I hope Ayu promotes the hell out of her new release.

Or she can take a cue from Namie and be all miserable. Miserable pushes albums.

Do you know where I can buy one? I tried Ebay, but the ones they sell over there are overly used @_@

Yeap.. Namie's 2nd peak was showing for a while before Best Fiction... But most western people who were jpop fans in the 2000s didn't really now about her, most who knew about her just thought she was some has-been 90s singer, theyweren't following her moves and didn't pay attention until not paying attention was impossible^^

I'm not sure what you're saying but how are you speaking for all Western Jpop fans? And even if what you're saying is true, that doesn't change the fact that her second coming began with Queen of HipPop. I mean Mr Children is a huge band in Japan and I personally have chosen to ignore their existence in my 10 yrs plus of J-fandom. That doesn't change the fact that they've always been popular.

I'm explaining why a lot of the western jpop fans believe Namie's comeback came out of nowhere during Best Fiction: Because most of them weren't paying attention to her before it.

But, as I also stated, she was growing bigger for a while when the best actually happened...

TeamAyu2004 4th July 2012 02:18 AM

I just said what I said because she went from selling 400-500K to almost 2 million.
I understand it was a best album, but I consider that I really good seller compared to the 2 million copies she sold of best fiction.

someone here again telling people to get a life. really, how many are you in your kind?

Most of the comments there are bashing her. You-Know-Who lol ***** really? If they don't have anything good to say why can't they keep silent. :rolleyes

Andrenekoi makes me lol sometimes.

Anyway. I'm not quite sure I care about Namie's sales and promotion but the discussion is interesting I guess.
I would simply like to see Ayu's sales not continue on a downward trend but I doubt that'll happen. Party Queen's sales contribute to that pessimism. Hopefully this best album sells very well.

Andrenekoi 4th July 2012 06:36 AM

^The sales will reach bottom level sooner or later... And when that happens, she will oversell herself... even if only for 5k or 10k :P

brener 5th July 2012 06:32 PM

any numbers for this week?!

BEST FICTION's sales pretty much took everyone by surprise though. People were expecting it to be a success...but not a 1.8million copies sold kind of success. I'd say most casual j-pop fans noticed her when PLAY was released...even more so when 60s70s80s came out.

I disagree about not many people knowing about her also. She gained a lot of notoriety with oversea j-pop fans thanks to inuyasha and at the time j-urban had a huge fandom in the oversea japanese music scene and she was at the helm of that.

Namie Amuro still doesn't have an International fan base the size of Ayu's or Hikki's nor do more people know who she is outside Japan, just take a look at the number of their last.fm listeners for instance. I don't think J-urban has ever actually had a big fan base around the world. I mean I discovered her in 2005 and tbh I didn't think she was that great compared to the other two as her music back at the time (Style, Queen of Hip Hop) sounded way too American for my taste and I was into completely different stuff. So I pretty much agree that her International fan base started getting bigger with QoHH and PLAY and that before that not many people actually gave a damn about her.

I don't know the weekly numbers, because my source is in Holiday.
If he/she gets back, maybe we can have the numbers later, I will post it.
