From new era, I really like Eric Chou, Joker Xue , Li Rong Hao (even if his new album didn't deliver) and Wu Qing Feng
From old era, that would be Stanley Huang, Wang Lee Hom and Jay Chou, of course
And if we go even further into past to the veteran era, I like Andy Lau very much

I spoke even in general, I love his emotion. I agree with Eric Chou and Wang Lee Hom. Jay Chou is basic to me, but I still stan for rnb/rap eras.

I read this whole essay written by a Jay Chou fan and how disappointed they are with his music now. He really made groundbreaking music back in the day for Cpop

But he sounds stuck now. The same mumble rap in 2020

I agree ... even if I stan Jay Chou, I stop adoring him back in 2010 which is already 10 years ago :-/
He was really amazing since his second album (Fantasy/2001) till Capricorn (2008) / The Era (2010) maybe. It was incredibly span of 9 and/or 10 albums that were mixing together rap, rock, pop, traditional Chinese music etc. No other male singer got even close to him in terms of popularity and quality of music.
But since Exclamation Mark is just meh ... mediocre album after mediocre album.
There are some songs on each album I like, but in general Opus 12 (2012), and Exclamation Mark (2011) are just boring af albums.
Aiyo, Not Bad (2014) was a bit better but no even close to any of his previous work.
And his latest album Bedtime Stories (2016) is the weakest album of his career.
No wonder he didn't release a new album for 4+ years already, it seems like he is musically burnt out. No wonder after all these years of creativity ... but man, even so, how can someone as Jay Chou release a song like Mojito this year? I know it has been quite a hit in Taiwan, but even I feel ashamed when watching that music video. He is 41 but acting like 15.

whats 15 about going all around havana cuba and bringing different elements to mainstream c pop? it sounds like chinese despacito, it may not be the most original but its very fun, and video is actually beautiful.

I was talking about his look and acting like 15 ... there is nothing wrong bringing different elements to mainstream cpop for sure :)

I watched :D
he is narcis, little bit full of himself :P

pommy48 23rd September 2020 05:32 AM

I only watched the preview and thought "why do I want to see a bunch of 40yo men travel around Europe?"

I like seeing Hannah's social media posts more. She's so pretty and looks like such a good mom!

I guess you can also say he is bit narcis based on that Mojito video ... but I didn't quite expect that, he seemed pretty humble all those previous years .. at least, to me :)

gosh, I wished it wouldn't be true, but found a few articles where he is bashing Netflix because his show is not popular ... sorry, but that's just idiotic.
Idk .. maybe he should focus on making more quality content rather than blaming everything and everyone else because his show is not popular.
I cannot even imagine J-Style Trip being popular, there are definitely not that many people that want to watch bunch of 40-years-old men traveling around Europe.

ok, hes so delusional :o
I watched J style when hed feature one of my other faves, it got boring after awhile, the idea is nice, like seeing the world with Jay Chou but reality was most of the episodes he would be making 'jokes' with his friends/colleges and most of the time werent funny at all. like, their humour is belittleing some member of that group. super childish. At least it was promo tool for his music, he didnt miss opportunity to say how hes an amazing singer every scene :D

pommy48 23rd September 2020 11:35 PM

Wow bless you guys for even trying to watch it

I never thought he was an amazing singer, but an amazing songwriter.

I would rather watch a The Great British Baking Show spin-off with Jolin making cakes :roflmao

Alien Huang died :(

pommy48 29th September 2020 03:37 PM

Hebe’s album puts me to sleep in a good way. I’ll have to give it some more listens for a song to jump out at me.

It looked like Alien was a stand-up guy. So many nice posts about him from friends in the past week. He arranged for moon cakes to be sent to friends, so celebrity friends posted about receiving the last present from him and I just wanted to cry

PoetGirl 29th September 2020 05:08 PM

Hebes album is flawless imo, i listen to it from start to finish. Vibe is beautiful! I need lyrics/translation if anyone has?

Rainie new single/mv is gonna be released tomorrow Singing in the Rain?

maddy1111 30th September 2020 05:40 PM

Hebes album really surprised me! There are elements of pure pop, jazz, psychedelic rock, ballad and much more. You can clearly hear she put a lot of effort into that album, and it is not just another pop release.

It is not completely flawless for me, since I don't dig that much track 9 人什麼的最麻煩了 Humans are the Worst and 10 懸日 Let it… but otherwise she made it again :) she released album that doesnt sound like her previous works but she still managed to kept that "Hebe essence" there. If you know what I mean ...

Alien Huang died? oh, I noticed ROCK Records released a new song Carry On (Alien Huang, Alan Kuo, Bobby Dou) two days ago, but never paid much attention to that song, but now it makes sense ... it is posthumous to remember him.
I was never a true fan of his albums, but I LOVE his song Napoleon.
R.I.P Alien Huang! :(
