Anything kazu did must require exaggeration. Her exaggerated acting in GREEN, her exaggerated poses/faces in Sparkle (I never expect an excellent song with such a disgusting pv). I really hope LD will be the last pv directed by kazu. Based on the comments from you guys/gals I think I will just treat the pv as a party styled video.

And it's even worse when looking at any making off when kazu's inside. His exaggeration is like 10x of what ayu did in pvs.

Really? I thought she exaggerated just as much or more in those PV's as the kazu ones, especially Microphone. I think it works for most of the PV's but it really didn't work for GREEN at all.

I don't think this is really stripping her of her beauty/elegance..

I don't even like Kazu, but I can't say every single thing he does is bad like some people.

Once again, wish I could make or have GIFs...

"SUGOI!!! *clap clap*"

... oh God that was epic in a bad way :no

I actually could stand MW pv. That was the first time kazu directing ayu pv rite? It looked amateur but at least the exaggeration wasn't that bad. Things have been getting worse after that...

I didn't watch the whole Sparkle making off, but once I saw him teaching ayu the "proper" way to smash her body and arms to the red walls, I skipped the video immediately. Holy he did it better than ayu when he smashed his body to the wall.

I definitely wish someone could make a gif for that one.

Er... let's say in this way. the "acting" in microphone is necessarily done in an artistic way. While there are so many useless actions in kazu's pv. Also, I probly shouldn't doubt about his artistic judgement, but things he put on ayu is quite... unflattering. He basically treated videos like photographs. I know sometimes models need to exaggerate theirs poses to make beautiful shots in magazines. But you can't just directly use the same method on videos rite?.

Yeah that's just my opinion, nothing against you. I only against kazu.. :P

Yeah MW was his first... but bad enough though. I remembered lol-ing at her fierce walk down the streets of Paris... everything was so bad and random. And Sparkle, oh God, I feel embarrassed showing the PV to my friends who don't know Ayu; that's how garbage it is.

Looks like we're on the same page. :mischief

Anyway, she definitely didn't look forced or weird in Microphone... her fierceness was real, convincing and nicer-looking tbh

Andrenekoi 1st April 2010 09:48 PM

I like all the videos Kazu directed, really... his directing and editing is chaotic and kinda dirty, but I really like it... The only reason I would him to stay away from Ayu is that kazu work = endless complaining for 5 months in a row

ayumisrael 1st April 2010 09:50 PM

I actually think that her exaggerated kazuyoshi facial expressions are less balant in Lady Dynamite, or it just seemed to flow better with the PV. It just didn't look bad like in his other PVs. =P

This and seeing people writing that -everything- he does with other artists is gold (while they look as awful as ayu in many things he does for them as well but for a wierd reason they look "fierce" or "sooooo good"). :laugh

I'll take your word for LD pv.

And yes, he manged not to completely transform kuu into another exaggerator.. :P She's so fortunate.

Andrenekoi 1st April 2010 09:52 PM

^I'm ok with u, u only complain when she releases something and I really like the blue color :P

I still believe that the only problem most (not all) people have with Kazu, is that what he does with Ayumi don't match the image people have of her on their minds...

This is just imo, but I think if there was a kazu video directed by him that had some other directors name on it instead of his, people would wind up loving it a lot more than if they knew it was directed by him.

lmfao it's an Ayu's fan Duty to destroy villains who stand in Ayu-sama's way of Beauty & Elegance! :P

Honestly though, I think the gross faces are toned down in Lady Dynamite; ugly, but tolerable. MW & Sparkle were downright disgusting though...

I think that as well.

I actually don't have problems with most stuff he did for ayu (MW/D/G covers were awesome, and I liked MW and Sparkle PVs)
I do dislike things like S/S covers where he does thousand unncessesary things to them.

People should accept it though sometimes ayu wants to use him to portray things that's beyonds people's image of ayu in their heads, even if it's highly unnatural, exaggerated or whatever.
Sometimes it works sometimes less but things he did for ayu are still not the worst I saw for an artist.

Andrenekoi 1st April 2010 10:01 PM

^Yeah, like waterballon (not atacking you xD just an example) saying he destroys Ayu's way of being beautiful and elegant... I don't care if she looks ugly or cheap if it was her idea... Sparkle for sure wasn't meant to be elegant at all

I think if the pv is badly made people will still complain to a degree. But since kazu's reputation hits the bottom, anything with his label on = trash somehow.
Remember many people didn't really like the director who did Born To Be../Startin', but he did make some good pvs (e.g., momentum/Days/etc). I dun think I'll (or people) automatically turn on the bias mode against kazu. I haven't seen LD yet, so I'm not gonna say it's gonna be really bad.

I can't stop myself LOL when I read the last line. You do have maximum fury on kazu hahaha.

Oh have I ever mentioned that I couldn't finish the whole Sparkle pv as well...? :P

Oh MW and D/G covers were actually awesome. I give hm an applause for those two awesome shots.

ayumisrael 1st April 2010 10:07 PM

It's understandable if things that kazuyoshi does with ayu is not some/a lot of people's taste or things they would like to see from her.

I just say, if you don't like the exaggerations, don't exaggerate yourself :laugh

(it's not for you blugie it's in general). =D

:laugh I admit I'm being a drama queen here... oh well. Maybe I'm just not used to the blatant and tasteless displays of Ayu in the Kazu-directed PVs.

I really think that everything he does with ANY artists, he involves mouths, teeth, and exagerated actions, it's disgusting.

I really wish she wouldn't use him anymore... those visuals in Lady Dynamite were too much... s&m clothing, etc... It's just too much.

Don't forget the YW/B covers, that's like his best shoot imo.
Honestly, I loved what he did with her in MW because it's so different. Like her in the phone booth all made up and looking pretty, but she has a bunch of fierce expressions, it's such a contrast to me and I like it. If she was just standing there looking pretty it wouldn't be the same, it'd just be typical and it wouldn't be as exciting to me.

roanmy 1st April 2010 10:15 PM

I just have to say I LOVE Kazu as a director! =D

As a photographer... Not so much.

Andrenekoi 1st April 2010 10:18 PM

I think his work has shock value... and Ayu seens to enjoying using him on videos where her overall idea is shocking

As a hikki fan for over 10 yrs.. (tbh) I never find hikki beautiful (like.. when she stands next to ayu). Don't throw rocks at me cuz I love hikki as much as I love ayu.. :P. But when I started becoming their fans in 1999, hikki struck me as a talent singer, while ayu was the beauty and fashion queen, with talent in writing lyrics :).

Oh talking about hikki.. she did have her "kazu", but kiriya san did a much much better job on making pvs. FINAL DISTANCE, traveling, Sakura Drops, DEEP RIVER, BML, Passion, Keep Tryin' are all above standards. I dun wanna say this but watching hikki washing dishes in Hikari pv is better than watching ayu making weird poses in Sparkle.. :P

Ayu's idea has always been shocking since 1999 (e.g, WHATEVER pv, TO BE pv, countless photo shoots, etc, just name a few). She did tone down herself a bit around 2006 - 2008 (as compared to the golden era). I dun mind seeing shock value from her as long as it's beyond standard (e.g., those ayu-mi-x II III 4+ covers, ourselves pv, alterna, etc.)

HarukaKamiya 1st April 2010 10:24 PM

I am the only one who actually really likes Kazu's PVs? They are fun, they are different. Not everything Ayu does HAS to have this uber deep subtext. Sometimes all she wants to tell you is to have fun.

*shrug* Exaggerated or not, the PVs he directed are actually some of my favorite PVs of hers.
