More than 10k, less than 30k

kendelle 7th July 2014 07:15 AM

So we only have position and no solid numbers yet?

You guys are so dramatic. :P
It'll sell between 35-50k first week. Being below Frozen doesn't mean anything as it usually sells well on the weekend.

KuuXAyu-fan 7th July 2014 11:45 AM

1st Week
6th Day
Position: #8

SolarAngel 7th July 2014 11:51 AM

Well last week's 5th place sold under 20k though that's an extremely loose indicator..

The albums from last week on top 3 sold less than the albums on top 3 this week, so that's a good indicator that the #5 from this week can also have higher numbers :)

People are being pessimist, Colours still can sell more than 30k this week...

ArronHayre 7th July 2014 12:20 PM

I feel like everybody is slightly over-reacting. Just because on a usual week an album that charts at #5 sells around 20,000. Does not mean that this will happen to Ayu, especially since its such a competitive week. I think she is going to sell around 40,000 - 45,000.

brener 7th July 2014 12:53 PM

There are people here that never followed Oricon daily/weekly numbers and want to make estimatives, the album won't sell only 20k, so chill out.

All aspects of the movie is overrated. If you are interested in a really good animated film OST, try How to Train Your Dragon.

brener 7th July 2014 03:38 PM

^ I've watched that in the movies, waiting for the sequel =)

AyuWorld 7th July 2014 03:43 PM

speaking of Hello New Me btw, it seems popular that it got quite many covers for it, like this

I like this guy's version too =p

and this girl, woa she nailed it xD

its a great tie-ins of a popular drama, sadly it didnt have PV and not release physically =.=

brener 7th July 2014 03:48 PM

^ wow that is awesome, Hello new me turned to be the smash song of Colours, it's doing great on digital charts ^^

It's hard to tell since there are no daily numbers. Hope this is really just all due to a competitive week.

It's not selling because no one cares in Japan. I saw two types of advertising for Colours: Posters in Shibuya with speakers periodically playing samples from the album and the vans (Linked because it's a big image).

However, when it comes to actually buying the album? Aye, good luck. Remember them photos from years ago when she released good albums and you'd see a massive display in Tower Records with all the copies selling out? There is nothing like that for Colours. I was in various record shops after the album came out, but before I left Japan and I didnt see a single copy for sale. That's not because it was sold out: It's because there wasn't even a section for it.

It's a terrible album and the (lack of) sales are justified.

visionfactory 7th July 2014 07:34 PM

^But I believe there is a special section for ayu in every TR store. They even posted pics of it

You should check the past posts of this thread because there was indeed A LOT of promo in streets and stores :P

I'm happy to see Hello new me is getting so much love. You can see why ayu continues to make these types of songs. They really do well with the general public.

marty 7th July 2014 08:52 PM

I'm so happy Hello new me seems to be popular! I still love that adorable piece! <3
Daaaamn, I can't wait for these album numbers...

spanishfan 7th July 2014 09:46 PM

Some people must be blind... Seriously
You must see from 0:30 to 0:40, there are people buying the album in the hall of that shop (Tower Records?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xYPz1uXEoQ

And you can see people wearing tour stuff everywhere before the venue footage (up to 1:03)

We still don't know sales, just position, as far as we know this album is doing like last year's. And people are complaining about sales...

emi♡ 7th July 2014 09:57 PM

Single sales in Japan (at least for female artists) have been dropping forever. I wouldn't be surprised if it only sold like 20k....and the sad thing is, those would still be amazing numbers compared to 90% of artists in Japan.

I feel like I say this every time there is a release, and people still freak the fuck out anyway.

Singles will be obsolete in Japan one day, at least going the way of digital downloads, just like they are here in the US. It's just taking a lot longer because they've had years of culturally loving them.

And all the Frozen talk. Be happy for Avex that they own all Disney distribution rights and that they're making money. It'll cover failings elsewhere :P
