That's a good thing to hear! Maybe HEART STATION helped a bit?

AyUta 7th June 2008 05:20 PM

Oh wow. That's good! :D

bakacat 7th June 2008 06:13 PM

That's funny, haha. :) Wow, HEART STATION is on its way to a million! I still can't believe it's happening. XD

Is LF still on?

Yes, LF is still on (episode 9 on last thursday with a decent 18% rating). I just hope HS will jump back to top 10 on Sat....

That's an easy answer. Rain is better than Se7en. :bgiggle Don't go tell Kaori, okay. This is our little secret. XD

Yeah, and if HEART STATION ends up being the last female album to sell a million, it'd be neat since Hikki's got the biggest selling album and stuff.

I think people saw UTADA as Cubic U all grown up. Like, "Is that Cubic U all grown-up with tits?! :OMG

Speaking of Exodus, I remember reading that her j-fans where I just shocked at the fact she wore a bikini in Easy Breezy. Ugh, I looked at the video and that bikini looks more like a one-piece bathing suit...:think Why were they so shocked at that? :innocent

You know, even though it has sold over 2.5 million copies, I sorta wanted SINGLE COLLECTION to sell like A BEST. :tipsy

AyUta 7th June 2008 08:21 PM

^ :roflmao
It was a one piece! :irked

They were GOING to make her wear a two piece but Hikki said no to that. I forgot where I read about that though.

Melon Panda 8th June 2008 01:53 AM

I like that Utada sells her music more than her image, although her image is pretty much that she sells music. Perhaps after hearing ULTRA BLUE and HEART STATION, consumers miss her old music? The singles collection may not have sold as much as A BEST, but times are different now and the album is still blessed with an amazing chart life.

Amai Yume 8th June 2008 02:00 AM

I can't wait until HEART STATION hits the million mark. I don't think it'll be the last album to hit the million mark though. I think there's someone else but I won't mention who cause there might be an uproar and get off-topic from Hikki.

I don't necessarily think that people associated Utada as the grown-up version of Cubic U. Honestly, they are nothing alike and they seem like 2 completely different people.

DOLCE 8th June 2008 02:04 AM

Watch HEART STATION stop at like 995k. I think I would die :thud

Luv ~Venus~ 8th June 2008 02:18 AM

Tbh, I don't want HEART STATION to be the last female album to sell a million. I mean, Hikki has some more under her belt and I still want them to hit the 1 million mark. Besides, that's not gonna happen any time soon. I mean, when Ayu retires, u can bet her BEST albums and such are gonna hit a million. We have Kuu whose popularity will rise again ans she'll be sellin' like hot cakes. I believe BoA's next BEST album will be a million seller. Oh, Amai! That someone else as in Namie, right? =/ Yea, I think this best album might be a million seller. Unfortunately, they are the only ones I see ever getting close to a million. Today's female artists doesn't seem to offer much music-wise and image-wise as they seem to copy each other and older female artists. =/ That's sad but true.

Amai, u don't think Cubic U and UTADA are alike? :bchuck I kinda see it tho. lol

ALPHY 8th June 2008 02:29 AM

Mmm, that's what I like about Hikki, she is more about bringing music to an audience, rather than gaining sales, unlike some people...

:P

Amai Yume 8th June 2008 02:38 AM

Yea, I don't really see the similarity between Utada and Cubic U. Cubic U is more like your every-day girl who's natural and young and singing (or rapping as may be the case) while Utada is much more mature in her sound and deep.

And I would love Hikki to have another million selling album cause that would just put her on a track that nobody else can pass.

Namie's BEST album...I'm not actually positive that it will hit the million. I wouldn't be surprised though cause we have ANOTHER Vidal Sasoon Campaign song as well as another song with a drama tie-in. I really hope it does though but as of now, I'm skeptical. Ayu's retiring BEST album(s) will be like a blaze of glory I think and everyone will be like woah. Same for Hikki though. BoA's next BEST album...I don't see that happening with her latest slump in sales...But yeah, I was talking about Kuu. She'll pick up her momentum and get another million album I think.

ALPHY 8th June 2008 02:53 AM

Seeing that SINGLE COLLECTION VOL. 1 came out after three "Utada Hikaru" albums, it's likely to think that Hikki will release VOL. 2 after her next Japanese album, unless she says nooooooo to EMI.

Luv ~Venus~ 8th June 2008 03:04 AM

^I think she will. Idk, but I think Hikki had too much under her belt at the time when EMI asked her or rather went behind her back about the SINGLE COLLECTION. I mean, she was outta the country and she was working on Exodus. SC caught her off guard I guess.

LOL @ the rapping part. You have a great point or rather great points. :yes

Isn't Hikki like on a track that nobody else can pass though? :bchuck

Namie with a drama tie-in? Are there going to be good drama that's gonna air when it's released? I wouldn't be surprised if they was another Vidal Sasoon song either. Namie did a great job delivering that campaign to people with her music. You know, I can't imagine Hikki doin' the 60s70s80s looks. I think I would died of laughter after watching her dance on stage saying, "Darling, are you ROCK STEADY?!" *can't control laughter* Anyway, BEST of SOUL was a another peak for BoA as u can say and I think with her releasing another one in a year of two, would give her another peak in her career. As for Kuu, a million selling album is definite high for her. I don't see for her not to get another million seller. Sure that scandal will be tagged to her name now but most people will forgive her if they hadn't already and up she goes. :yes

Amai Yume 8th June 2008 03:13 AM

Yep I agree Luv!!!

I couldn't even believe that was Hikki rapping on How Ya Doin' when I heard it. I thought it was some other person that was unidentified like on some of the tracks with some random guy singing on it. Ticket 4 Two FOREVER!

And you're also right, Hikki's already on a track which nobody can pass. HEART STATION alone shows some of that. With the low sales on music industry lately, not many people are passing their previous album sales but Hikki has outsold Ultra Blue. Week 11 comparison = Ultra Blue (46) vs. HEART STATION (6).

BTW, I am in love with "Niji-iro Bus"

DOLCE 8th June 2008 03:54 AM

I forgot that it's Utada's 10th anniversary this year. Do you guys think she will do anything special?

Luv ~Venus~ 8th June 2008 04:16 AM

^I wouldn't be surprised if she released a "special" single or release a box collection of all of her material. :heart I hope to have all of her albums by her anniversary tho. It's like my gift to her for being my fave artist all this years and make such hot music. :bchuck

@Amai: Woah! Woah! Woah! Backtrack. That was Hikki rappin' in How Ya Doin'? D: D: D: I thought it was some random lady rappin'. Was she listened as the rapper in the song? D: D: D:

DOLCE 8th June 2008 04:36 AM

A box collection would be niceeee :heart. Another possibility is that her english album could be her 10th anniversary thingy O_O?

Melon Panda 8th June 2008 04:51 AM

I just listened to her Cubic U album and really liked it. I thought I wouldn't as I generally lean toward pop, but her R&B is done too well for me to dislike it. I don't see the connection between Cubic U and Utada either - the first is R&B, and the second is experimental-pop. The styles are too different for me to put them together.

I'm not sure how I feel about her releasing another compilation album after another studio album is released. Maybe I'll change my mind after HEART STATION's successor comes by, but right now, it seems too rushed to me. After four albums is fine though.

I really don't want the English album to be her tenth anniversary "thing." I'm still rooting for a mini-album, though that probably won't happen. She might have a concert or special single instead.

Lastly, it'd be kind of nice if her album was the last million-selling album from a solo female artist. I'm still skeptical of other artists at this point.
