This is the second album of the two-part-work for the 10th anniverssary project

Along with the first work"I" , released in 2014, the word"IO"appears which represents inside/outside and the number 10.

This second work took 1and a half years in the making and is themed as OUTSIDE.

In 2015, Rie fu toured around Southeast Asia and visited more than 10 countries across her recent residence Singapore.

What she discovered through the journeys was unexpectedly an appreciation to her native language.

Many people outside Japan listened and studied Japanese through music, and their passion was beautiful.

She delivers the stories of her journey through acoustic based, neo-retro sound production.

Breaking the stereotype pop song structure, the melody keeps on progressing throughout the song in "Fourier".

The dreamy chords and Kate Bush-inspired harmonies take you on the mysterious trip in "Dreamer".

"Song for Me" is the Rie fu version of "Amazing Grace", presenting a new classic to her song collections.

With a new found viewpoint and identity, this album becomes the bridge to cross the borders of land and language, with the warm powerful songs.
I was amazing. I can't wait to hear this new album.

I really love how she combines art in her music (paintings, landscapes, western influences etc.)
I agree, "I" is a good album. I especially like the "nobody was born a butterfly" line in Butterfly. Songs like STATIC and Innocent Forest are amazing too.

I like all songs of I. They're so different and original. :yes

Rie fu's new album will have an 'outside' theme

Rie fu will release her new album "O" on April 6.

The new album will act as the counterpart of her album "I", which was released in November of 2014. Her previous album had the theme "inside", but this time it will be "outside". In 2014, Rie fu moved to Singapore and traveled to over 10 countries. Then in 2015, she held an Asia tour stopping in countries such as China and Indonesia. "O" was created with the singer's feelings toward Japan as she traveled throughout Asia. Out of the 10 songs included in the album, 8 of them will have Japanese lyrics.

Rie fu will also hold a one-man tour to commemorate the release of the album. The concerts will be held on April 1 at knave in Osaka, April 2 at HeartLand in Aichi, and April 3 at Daikanyama LOOP in Tokyo.

New single and new album : http://io.riefu.com/blog/2017/05/06/...gle-st-martin/

Woah!:teek
That is a huge change for Rie Fu. The acoustic guitars and pianos are gone! This might take getting used to. Even for a big fan like myself. It's kind of crazy to think I have been a fan of Rie Fu for around 10 years now.
But overall I like the new song.;)

Miduhyo 13th June 2017 12:18 AM

Dear God I didn't even know Rie Fu was still around. Seriously, though I love the new song.

Kacku 17th June 2017 06:04 PM

After sitting on it for a whole year, I finally listened to O, and I love it! I think I'm gonna have to try other stuff from Rie fu as well, anyone wanna recommend me anything? :)

Yoake 18th June 2017 11:41 AM

^If you like O you should try I. It's the only album that is similar to O . And I is so far better than her last album for me. Her other albums have a more classic sound. To get a whole view you can listen to I can do better.

St.Martin is such a good song~

Yoake 10th April 2018 07:10 PM

I have just come across this

That's a good experimental song. Kinda like it. And this is good too :

And just for nostalgia this beauty ♥

You can see other video of the concert on YT. I really need to check her account more often.

There is an upcoming album Places in spring. If you didn't listen to them yet, she already released two songs: Ripples and Mirror.

MV for Ripples

Quote:

“The simple way to explain the title ‘Places‘ is that it’s about where I came from and where I am now”, she says. “This idea was inspired by a documentary I saw recently about Yo Yo Ma’s Silkroad Ensemble, in which musicians with various geographical, religious and political background gathered to perform music. That made me realise more than ever that music is all about the journey between where you’re from and the exact moment when the music is being performed. I think where you live, and this beautiful countryside and nature in the UK, is so inspiring. I get off the train and smell the fresh air.”

I can't believe the evolution between her first album and what we are getting nowadays. I would have never thought that she would be so creative and experimental.
