Yes, you can apply for more than one date and yes, you have to buy every ticket you will win.
It's a lottery, so there's no guarantee you will win any tickets at all. It's up to you for how many dates you gonna apply, but yes, the more dates you apply for the higher the chances you will win some.

It's just a theory, but from what I observed the last years, you always win tickets when applying for the first time in the lottery. On the other hand it's a hall tour, so there are less tickets for every date to begin with. But I guess you should be fine with the date you want to go.
