Two Madonna songs on Radio 1's new covers' album
Glenn Turner [glenn@glenn-turner.com]
Sun 19/08/2007 3:27 PM

Various sites reports that the album will be released on October 1.

Taken from http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/news/ent...rs_album.shtml

Mika and Amy Winehouse are just two of the 40 acts that are recording cover versions to celebrate Radio 1's 40th birthday.

The idea is each band had to pick a hit from the past 40 years.

For example, Robbie Williams got 1970 and has recorded Lola by the Kinks. He did that with Guy Chambers.

Check out the full tracklisting:

1967 – Flowers In The Rain (The Move) covered by The Kaiser Chiefs
1968 – All Along The Watchtower (Jimi Hendrix Experience) covered by The Fratellis
1969 – Cupid (Johnny Nash) covered by Amy Winehouse
1970 – Lola (The Kinks) covered by Robbie Williams
1971 – Your Song (Elton John) covered by The Streets
1972 – Betcha By Golly Wow (The Stylistics) covered by Sugababes
1973 – You’re So Vain (Carly Simon) covered by The Feeling
1974 – Band On The Run (Wings) covered by Foo Fighters
1975 – Love Is The Drug (Roxy Music) covered by Kylie
1976 – Let’s Stick Together (Bryan Ferry) covered by KT Tunstall
1977 – Sound & Vision (David Bowie) covered by Franz Ferdinand
1978 – Teenage Kicks (The Undertones) covered by The Raconteurs
1979 – Can’t Stand Losing You (The Police) covered by Mika
1980 – Too Much Too Young (The Specials) covered by Kasabian
1981 – Under Pressure (Queen & David Bowie) covered by Keane
1982 – Town Called Malice (The Jam) covered by McFly
1983 – Come Back And Stay (Paul Young) covered by James Morrison
1984 – Careless Whisper (George Michael) covered by The Gossip
1985 – The Power Of Love (Huey Lewis & The News) covered by Pigeon Detectives

I can't stand Natasha Bedingfield, this should be interesting. I am excited for the Groove Armada cover though.

Partino 20th August 2007 09:02 AM

your song cover by the streets and steady as she goes covered by corinne bailey ray??? that's something now one has seen coming ... but you know radio 1 is always good for some fun ... has anyone heared NUMB covered by Jamelia ... that's an awesome track ...

kotora 20th August 2007 04:57 PM

Steady As She Goes (The Raconteurs) is not the hit in 2006. It should be Hung up or Sorry by Madonna.

Father & Son for 2005? NOOOOO....We Belong Together by mimi or Hips don't lie...

The track list is strange, sort of.

Vinylfantasy 21st August 2007 09:32 AM

I FINALLY found the clip of The Beat Goes On and uploaded it to my webspace.

DO NOT HOTLINK THIS FILE! If I find out, you'll have the Hung Up boombox shoved so far up your you-know-what that you'll never want to listen to Madonna again.

Vinylfantasy 22nd August 2007 02:04 AM

The picture's fake, some guy from the MadonnaMad forums did it. He's the same guy who did the one someone posted on ICON of Madonna which had the "Licorice" title.

Vinylfantasy 22nd August 2007 02:25 AM

"Sing", the song Annie Lennox did with Madonna, is now leaked as well. You can find it on my webspace here.

Again, PLEASE DO NOT HOTLINK. Thanks.

Partino 22nd August 2007 02:30 AM

ha ... finally ... a short clip from the song sing is leaked and a snippet from the beat goes on as earlier mentioned to ... feel free to download and spread the word that the queen is back ... and she's coming with a bang :)

Annie Lennox - Sing

Madonna - The Beat goes on

well the beat goes on isn't the best sound but you can clearly hear in which direction the album goes ... damn .. can't wait till the album is out

EDIT: DAMN ... steven you are fast ... almost as fast as the rumored album titles are popping up for her new album :roflmao

Vinylfantasy 22nd August 2007 02:49 AM

My Madonna sense tingles and I just run to the computer. :laugh As you can see, I'm on the computer all too often.
