Probly I'm used to ayu's rushed release, so I didn't feel that rush when she did B&D-->(m)u-->Startin'. It's kinda normal to me actually lol :P. Also, ayu was already in a stable state (in terms of her popularity). It's the music choice (B&D) that hurt ayu's future sales because somehow it scared the Japanese away :shakehead.

Kuu, on the other hand, has just begun her fabulous diva career, and I don't really think she should have released Cherry Girl. Also, I think avex revealed the release of Black Cherry too soon. I remember that (m)u wasn't announced until it was close to the release date of B&D. Black Cherry was technically announced right after Cherry Girl had been announced.

njanjayrp 20th December 2008 08:41 PM

Yeah, it seems that RZ always likes to announce everything they have months before the actual release XD

.

Hahahaha As funny as this it, it really is true! I really don't know why the Japanese couldn't accept it, especially with the stuff Namie puts out. Not saying i don't like Namie, love her, but if Namie is putting out Western influenced stuff why can't Ayu??

Yum!Fruit_Salad! 20th December 2008 10:28 PM

^ I don't why. B&D gave Ayu a sound I've never heard from her, is full of energy and life, and still has a pop sound that doesn't make it totally out there.

MissElin_ 21st December 2008 12:02 AM

Thx for the update. Even if the sale numbers surpice me a little. I thought this was going to get better sales then MW... lol.

I do like Bold & Delicious, but a lot of people seem to get really scared with all the yayagagadadawowo going on there XD not to metion her crazy dancing on the PV xD

darc_aqua 21st December 2008 12:33 AM

As for the last part, it's about promotion hun. :yes Without all the extras that was given to consumers who brought MW, those sales that MW racked up would have been way lower. Besides, at least Hikki can sell without throwing 2 to 5 different versions of one single just to get people to buy the single.:bchuck

Oh that reminded me of something

Spoiler:
Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro 2005
Anime series tie-in, 2 versions
Debut sales: 150,020

Passion 2005
International game tie-in, 2 versions
Debut sales: 49,242

fairyland 2005
No tie-in, 2 versions
Debut sales: 172,221

150,020 < 172,221
49,242 < 172,221

^And don't forget that ayu can do that without drama/anime tie-ins which throws 1000 versions to trash =P
Also without the drama tie-ins/anime hikki's sales would be cracked. Tops her singles (FoL, BW/K&C) would do exatly like her singles in 2006 or even less.

lfe. 21st December 2008 01:41 AM

Was it ever explained how MW's sales indexes increased significantly in the last two days of the first week? Was it just like a weekend rush or something?

ayumisrael 21st December 2008 01:43 AM

^Weekend rush + sudden promotion and gifting/gifting at the tour.
MW also had 7 days for its first week Days/GREEN will have 6.

xLitax 21st December 2008 02:09 AM

Woo~ over 60k. :D

IA. Having more than two covers help (although tbh a lot of top artist are doing it nowadays so it's not like a "new" stunt) but FoL had amazing exposure and promotion.

Anyways it's sad to see such a big drop, but honestly this is very very good. It's almost to T2M sales so that's good.

Actually hikki has a very strong digital sales with most of the singles (tie ins or not). It's just that with tie ins, her physical sales will be stronger.

Tony G 21st December 2008 07:01 AM

Great sales. I think the TV promotion is helping her, especially for an artist that is considered to have "no casual fans".

I am not sure if Dareka had a tie-in with animes, just the CASSHERN movie which was released internationally, and so did BE MY LAST (and it had 2 versions, sold rather poorly).

bluegie 21st December 2008 10:03 AM

Dareka only had CASSHERN tie in, and it only has one format.
I really think hikki's popularity was her lowest between Dareka --> Passion.

Anywayz,

2008.12.20 - No. 1
Index : 4855
Total Index: 66484
x 1.75: 116347

I'm kinda surprised that today's index is actually lower than Friday... :shakehead.. I guess the sales pattern is evolving rite now..

keikeiaznqueen 21st December 2008 10:15 AM

!!

No weekend mirrorcle???

No way!!

*Petit* 21st December 2008 10:24 AM

Wasen't MWs index all the way in the 1000 category at one point? This is doing better and is more stabel no even if it dropped a lot? I also suspect this will stay on better in the next week, but we'll see I guess. It's a great single.
