This. No matter how amazing Ayu's works are, they're never perfect and if anything, the fact that her fans are nitpicky just goes to show that she's at a level where you have to try hard to find anything that's actually wrong with her music. >_>

@identity: Unlike most of AHS, I don't find Sparkle to be some super amazing song. To be honest it just drags on foreeeever for me...

kagami 23rd March 2010 01:09 AM

Wow, this song is definitely a slice from the awesome cake.

Considering I already like the singles this is shaping up to be one heck of an album. I can hardly wait.

"She didn't make another I am...? Trash."

A case where people seem to like everything is Lady GaGa. Her songs/videos are very hard not to like (though if you're not into extremes, I suppose you might hate her) and for the most part, I've seen nothing but praise for her.

Random, but someone who seems to have music people like but no one really likes the actual artist = Ke$ha, haha.

I think people like things to almost always be just as they were. An artist is appreciated for one thing, and slowly adored for it, and then suddenly when something changes there are people who love it and accept it for what it is, or there are people who just dump it, or there are people that just compare it to everything they did in the past and make a mockery of the present.

I'm not saying everyone has to love everything, but if you see a pattern in a person always saying 'I hate it' and all that, and they do it with every single freakin' release you can understand that some of us want to ask 'why the hell are you still here?!'. It gets on peoples nerves, and sometimes you'd just wish they'd open a blog somewhere to rant about just how much they hate it, as opposed to raining on everyone's parade, with statements like 'I can't believe you like this ****, it's the worst she's done in ages!' or 'it's horrible! complete and utter fail' and all that.

I never said she was? I said that even if something was perfect / tailored to be liked by everyone / incredibly well made / other criteria, there would still be people who would find faults in it. That's what I'm saying and trying to get across. Even if she tries to please everyone with some amazing out-there track from GaGa-Land or something, there will ALWAYS be naysayers.

"no matter how perfect something is when it comes to Ayu." =/= "no matter how perfect Ayu is every time she releases something like she has in the past 11 years -heart-"

Reading comprehension, man.

I'm so proud of my Sunrise/Sunset love, haha. People were always like "~wow that single was such a downer for 2009. Her worst effort yet!~" but I liked it a lot. It's a bit offensive imo to people who like what others vehemently dislike. I don't really shove my Sunrise/Sunset love in everyone's faces, but it seemed as though it was okay to basically call it her worst single ever...

I feel that for fans who dislike her newer works and want her to "go back to the way she was", they don't understand the nature of her being/personality. She's someone who is constantly changing, and that's one of the reasons I love her so much. She's never stuck in one image/genre for too long (though this rock thing has been infusing itself into everything since MY STORY) and I've found that to be incredibly refreshing.

:yes
I get what you're saying, and it's ridiculous.
As for Gaga, she gets the same ridicule as Ayu in the "comparison to previous releases" department. And she's only had two (mainstream) albums. I've seen people on her videos posting comments like, "Why is she so ****ty?? God I miss the OLD gaga." And Gaga is a pretty new artist.
:headache
Well, I guess that goes to show you there will be naysayers with any singer... :dead2

KPL 23rd March 2010 01:14 AM

Guys don't fight again, just enjoy the new song~

truehappiness 23rd March 2010 01:15 AM

I don't think this is fighting necessarily, it's just discussion.

Fighting would involve random cursing (which some people seem to have done) and namecalling.

zellyx 23rd March 2010 01:15 AM

^ Sorry Luoyo! :yes

KPL 23rd March 2010 01:22 AM

Haha I was just kidding. For those missing lyrics from Ojisan's translation, its
"You're drawn by gravity
by attraction
It was a certain consequent that I meet up with you.

(I) have nothing to abandon
Had to do this after all
I know The one without you is not ME anymore"

Chessur 23rd March 2010 01:22 AM

I just tend to accept AYUs change in every album sure some songs are more so so than others but regardless of what she does or how she changes i still like her music. :heart

That bolded bit was said perfectly; I can't say it any better but I have to agree. Though I have to add, that yeah, this rock bit has been around for a while now and it's understandable since she did say at the start of her career she used to listen to big rock bands, Led Zeppelin for example. It's understandable that her rock roots stayed in her.

As for Sunrise/Sunset; I loved Sunrise, I rarely listen to Sunset but I definitely will when the moment is right. If I had to 'compare' I prefer Sunrise to Sunset, but that makes sense because we'll forever like one thing more than the other, but that doesn't mean we necessarily dislike something. Just because I liked Sunset a little less, you didn't see me complaining about it being on the album and all that.

About that, I'm not so sure if that was true. That also came from the same profile that mentioned Ayu had a brother that introduced her to rock (????) or something.

From the livedoor wiki profile:
Quote:

・親戚のお兄さんの影響で子供の頃はロック(レッド・ツェッペリン、ディープ・パープル)
・98年当時はBabyface、En Vogueなどブラック系
I don't know why they mentioned a brother, but.... make of it what you will, haha.

A lot of that profile seemed kind of fishy, but she probably did kind of like rock as a teen. I wonder if she'll answer a question about it in the future~

SURREAL__RAINBOW 23rd March 2010 01:39 AM

lol i like how people couldnt go any more crazier with this song :D

nanakopy87 23rd March 2010 01:43 AM

Sorry if this is OT, but why is it that she has never mentioned this brother after the fact? Is this person "like a brother" because despite this I was always under the impression that Ayu was an only child.

Larisa-chan 23rd March 2010 01:47 AM

Oh my Godddddd this rock song is amazing. I was a bit disappointed by the rock songs on Next Level, but this song is fantastic. <3

Ayu slays rock songs, I've hardly EVER been disappointed by *any* of her rock songs~ (Identity was maybe one of the only ones? lol)

There have been loads of places where she said that she liked rock music when she was younger. Maybe Led Zeppelin was something from this one particular one you're mentioning which definitely could be wrong, but I'm quite certain she's talked about rock music in the past. That's why reading that interview about the new album made me really think of an early Ayu.

I think bit by bit Ayu has been trying to incorporate rock music into her work a bit more and more. I mentioned something of it in another thread of this, but that post of mine went completely unnoticed I remember.

2004 we had Because of You, which doesn't say too much I guess, especially since we had albums like Duty before. But about MY STORY, it was one of the albums she was happiest with, that she worked hard for it to be autobiographical almost so it made sense for it to have a rock edge. I thought she really wanted to try rock around 2008; that version of A Song for XX performed in such a rock-style manner. Then GUILTY also had a dark rock edge I think in some places. PCDL had End of the World and Heartplace. Now I'm not saying she doesn't work hard at every performance or anything, but she really really stood out (to me) with those performances.

Of course the break in that is NL. My guess is that she had planned on doing an album like that for a bit, and to do it just after her 10th anniversary would be a perfect time for her to go with it. I guess a hint of rock can be found on some of the tracks, but the rock came back out in Future Classics, which if I believe is where she said had something to do with the 2010 tour (in that they're linked in style or something). Future Classics had a decent amount of rock tracks, even in choice of ballads.

truehappiness 23rd March 2010 02:19 AM

I see. I think Ayu's always been a bit of an angry/rockish soul, and that only started to come out around 2003, I'd say. At least, a harder rock that what she'd dabbled in before with I am... or whatever what was on Duty. I really find those albums to be nice, but sometimes I feel like her MY STORY/(miss)understood work outshines it at times...

Hm, since she's mentioned the Future Classics / Rock'n'Roll Circus tour connection, I really do hope that the songs chosen aren't going to be the same at all, haha. Like, I am... and a few other songs can carry over, but please, Ayu, try to keep things fresh at the very least!

Max_ZZZ 23rd March 2010 02:23 AM

sick song!!

besides the people hating on people for giving real opinions, i love how everyone's thoughts are so authentic =D EVERYONE IS SO PUMPED FOR THE ALBUM!!!
