& speaking of One Love , it's the no.1 single currently in Taiwan . I was watching MTV Mandarin's J & K Pop chart & they kicked off Tegomass's Aiaigasa .

Among others on the top10 single chart list includes YUI's SUMMER SONG , High King , Leah Dizon's Vanilla , TOHOSHINKi's Beautiful you / (the title I forgot lol) , KAT-TUN's DUES

& just like before , I was looking at the bottom of the PV & not so much on the PV itself as I was reading the lyrics of the song . Man it's a chore reading traditional chinese wordings :dead2

I'm surprised that Leah Dizon is more popular in Taiwan/Hong Kong compared to Japan.

and EXILE..they need to hire someone better to do album covers. Their third BEST album is going to do even worse.

The songs on this best aren't as popular as the ones on CATCHY BEST (i.e. Choo Choo TRAIN, Pure and Gingatetsudou 999). The BALLAD BEST might be the one that does the best out of the 3 though...

It's a BALLAD BEST, Japanese love ballads. Not to mention they'll be on their dome tour when it will be released.

oh yes she's quite popular in Taiwan . Her Vanilla PV's doing pretty well on the Top 10 J & K Pop singles chart in Taiwan as I was watching MTV Mandarin yesterday when they were airing their J & K Pop chart in Taiwan .

At the moment I think she ranked even higher than BoA's latest release .

w-inds's apparently very popular in Taiwan too . Their new album's currently ranked no.2 on the Top 10 J/Kpop album chart . They're being denied the top spot by Super Junior Happy

I think avex only printed out limited amounts copies of B&L ? That I'm not sure but yes B&L didn't sell as well as her 1st 2 BEST compliations .

I put it down to a serious lacking in some of the ballads that she didn't include in the tracklist . She really should have included the Black Cherry ballads to make the tracklist more complete in some manner or sorts .

I don't think Japan likes ballad compliations , A BALLADS didn't sell as well as A BEST & at that time A BALLADS was considered a flop as it failed to sell a million copies

kumi's BEST ~BOUNCE & LOVERS~ was limited to a lot more copies though... (if it was).

^ best bounce and lovers is limited, it's just that it didn't sell enough copies :P BUT is supossed to be limited edition too.

A BALLADS - yes I know it was eventually certified million by RIAJ but of course at that time where physical CD sales were really good , it was considered a flop by many people as they did an unfair comparsion of A BALLADS against A BEST , sales wise

& of course now it's a different thing altogether

Yeah, exactly. Having a best album do just 1 million was pretty much a flop, especially when compared to A BEST, or to Single Collection Vol. 1, which was sold 1 year later and still sold 1.4 million in the first week.

Ehh...EXILE still has 2 huge hit ballads on there so it'll still do decently and if the new ballad (which I'm assuming will be released on this album) does well, the album will be successful.

Most of their artists are either in J-storm or in the regular Johnny's Entertainment label. From the top of my head I can only think of V6/SMAP/T&T not being part of the 2 labels.

But it was a ballads compilation and most of the songs were remixed (which makes it feel more like a remix album) and it's almost sold a million, it was far away from a flop. Let alone there were some songs that where already on the first A BEST.
If it was a usual BEST then it would be a flop. A BEST and Single Collection were mainly hits (singles) in ayu's case also some only album tracks. Looking at the circumstances A BALLADS didn't flop for what it really is and it brought avex HUGE profit.
ayu had a mini-album after that with only 8 songs selling over a million, was pretty amazing ^_^.

I don't think it's fair to compare A BALLADS with A BEST & Utada's Single Collection since the music/style on A BALLADS is totally different as compared to the other 2 .

Like what you said , A BALLADS feels more like a remix album but the other 2 are well best compliations
