Yes, it is, but rock has a myriad of subgenres. I don't remember she using punk rock subgenre in her songs that much before (she flirted with hardcore, metal and symphonic metal).

summerain is specifically talking about punk rock, though.

Yassssssss

Punk rock is kind of there in a few songs of hers (humming7/4 is one that comes to mind first). The snippet we've got from the new song, i can't tell, it's ridiculously short... punk is usually quite plain and raw in terms of arrangements and vocals, so i personally need the whole song before i can say anything *shrug*
And yeah i know you specified, but i was just saying that it'd be no surprise she be playing into another rock genre because she seems to have a thing for it. =)

Hmmm I feel like the album GUILTY has the most rock elements. Almost every track (minus some of the interludes) has like one style of rock or another. I know people might be like WUT BUT GLITTER???!!?!11?1 (Which is definitely a pop-rock song lol) But just looking over the track list, the first five tracks are solid rock IMO, even Fated is a rock-ballad.

I'll be interested to hear what this new rock track is like, though. Some of her more recent rock songs haven't been as strong as in the past, in my opinion. I don't know what to think of the 10 second preview song lol

ayumi_croatia 28th July 2018 08:33 PM

I'm not really an expert on rock, but IMO, she has some brilliant songs in this genre (GAME, talkin' 2 myself) and some bad ones (WARNING, Lady Dynamite)

At the end of the day, good music is good music.

yeah, Guilty have the same "guitarish" vibe through the album same as My Story. Plus she have the most 'raw' voice in Guilty which makes this album even more edgy.

i think i'm gonna skip this release completely, not even gonna listen to it :( she has not given me a good song since Colours and sixxxxxx (okay maybe FLOWER) but everthing seems to sound exactly the same to me :no i guess my 10 ten years in ayu fandom is about to end soon sadly

Amalgam 28th July 2018 09:37 PM

^ Girl, bye.

Anyway, I'm hyped for the album -even if its only 3 new songs.

KittyKathy 28th July 2018 09:51 PM

Me too. I can't wait to hear them, especially this rock song.

How did i forget that album i've got no clue lol especially the title track.

I'm kinda keeping my excitment down for this one tbh. Like the amount of material we are getting is sad but i sort of don't want to judge anything before it's even out. I'm REALLY bummed there are no pvs though, that upset me more than the fact that we're getting only 3 new songs lol

EndOfTheWorld 29th July 2018 04:40 AM

I'm still anticipating the release. I won't be pre-ordering it as planned but I will give it a listen online. I have high hopes for the lalalalalai rock song.:luv2

tokyoxjapanxfan 29th July 2018 07:52 AM

What’re the chances she just pops a new music video onto YouTube lol

I would love it if she just did that with music videos from now on instead of having DVD versions. The she could just release a compilation of them later on. But I'm trying not to get my hopes up for any surprise PVs lol

hayasaki 29th July 2018 08:48 AM

I always wanted a full rock album from her. Guess this will never happen.

I remember that she called herself a ballad girl (I think it was before the release of Party Queen). So I think you guessed well.
