this album is just not my vibe. I don't want to force myself to liking Ayustuff, I just must like it

so this album, I dislike. can't say OMG it's disaster I hate it, but I certainly do not like it
I like the PVs, but not the music

music sounds boring for me. I feel so indifferent to every song. I mean, I shouldn't be. Ayusongs always made me feel something...even some of latest releases which I may not liked much.

hmm, I can't say I'm dissapointed. the album is made on a good level, but the music is boring, blank, flat and just bad, imo. I don't like the style, the vibe, the music doesn't appeal to me at all

dunno if it's due to her voice that made her put songs with such a style into the album, or anything else, but I don't like the album at all

I think I do prefer "NEXT LEVEL" to it, sorry :D

Though, I'm surprised that you like meaning of Love so much, yet You were... is towards the bottom of your list? The reason I love meaning of Love is because it reminds me so much of You were..., my favourite track, hah. :O

I feel that meaning of Love's vocals are much better, and of course, it's a newer song, so I got tired of You were... For me, meaning of Love is a better version of You were... ahaha. Also, I really love the lyrics of meaning of Love much better than You were, so that also gives it more points. ahaha

Aww man... The only album I've ever pre-ordered, and Ayu thinks it's her best...and people don't like it... Kinda depressing :(

Ah, well, there's got to be some people that love this album as much as me, right? (^_^);

As soon as I have time, I'll sit down and write my review on the album :yes It will be fun! :D

There's the epic rock track, mid-tempo rock ballad, winter ballad, oriental ballad, MY ALL-type uplifting song, upbeat summer track... I feel like she usually pulls off the mixture of styles better than she did here though. This album is just not cohesive at all, yet her earlier albums that had the same mixture of tracks felt much more cohesive somehow. So I have no idea what's really missing, if not the fact that even though this album has a lot of strong songs, it just doesn't really all tie together nice and neatly. :(

yeah this is what I mean. All the right songs are there, and all the album tracks are actually really strong. I just... don't think they all belong together on one album...

From everything I have heard so far (basically everything that's leaked), this is my new favorite Ayumi album, so you're not alone. Sheesh, I even like the interludes quite a bit.

I'm going to hold off any review writing until the entire album is out in 320.

primavera♥ 8th April 2010 11:12 PM

i think the way people say it isnt cohesive is correct. but thats what i like. it even moreso showcases the "Circus" side of the album. many a circus goes from one random thing to another although the different acts may still be good. i mean this isnt Cirque du Soleil here (which is quite interesting in itself) but just a circus. and rock n roll. well rock. plus the world of rock in roll is usually by western connotation a bit crazy hehe.

i find the album works fine for me when i think of it in that sense however. its random but i find everything to be very good myself overall. i loves it

anyway the first parts of what i said may not have made sense to anyone. i dont think anything i say ever does XD

milky_way 9th April 2010 02:18 AM

I can definitely say that the worst songs on the album are the singles, and I haven't even hear all the album songs yet :P

Max_ZZZ 9th April 2010 02:34 AM

THE introduction
i like it!! epic way to start off the album
Microphone
such a good song, was instantly a favourite
count down
upgrade guilty = the much better version of it was
Sunset ~LOVE is ALL~
this song needs to die. now. and it needs to leave quietly so the album can maintain it's dignity.
BALLAD
such a good song, sooo beautiful
Last Links
meh not really into it. was sad to come to a halt in my love for the album tracks. but it might grow on me, i don't see what the special beginning everyone was talking about is LOL
montage
i like it. it doesn't sound as much as an interlude as it does some theme song, but it's good that way because it evolves so much
Don't Look Back
amazing, another love at first hear
Lady Dynamite
i don't like it '-___- sounds terrible to me ugh what a stain on the album
Sexy Little Things
LOL SO CATCHY! i like it, it's very unique sounding
Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~
i loved this song since time, glad it has a nice spot in the album
meaning of Love
Days+ MY ALL = such a good song, I love it
You were...
still an amazing ballad
RED LINE ~for TA~ (album version)
album version my rass
you singing by yourself at the end isn't a change LOL
well, ya mediocre song '-___- definitely an ending kind of song lol

overall... this album is a 8/10 for me. i like 8/12 songs on it a lot, if not for the interludes spicing up the album it would be 7/10 for me, but i'm happy the songs i like, are songs i LOOOVE. i'm so please =]

Picaflor 7/4 9th April 2010 03:30 AM

i'm apparently the only one who doesn't like don't look back. -_-;

jbrat2219 9th April 2010 04:55 AM

It seems like the reviews for this album are a little more mixed than before! None the less I know I like all of the songs with PVs and that's 8 of them so I doubt anything will make me hate this album :)

freedreamer 9th April 2010 05:53 AM

Seems like as long as an album is segmented well, the overall appeal to the audience would be better. just look at M-u and NEXT LEVEL versus say...GUILTY (dark then happy suddenly) and Secret...

milky_way 9th April 2010 06:29 AM

Am I the only one that doesn't care about the flow of the songs? I rarely listen to albums straight through and just listen to them on shuffle.

I'm so confused by what you mean here. XD I actually think GUILTY has really good flow, even with the suddenly happy glitter popping up. It just doesn't really feel out of place for me and it never has. And I think NEXT LEVEL has not so good flow, and it wasn't received well by AHS fans either (it's much more universally disliked than GUILTY, and it's second least favorite in general after ASFXX). While (miss)understood is totally beloved and has a really huge variety of songs with an okay flow...

It may not matter when listening to the songs, but when you're judging an ALBUM you have to judge it as an ALBUM not as "oh hey look at these songs"

Well..for me I thought m-u and NL had very clearly segmented sections. And comparing the sections of GUILTY, Secret, Rock'n'Roll Circus..they're about the same. And personally personally, when an album starts off darker, it gives a really cool feeling but not so much a complete feeling. LOl..just my sentiments. (and i love GUILTY)

what m-u and NL had in common was that the albums started off happy, then became slightly darker..then ended off on a happier tone again. but as for GUILTY, Secret and R'n'RC (which shud be the case), they start of dark and end happy. Not that there's a problem or coz but maybe to a listener, it lacks this wholesome feeling..if I may add, I think MY STORY gives me the latter vibe too...

but ultimately its all up to the person to feel for himself/herself anyway.

I am not thinking in that way. Consider if you shuffle this album in your mp3 player, when it randomizes the songs order as Red Line [Album Version] after Microphone, it sounds like Hi-bye (to me).

GRACE 9th April 2010 10:58 PM

I changed the tracklist in my iPod and I actually like the album a LOT more :D

Spoiler:

10. Don't look back
11. montage
12. Microphone
13. count down
14. You were...
15. RED LINE ~for TA~ (Album Version)

lumieregrl 9th April 2010 11:01 PM

^ Oh, that looks like it would sound better. I'm going to try it when the 320 is out. :yes

sitara 10th April 2010 01:56 AM

just listened to the whole album.
sadly, it didn't leave an all too great impression on me :( i do like little things here and there, but nothing got me OMG EXCITED :p

wth is this album called rock n' roll circus???
i cannot find any rock n' roll tunes except for microphone, and not really a circus theme except for one interlude and slt. in my mind she missed her target with this one, "pop circus" or "ballad circus" would still have been more accurate imo :p lol

it will grow on me i guess, but i NEXT LEVEL has been the most exciting ayu release for me in the last few years.

lumieregrl 10th April 2010 01:57 AM

I think the circus implies a mix, a variety of 'acts'.
