Man I absolutely LOVE when she does this haha!! It has no sense and it's silly! I don't know who choreographed rollin' but I love him.

I really don't understand why some people LOVE it sooo much more than You were... :dead2 Maybe because you're hyped up on BALLAD, since You were... isn't new anymore, ah hah..? :innocent

It's okay hunny.

I don't really understand it either...then again, they both seem along the same line of "below average" to me lol

And man...all this talk about differing tastes, I'm just waiting for the day when someone tells someone the forbidden phrase: "well, you have bad taste." :laugh

@noidea: Yeah...I think it's interesting how Ayu seems to be getting younger and less mature with age lol Maybe she's going senile.

TeddyGrahams 9th December 2009 12:27 AM

^ I agree with you emiko. Both of these songs are below average for me and I usually LOVE every ballad released by ayu.

This is like days/GREEN II except way less catchy. I also think Ballad should be a bside.

Don't anyone else felt like the lyrics were too amazing, but ayu fail to deliver in these songs? And the arrangement/music is off? Like listening to the lyrics, the songs don't feel as Sad as they should be, or is it just me?

What are you talking? the arrangement of part of Me definitely has Japanese elements within. I dun really know what you're referring.

Anywayz, I do agree that both songs are quite below average in her discography (well probly not so for You were..., but like Sunshine said, BALLAD should be a B-side instead). I kinda wish she would do something similar to Voyage (not exactly I want a Voyage-part II- blah blah blah).

At least I do feel for You were..., it's better than s/s...

Beauty4123 9th December 2009 01:05 AM

i love BALLAD and you were... equally. they are both such good ballads, IMO. i'm very satisfied with ayu! i've also enjoyed all her singles of the year (the only song i would really dislike is "sunset" :P) so i'm very happy.

Ugh, can't I~ have a different taste, without somebody asking why I think differently than other people, lol???? :thud It's not like I was like, "OMG THIS SONG SUCKS AND SO DOES YOUR TASTE AND SO DO YOOOUUU!!!" I just don't understand the hype on this song, that's all. :( And I was half joking with my last sentence......

Anyway...
It seems more people are starting to come out and say that they like both about the same. So that's a good sign! Maybe I have a chance to force you all to change your opinion and like You were... better! :mischief (I'm not being serious. Don't hate on me again, lol.)

at first i thought ballad was very boring but after a few listen i began to like it

I have to agree. I don't want to be a whiner, but I really have to agree.

It's not that bad for You were..., but BALLAD is really lacking in something "epic"; the lyrics have that, but the song doesn't.

But at least for me, her vocals in these two songs save everything. They convey just the right emotions imo, so I don't mind the little flaws here and there.

AyUta 9th December 2009 02:44 AM

From the preview, BALLAD didn't seem that amazing. When the full version came out though, it stole my heart :laugh :heart

I feel the opposite of that. I think everything matches up perfectly. In BALLAD the lyrics are beautiful/sad, the instrumental sounds beautiful/sad, and ayu's voice is beautiful/sad. So everything matches up and just makes it beautiful (and sad) :P. With You were... the lyrics are quite dramatic and so is the instrumental, and ayu's voice sounds like she's having an emotional fit, which is dramatic as well, so it all really fits to me.

I just hear struggling vocals in You Were and no emotion in BALLAD. I guess I hyped this single too much. After reading the lyrics when they're first released, I thought the songs would be darker and more emotional than these. I still like You Were... but not to the extent of buying the single.

Oh wells, there is Red Line ~for TA~ It may be the life line.

nanakopy87 9th December 2009 03:30 AM

hmm,i think BALLAD lack abit of 'umph' feel.like waterballoon said,

There's also a re-recording of You were... with the music box arrangement that could wind up being more appealing to you.

Yes I totally forgot about that. I wondered why she made a rerecording in the first place? Maybe she knew! :P

Crystal_Ageha 9th December 2009 04:00 AM

Oh my gawd oh my gawd--I forgot about the other version!! :OOOO Now I'm even more excited about this single, hah! :laugh

I am very much looking forward to that.

I completely LOVED You were...! But the video was a huge disappointment!! What was with the teddy bear and the robots?? I loved her dress though. I listened to Ballad and i completely fell in love with it! It was so amazing! I love her voice when there is an orchestra in the background! It was simply amazing!!
