hmm interesting.

I honestly the album lacks musical depth (well I only have PLAY, PAST < FUTURE, BEST FICTION & Checkmate!)... but the songs from these albums were much more interesting.

WILD, Dr., Wonder Woman, Unusual, Violet Sauce etc etc.. much more interesting to listen to, and much more going.

That said, I think Uncontrolled as a whole is ridiculously catchy. It's so easy on the ears... I think it'd be a hit in the US market, haha.

The album version of Break It is a tad disappointing. I like the sound, but it lacks an "oomph" that i found in the single version. The new songs are all pretty good... SPOTLIGHT is ugh so catchy i ****ing love it.

the English versions of GO ROUND and YEAH-OH are okay.. prefer the Japanese but they're not bad. still love them ahahha

ayu_ready? 25th June 2012 10:58 AM

the songs previously released seem to be the only power for this album. because others sound kinda cheap/repetitive & boring. I really like the new version of Break It, maybe you just can't spoil a great song by any means? I also like Let's Go very much and Hot Girls isn't that awful, but rather - okay. I guess ONLY YOU is the best song off the new songs in the album

other than that, I really love the album but only because of the bunch of previously released great stuff put in there

And "it's quite alright" used to rhyme with "kamawanai"; it certainly doesn't rhyme with "one thing" and just sounds awkward and stupid now.

In Go-round, why the hell were "how many days" and "how many tears" changed? So needless, and it negatively impacts the song.

THIS. SO. FREAKIN'. MUCH. :yes:yes:yes:yes

UHPlus 25th June 2012 12:20 PM

One thing that i loved about "YEAH OH" is that the lyrics rhyme in the pre-chorus. The english lyrics totally ruined the song because they are poorly written...

tokyoxjapanxfan 25th June 2012 03:58 PM

Hmm, in the spotlight and only you were pretty well done in terms of english, so it's strange that they kind of failed at making yeah oh, etc. work.

break it is interesting. i don't think it's bad, it's just different.

i think there's still a lot of good content on the album because, well, she released a lot of good singles haha.

"Uncontrolled" is mundane and uninspired. From the singles all the way to the finished product, this album is a complete mess. The album versions of "Break It", "Yeah-Oh" and "Go Round" were unnecessary. The only tracks that I have yet to delete from my hard drive are "Let's go" and "Naked". Everything else I deleted after a few listens (in the spotlight, only you, hot girls) or didn't like the the first time around (s.s.w.d, tempest, gmb, love story, fight together).

How in the world Namie and Co. went from the excellence that was "PAST<FUTURE" to this monotonous mess is beyond me.

kotora 25th June 2012 06:23 PM

Uncontrolled proves that it is not PAST < FUTURE, but it is PAST > FUTURE (so far).

I think Namie is trying something new for her career in Uncontrolled.

Rocky Raven 25th June 2012 06:29 PM

Lady~Deviance: Wow, i wish that i could put myself in ur place to see how bad this album is- comparing to P<F, I really do.
Tbh, reading ur comment makes me feel like Namie is that kind of trashy artists who throw random typical songs into an album just to fulfill the shake of releasing something new.

Imo P<F only have FAST CAR and Defend Love that are really awesome, the other album tracks like MY LOVE FIRST TIMER etc... terrible. The rest are fine, while WILD is just okay(haven't play it for years). => It's a good album in Namie's standard

But this album is totally different. Queen of Hip Pop/PLAY & P<F would never ever had a song like In The Spotlight/Hot Girls

love in music 25th June 2012 06:34 PM

Well even though I didn't like P<F the songs were more memorable than these ones and she didn't sound so bored in them. Idk she just seems really bored/uninspired with her career lately. More so than usual I mean.. Hope she can get her groove back.

^Shouldn't it be "Hip-POP" ?

emi♡ 25th June 2012 08:07 PM

I do think the songs on P<F were more inspired...mostly because they weren't just unoriginal dance copies of other songs...

But I feel like a lot of the P<F songs were just bad, so meh. P<F was kind of a mess too. A lot of her albums are messy it seems. Kind of like hikki's R&B albums.

Uncontrolled has these songs that are bad, but in a listenable kind of way....well listenable if you like dance and don't care about copies.

Kouyou 25th June 2012 08:18 PM

I'm waiting for my copy of the album to listen to it, but from what I've seen on this thread, I hope I'm not too disappointed with it. Seems like there's a lot of negative feedback. :no

JackieRos 25th June 2012 09:32 PM

^I noticed that too.
I'm going to listen to it before buying the playbutton.

...................
wow this album is pure genius I love iiiiiiiit.
About the new version of the songs I like break it but I love the original better.
Yeah oh I do like the only part that I hate is the more ore ore ignore nore nore parts -.- but
I love that the song sounds louder.

ILoveGeniuses 26th June 2012 01:20 AM

Honestly, I've ONLY heard Only You, Break It, Get Myself Back and a small clip of In The Spotlight. However, I really love first 3. In The Spotlight from what I heard though, sounded to me sorta like something typical a western artist might do with a jpop twist in it. I like it, but don't absolutely love it.

Also, LOVE THE POSTER. Just disappointed its not the uhhh vertical shape. Horizontal ones are harder for me to find room to put em right now. Plus i must say I ADORE THE COVERS. The eclipse is a neat idea and I love seeing Namie a little more naturally without so much make-up.

You know those Albums would suck if they did, right?

"WILD" is the best thing Namie has ever done. "Past<Future" is her best Album.

I remember when we got the Singles AND the New Album Tracks for "Past<Future" and the Music Videos and were as satisfied as some people are pretending to be now for "Unfinis-Uncontrolled".

So all the hate for Past<Future seems rather......Mnh....Petty.

I also remember when people were hating on Namie's lackluster Single Dump of this era which the Album seems to have erased from people's minds because they're all packaged up in a brand new case with a cover people didn't even like.

People were saying these last 4 new songs better be BOSS considering the only thing anybody really liked A LOT was "Yeah-Oh" and to a lesser extent "Naked."

And even the last 4 songs brought nothing to the table. So what is it people are loving about this Album now? The brand new disc smell? Because these are the same crusty songs as before. Just old. And they didn't even age well. At All. They went straight to decrepit.

I STILL listen to "Past<Future". It's in my Car Disc Player right now. I will NEVER EVER help a disc of "Underdevelope-Uncontrolled" grace the shores of this land with my money.

"Past<Future" is like Concord Grape Juice and "Unsuccessfu-Uncontrolled" is what that Grapefall Lady stomped out right before FOX5 News Anchors pretended to care.

Andrenekoi 26th June 2012 06:07 AM

Well.... IMO P<F is musically far more inspired. She took risks with a lot of tracks and did some very unique music, I really like that album.

But Uncontrolled has something I really love... Even if most of the songs are electronic dance songs, they feel surprisingly... warm? Haha! I really loved how her singing put a lot of soul and feeling even on the most silly dance songs! Also, the ballads sound very powerful and emotional on the album context... Far more than they did before IMO. I was expecting a really bad generic album, but I'm gladly surprised^^

Zahara 26th June 2012 09:06 AM

""Past<Future" is her best Album."

And, to me, it's also her most boring album. Seriously, Uncontrolled is more livelier. Next.
