Gays love to build a diva hero up and maintain their status for years to come.

Cher. Diana. Donna. Madonna. Britney.

What about people like Kylie Minogue? She's one of the biggest gay icons in the world and that obviously hasn't done much for her American career. She has like..three? hits over there. There's a lot more gay icons I can name who haven't received the same success, Madonna and Cher are one of the lucky few.

For her latest album X her management ****ed up big time with not only having poor single choices but limited promo.
When it all comes down to it promo and single choices are the most important part in guaranteeing success.

I'm gay and i hate the way our community "love" an artist to better destroy them when they're bored.

I've never seen a such hypocrite and selfish community, (not all of us hopefully) , and i really hope BoA will not have only gay fans, this will not be a complete success, and as far as i know, she is not known to have a gay fanbase in Japan as Hikki or Ayu could have had.

Anyway, I can't wait to BUY my single, bought on itunes but it's not the same, and it will be a real hapiness to find it at my local store, if this gonna really happen.

So how much time will the delay be?

Excellent point, I should have put more thought into her situation. I believe that she wasn't as big as she is worldwide because of her musical style in the times that were going on. I believe she's a consistant artist with great talent, maybe just not right for the times?

I was extremely disappointed with the X promo because I thought it was a pretty good album.

I still think she has a larger underground gay fanbase in the states. It may not be strong enough to translate over to mainstream but she's definitely a gay diva hero.

Regarding homosexual fans being awful to artists. I think that we are very vocal on our approvals and disappointments and that is what you may be speaking of. I would say that Britney comes to mind as a perfect example of that. I think there is something that we say negative and then watch them fall only to climb back up to the top. It lets the artist prove that they're the diva they always were, so to speak. I doubt that all of us are like that though. Throughout all of Britney's bad times I stood by and only felt bad; never ditched my fandom and love for her though.

I think a gay following isn't as negative as it may seem. Gays have their hags who, usually, fall for anything the gays love which can in turn bring the music to other peoples attention who may like it from that girl. It's a trickle process that could be successful.

Either way, BoA needs better reps. I have a feeling that SM really thinks she will just blow up but it takes time for artists these days to really establish themselves. They should have teamed up with a better company as a joint venture to bring BoA's name and music out.

This is huge news you guys. I cannot stress enough how huge this is. You may never get a chance like this again. You can be seen by BoA!

Next week, one of BoAjjang's administrators, (^ω^) and his friend ryu will be meeting BoA in Japan. At this meeting, we will be giving BoA a special gift package from BoAjjang. Included in this gift package is a digital photo frame consisting of videos from her fans. This is where you come in. We need you to create a video of yourself congratulating her on her American debut. You will have 15 to 30 seconds to say whatever you want to BoA. But remember, this is the real BoA we are talking about. Keep it respectful.

Since this is happening soon, we will need these videos quick! Do not put this off. We need these videos now. The official deadline is Tuesday, November 18 at 11:59 PM EST. But the earlier you send it in, the more we can guarantee that you will be included. So be quick!

Rules:
The video must be between 15 and 30 seconds in length.
Congratulate BoA on her American debut, after that, you can add anything you want.
Try to make as high quality a video as you can. Digital cameras and camcorders usually provide better quality than webcams. However, a video is better than no video, so please do make a video even if you don't have a high quality camera.
Email your submission to admin@boajjang.com. Upload your video to a service similar to YouSendIt, SendSpace, or MediaFire, and email us a link to the video. Remember to include the following in your email: Name and Location (City and Country).
Keep it respectful. Remember that you're going to be talking to BoA. We reserve the right to not include any videos that we believe are inappropriate.

To make this an even sweeter deal, we will be choosing a random video and sending the lucky winner a free copy of BoA's latest album Eat You Up! What are you waiting for, go make your video now!
I'm not that major of fan but still it's good if you want it.

elepop 15th November 2008 06:45 PM

The release was delayed again? Honestly, I don't know why they are doing this. Delayed or not, promotions or not, I don't think it would help BoA and "Eat You Up". I'm not optimistic but it's true no? XD

RyRyMini 15th November 2008 10:29 PM

BoA is going to be promoting on Youtube Live in Tokyo on the 23rd...if that counts.

emi♡ 15th November 2008 10:40 PM

hmmm I totally forgot that we don't really buy singles.

Interesting.

Will wait for the album...or for her to come to San Fran and promote! @_@

she needs to come already.

FuNsTyLe 16th November 2008 12:37 AM

Well delayed or not, the single has actually gotten popualr around here!

I listened to it earlier today, and my sister walks in and asks me what that song is called, because they had played it yesterday at some club she went to... So I told her, and she downloaded it... :)

She's trying to debut in the States yet she's going back to Japan to promote and do her first performance there. I'm not saying she can't promote in Japan but do more in the States first.

Seriously. Someone said a BoA thread back or so that SM couldn't have the US in mind too much if they're doing all this overseas promotion (overseas from the US that is). It just seems that they aren't fully into it and more like, "Well if she blows up in the US then great. But if she doesn't, then at least we promoted her so she can sell in Korea and Japan where we know they already love her".

Sundae 16th November 2008 06:38 AM

People in America can see the performance as well. Youtube Live is Youtube's version of Live Earth 2007. People around the world will watch both but right now with the performances involved I seriously doubt that it will happen that way. But she was supposed to start performing in clubs because she can't sing Eat U Up on American TV so don't think that's gonna happen.

RyRyMini 16th November 2008 03:24 PM

I doubt anyone American going to watch it except for people who already know about her.

Why can't she perform on TV?

Sundae 16th November 2008 04:13 PM

BoA debuted on number 42 at the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play Chart.

It's good new even if it's not the chart I would prefer.

Exactly. Even though Youtube is popular that form of promotion can only do so much. Imagine all the negative comments that will be posted under that video when she performs.
Half of the Japanese audience won't even understand what she's singing unless she performs a Japanese version to the song.

IYFreak 16th November 2008 09:54 PM

I really wish SM would really wish SM would be a little smarter when it came to promotion in america. I was really excited before, since I thought they would have learned from the mistakes of other foreign attacks coming into america, but.....it doesn't look like it. I'm really worried now.

U-GO-BOY 17th November 2008 04:12 PM

when will the single come out in Europe? >.<"

Ayumi27 18th November 2008 12:42 AM

Wow, no matter the delays, i'm loving Eat You Up already! Last week I was talking to a friend who heard the song and liked it, the first time ever I found someone in my country who knew about an asian singer haha
