From what I can tell not many people seem to care?? I searched for articles about it on over five jpn news sites and there's basically no comments/reaction from anyone. The most "popular" article about it I found was from Nikkansports and it had 145 tweets...for comparison the number 1 ranked story on Nikkan rn has over 600 tweets. All the other articles generally only had like 10 reactions lol

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20...000062-dal-ent

This was the first article posted and it has over 1600 comments. (though most of the comments are negative)

Also if you search "あゆ バックダンサー" on Twitter, there's quite a few reactions since the news broke.

tokyoxjapanxfan 15th November 2012 06:22 AM

Well I mean, he's her dancer... they've worked together for years... it's not really "surprising" that this sort of thing would happen.

Plus, they're only dating. Marriage is much more of a headline than "Ayu and dancer, who've known each other for many years and have a long history with each other, are now officially dating." lol

The comments on Yahoo are mostly just attacking Ayu for the sake of attacking her, like most articles on the internet. Negativity is always going to be there, and there -are- a lot of people who dislike Ayu or at least like to bash her. Things like "Dating even though can only love herself lol" "She'll probably break up with him again pretty quickly"

PS I can't get over the picture Yahoo chose to feature for Ayu. I mean really. :P

truehappiness 15th November 2012 06:31 AM

I remember they always used to use this one shot from her D-Snap promo that was extremely unflattering, hahaha. I wonder if they go through her shots that are usable in the public domain and try to find the ones where she looks the most off.

That being after she said she's keeping private life seperate from business life and going to keep it private. No one was going to publish anything about this without them seeking the publicity. Which is why I think her private life is private and this is her business life and the stupid publicity stunts that come with working for Avex.

Sorry I don't mean to sound offending, but I don't think you should get so worked up about it even if it's a publicity stunt. I don't see how it's interfering with your personal life, so I don't see why their is a reason to get upset if it's a publicity stunt. I understand it's something you do as a fan of somebody, but if you get so mad over what's she is doing stop being one of her fans IMO I would never be a fan of someone who was doing things that I constantly disliked. So if you dislike so much what she is doing why are you a fan? I am not saying you should accept everything they do as a celebrity, but I also think you don't need to get so worked up about it, because in the end you don't know her, neither does she know you so I don't think it should interfere with your life, because you caring so much is sure not interfering with her life...

oh wow, must have got the newer articles about it when I searched on yahoo :thud

hmmm it's still upsetting to me that ayu is usually always put in such a negative light, even though i should be used to it by now.

saigodansu 15th November 2012 06:58 AM

Much of the reason she gets put in such a negative light in japanese press is they see far more of this stuff from her and her staff than we do. Remember all the leaked stories from staff the articles referred to in the past. The former japanese model sleeping with her at a spa although their release soon after was breaking it to the fans about her and Mannie. The affair with a korean jewelry designer. The list goes on and on and I'd bet those stories really had an inside source just as the news papers said they did. And this story is getting the hype they were after and there is no effort to keep the supposed private life private.

emi♡ 15th November 2012 07:06 AM

Maybe she's just a liar :shrug

That IS a possibility, you know.

And a coward, since Avex keeps "forcing" her to do all of these things and she doesn't leave.

Not so pretty when an idol is actually a human being.

But why does it even matter. Would you guys really love her any less. :laugh

Actually, I think a lot of you would.

ll moments ll 15th November 2012 07:30 AM

Ayu, are you crazy???? *looks at Maro's boots and looks at Ayu's* fur coat and summer shoes? Dear.....god....she wants to get sick?

bulmasman 15th November 2012 07:55 AM

I personally don't get all the cries of "publicity stunt" etc... Sure it may seem to have come out at a convenient time, but what's to say it isn't genuine?

Also, reading a few of the comments here, since when was Ayu ever an "idol" in the strict sense of the word?

Misa-chan 15th November 2012 08:15 AM

I think alot of negativity comes from this:

- She married Mannie, but never registered it in Japan. This means that, in the eyes of Japanese law, she has never been married, giving the impression that marriage isn't an important concept to her.
- Both relationships started off with PV filming, adding to the "just a publicity stunt" conspiracy.
- Maro is still married and undergoing divorce. The wife knows about ayu and is using it in her defense.

Quote:

With Austrian model ex-husband (31), whom she had divorced on New Year’s Day without ever officially registering the marriage, ayu started off casting him as her husband in a PV, which then led to real marriage. Will this repeat again?… However, A-san is still a married man. In 2005, he had married dancer B-san (43), and the two are currently involved in a drawn-out divorce process, and the name “Hamasaki Ayumi” is being thrown about in the judicial proceedings.

For example, the wife has accused A-san of “hiding the fact that he is married, because ayu got jealous”, and ayu’s name has come up repeatedly during several occasions.
*A-san is Maro.

This is an excerpt from "Josei Seven", the weekly magazine that ayu and Maro were referring to in their blog posts.. So much bad rep going on... :no

truehappiness 15th November 2012 08:20 AM

It's hard to say that the situation is the same as when Mannie was cast for Virgin Road since he was chosen specifically for that part as opposed to being a part of Ayu's dance team which Maro has been for the last 5 or so years and has been in quite a few PVs since then?

How long has Maro been in the process of getting divorced? Most people weren't even sure if he was married for a while and only now we're finding out all these details about his life.

freedreamer 15th November 2012 09:02 AM

Maro is still married?! omg? what? I dunno what to think of this if this was true.

and PR stunt or not, this was bound to get more negative comments than positive so what kind of stunt is this? =.= i just feel they decided to say it so that they can have a easier time in Paris and also just for their fans to know. Honestly, there isn't a need for the public to judge in the first place. and I doubt they care anyway.

When you are young and at the top of the industry, secrecy about your private life is paramount. But when you are in your 30s and your popularity is dwindling I think the PR game becomes something else entirely.

And I think the saying, "there is no such thing as bad PR", applies to Japan as well unless it's something illegal of course. At this point in ayu's career, PR is just simply to keep your name out there and on people's minds. Honestly it doesn't really matter if it is good or bad news.

And not to be too cynical but, usually this type of news is fed directly from the record label to the tabloids themselves. Especially since honestly ayu's love life is not what would be selling tabloids today - I doubt they were really out looking for this story.

But still, I wish ayu and maro all the best and I hope that they are happy together.

I don't really buy the whole "Oops! Tabloids discovered it D:" part... But as you said, I believe it's more her using her personal life to promote herself (it's not like their relationship would be secret forever anyway, releasing it during a convenient time is just normal) than her faking life facts to produce buzz about her (the theory I have problem with).... In the end of the day, her personal life is the main fuel of her career since day 1.

It's like Beyonce announcing her pregnancy during a VMA performance... She used her personal life to promote her, but she didn't had a child just to get some spotlight, that would be very stupid.
