yeah it should be sold around that number

freedreamer 21st September 2007 04:22 PM

lol still #1...i guess Ayu is still fine...

Hatix 21st September 2007 04:27 PM

Yeah, 103K total sales prediction. And indeed, sales always go up a bit during the weekend.
But I agree though, it's too early to say, I just found it was having the same trend as glitter/fated. We'll see, but #1 shouldn't be a problem, the #2 has sold like 4x less.

Kilyk 21st September 2007 04:31 PM

I think Ayu needs to release a ballad single again to get better sales.

2 Years ago on 2005...

Anyway I think her next single will be a ballad.

ll moments ll 21st September 2007 07:22 PM

actually, once i think about it. the sales are okay for this day in age. they're not spectacular, but pretty reasonable. if you look at the current #5 single on the yearly charts its sold only 371k. you still have 200k+ sellers on the top 20 too (#20 is Mr. Children's Shirushi w/ 186k).

hopefully when more performances appear, sales will go up more.

leo_nardez 21st September 2007 08:38 PM

ya, i think as long as she stays #1 is OK...
haha...

ayuayu798 21st September 2007 09:34 PM

Yeah but now only hardcore fans collect physical singles. Most just purchase the single online for their cell phone or something. avex reported that mu-mo's membership has grown a lot this year.

Yeah. It would be nice if she does a different kind of ballads to. Most of her ballads has the same sort of feeling and the same sort of instruments. She should totally have another awesome ballad with some acoustic guitar! :luv2

Raleigh 21st September 2007 11:46 PM

^ That's kinda hard to do since she has tried literally all kinds of ballads, though I would like something different too. It's been a long while since we had a really moving ballad like HEAVEN or Dearest.

I think everyone wants the lonely, depressed, and expressional Ayu back instead of the pop diva who has it all Ayu (which I like more than the other Ayu)....maybe that's why her sales are like what they are?!

I'd rather have something like "Key ~eternal tie ver.~". :heart

I think that the case is that mu-mo's memebrship grew a lot this year so the physical sales went down while legal downloads might go up for avex artists and that's the reason (I think) why ayu's and kumi's last single are selling like how they selling.

I just needed to quote JoYi at AHN: :love awesome point of view ^^

Quite a big fuss over sales these days.... But if you'd all like to look at this from a critical point of view:

Like Beck_ken said Mu-mo HAS been affecting Avex sales over this last month or two. You can see an almost scary jump from their 100 000 sellers that goes straight down to almost half for first week sales. Now if you're still with me below you'll find high selling artists and their most recent release compared to the single prior to that:

AVEX
ex 1.
Koda Kumi's 'Freaky' first week: 108,349 [June 07]
Koda Kumi's 'Ai no Uta' first week: 65,276 [Sept 07]

ex 2.

TVXQ's "Summer" first week: 112,771 [Aug 07]
TVXQ's "Shine/Ride on" first week: Will probably round out to about 60K [Sept 07]

ex 3.
Utada's "Flavor of Life" first week: 270,605 [Feb 07]
Utada's "Beautiful World" first week: 93,518 [Aug 07]

Johnny's
ex 1.
Arashi's "We Can Make It" first week: 150,546 [May 07]
Arashi's "Happiness" first week: 192,196 [Sept 07]

ex 2.
Kinki Kids' "Brand New Song" first week: 180,534 [April 07]
Kink Kids' "Eien ni" first week: 190,495 [Sept 07]

Sony
ex 1.
L'arc en Ciel's "SEVENTH HEAVEN" first week: 111,969 [May 07]
L'arc en Ciel's "My Heart Draws a Dream" first week: 112,607 [Aug 07]

ex 2.
Yui's "Che.r.ry" first week: 81,373 [March 07]
Yui's "My Generation" first week: 79,277 [June 07]

Soo as you can see, the sales from other labels are relatively stable with their drop/increase. These artists are just as well known as Ayu (if not less) but their sales haven't seen as much change as Avex has. Not only is this whole mu-mo thing making it a lot harder for Avex artists to maintain good physical sales it's making it harder for their artists whose singles don't have longevity on the charts to gain good chart status. The only person I can think of that's been steady is Ai Otsuka, but I'd like to see a how her next single does first.

MY POINT IS -

It's not that Ayumi is losing popularity, sucks, or that people don't want to buy her singles - it's Avex's decision to make their singles available not only on iTunes, but mu-mo as well. Avex has some of the biggest artists, but to be honest downloading (I mean in the legal way) is just a lot faster then getting up and walking to a store. If we were to estimate t2m's sales based on glitter/fated's sale pattern - t2m's first day is about 2/3 of glitters, therefore we can assume that the weekly total for t2m would be 2/3 of 110165, which ='s roughly 73 k.

ANDDD I had absolutely no intention to type all that - I just wanted to tell people "OMG stop complaining!!!!" but I got really distracted and I should really be in bed right now and you could just ignore everything above and just blame it onnn:
"TEH SONG SKUCED ZOMG!!111!!!"

Have a nice day.

HiruNoKaze 22nd September 2007 02:13 AM

Hey, that is a nice post lol. Dangerous business when it comes to record-holding and such. Oh wait, the weekly sales take digital sales into account, yes? Well then iono. These are uncertain times lol.
