Party Queen is Ayu's best flowing album. The interludes actually do their job and everything just works out extremely well. My only complaint is how beautiful you are lol
|
Just listened to sixxxxxx for the first time, and when I listened to Shape of love, I immediately thought about a PV of it, where Ayu would dance in a middle of a fields of white statues of herself.
Don't know why, but I find that suits the melody and the flow of the song. Btw, I also fell in love with Sorrows. No wonder it's a tasuku-arranged song :) |
Party Queen is an amazing track by track history album, I really enjoy listening to it. The only thing I don't like at all is the PV'S Except for Return Road until that photo pop up...
|
Party Queen, unlike most of her other albums post 2010, actually has a clear concept in spite of the musical variety of the songs. It certainly also helps that the songwriting had some of her best hooks in the past 5 years, so it was hard to screw that up. Having this album come after an album full of half-songs (i.e. Love songs) was really a breath of fresh air.
|
^ Don't you dare talk about Love songs like this :cry
|
Love Songs..half songs, how? I'm curious, 3/4 of the songs on the album are epic and memorable.
|
What do you mean by "half-songs"?
|
Musical wise Love songs is more cohesive and the overall album is solid. I wonder what do you mean by "half-songs"? sure the album kinda sounds the same because of the similar instruments used in it and its majority was composed by TK but it is still an epic album.

Lol I love Love songs and Party Queen.
I can stan for November and reminds me all day |
I feel this has been discussed a million times. But, although Love songs is a great album, many of the songs feel as if they are always in the verge of lifting off, but never quite truly get there. It's like they are stuck in a perpetual state of "pre-chorus". They just don't have full-on killer hooks. The "hooks" or choruses are just looped versions of what generally comes right before a chorus.
For example, if NO FUTURE was a Love songs track, the part that goes: Doushite toka itsu kara toka Doko made toka Iu tsumori mo nai yo Would not exist, the song would never escalate to that level, and the chorus would just be what came before it. |
Thankfully Sweet Season escapes the half song curse since it's designed to be one long song. It's almost fall, almost the time of the year for the song. #justiceforsweetseason
Now I know why I appreciate crossroad so much now. That middle 8 is the huge payoff for the song. |

To think of it, I actually don't really mind with this thing happening in Love songs, altho I remember this was my biggest complaint about crossroad until it dismisses on its own. Maybe because there are other songs in my iTunes that's also has this kind of problem only worse lol |

For a while I thought I was alone with my love for Love songs but I'm happy to see other people on here loving it too! xD November is one of my most played songs on iTunes. Actually all of Love songs is in my top 100 most played (minus interludes. I'm just not a huge interlude fan.) Crossroad is one of those songs that I never really think about but when it comes on I'm just like "Oh yeah. This exists. And it's beautiful. Wait. Huh? Why do I always forget about it?" Besides that, however, most of the album is pure gold for me. Hell, that makes me think. If someone said that I could only own one Ayumi Hamasaki album I'd probably choose Love songs. (Or maybe I am.... They're equal in the amount of love I have for them. Most likely Love songs, though.)

I do love almost all of Love songs, but MOON and Love song are already enough for making the album worth. I just love picking my headphones and listening to MOON at night, when it's really silent. The atmosphere of the song is just incredible to me.
|
I like Love songs as an album but whenever I reach that album to pick songs to put into my iPod I only put MOON on lol sending mail is epic though, love the melody in the pre-chorus; so haunting.
|
I wish they would have made "November" a tad more trancy and granted the song some sort of climax, in terms of the chorus. I even remember some of us stating similar opinions about that song and how they wished "November" to be somewhat more fierce and powerful.
|
Why would a song about peacefully watching your significant other in their sleep be fierce or powerful?

The songs are the way they are for a reason, no doubt, but initially you definitely notice how they sort of hover around 90/95% lift off for most of their entirety. Sending mail is the same way. It's the last reputation where the song finally comes together. Love songs is definitely an album that requires a lot of patience. |
You're talking about the perfect masterpiece called November now? Great. That song is the reason why I still remember there's a album called Love songs in Ayu's discography. I haven't listened to it at all after 2011 for some reason but whenever November is mentioned, I remember the album that made me go through the whole pack of different feels. November stood out to me the best from album tracks and became my personal favorite from the album. :heart
