:28 PM

The next single by AKB48 they will get naked so they won't be compared with Kuu :laugh , Guys you're such a fun :roflmao

emi♡ 16th June 2012 01:36 PM

havent they already been naked? lol

But I think technically everyone just stole their lingerie considering I hardly see them in anything else...

maze 16th June 2012 01:56 PM

so, I was wondering how the PV is going to be like

really hope it's more like Poppin' love coktail than Inside Fishbowl x__x

Corvina 16th June 2012 03:04 PM

The Beach Mix covers are inspired by the foam parties in Ibiza. That's mentioned in one of the descriptions.
They are tacky and simple done, but she had worse than that. They fit great to the theme of the album. And to her. :laugh

Same for me. I too expected way way way less and these covers are so colourful and summery that I simply can't resist getting happy.

Oh, since I've seen the vocal ranger both here and in the Ayu forums, has it been done for others singers, like Kana or Miliyah? And who has the biggest range?

you can go to the youtube channel of this person who did the Kuu video, he has Ayu, Kuu & more, like Yuna Ito etc. check it out

I don't get the problem with the foam party thing in the cover. foam parties are really great and funny, imo :mischief

Exactly. I can understand that when people see Dejavu covers they think of RnRC covers, but to say that Kumi "jacked" the style is completely wrong. Its not as if Kumi looked at the cover of RnRC and said "I want to copy that!". England is big everywhere, what with the Royal Wedding and all.

Just saw the covers now and loling at the font.. I mean really? really?

The pictures aren't bad though, kinda cute, and the colors are fun. Hope the new song is fun & worth putting on repeat!

edit: wait a minute.. are those.. photoshopped clouds I'm just now noticing on the covers too? Oh kuu.. :no
edit2 nvm looks like bubbles.. still doesn't make it any better lol

Looks like I need to catch up with AKB48 , Don't take me wrong , I mean I'm Kumusexual :laugh

The more I glance at the covers, the less tacky they appear. They're not THAT bad. I've seen less appealing album covers before so I'm not overly disappointed. ;)

The song is admissible but not praise worthy. I can't wait to hear the full version though. :yes

Its foam, as we I guess have established.

Just read the Twinkle lyrics while singing them. They brought a tear to my eye. They are so Kuu.

On a bright side, i DID order Dejavu... but only because CDJapan had it on sale for %50 off lol

I have to say I don't think she took Ayu's covers at all. Kuu has been known to do British themes in the past, like with Kingdom, and she wears a lot of British clothes and clothes with the Union Jack on them. The Dejavu covers were British 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired, not punk like 'Rock 'n' Roll Circus'. If you look at the Dejavu booklet, you can see the concept, and that's the reason there are floating objects on the cover. People were having this argument when Dejavu came out, I just hate that just because two big artists have done a British theme, people think they HAVE to copying each other. They both did British themes but completely different concepts. Like someone said, British and American fashion is very well liked in Japan, especially among Gyaru's.

I still like the covers, not the best summer covers she has done but she is pregnant, so she can't really do a full body shoot, like FREAKY. I still like the energy she shows in the covers though! It would probably look less tacky without the wig, but the wig also gives it s funky look. :D

EDIT: Also, I've never seen this before this video before:

It's of a girl called 'Mei Mei' doing a dance cover of Kuu's 'Show Girl' and 'Juicy'. From watching a few vids, I think it's a popular Chinese show where young dancers (I think mei mei is one of the main dancers) do covers of popular JPOP & KPOP songs. :) She's also done 2NE1, 4minute, BoA, SHINee etc. They're quite fun to watch!

The new song is not by HIRO, so there's a new song by him to be release some day.

Maybe a Alive/Physical Thing type single in November.

Nope, never. And I've never personally seen bubbles/foam in a pool, so thinking its a bath is logical... :shrug

foam parties are not about bubbles/foam in the pool!:)I don't know, but the ones I go to are club parties when they pour foam on people. there's that device that generates foam up and from there they pour the foam. crazy, yeah, but they are really fun in summer

The only place I've seen those foam parties are at clubs or new years things, but otherwise I would never have seen them xP its not really an Australian thing to do so it is logical to have thought it was a bath. :)

I wouldve liked the covers if the cd+dvd one had a better shot, I think the angle is terrible but I love the colours a lot. I dont mind the font so much but after a while it starts to look tacky.
