Btw: Didn't there used to be a thread where all the new music release dates were listed each month? (singles and album). I wonder where that thread went, can't seem to find it.

It was pretty useful for keeping track and up to date with release dates.

I think Eien will be in top 5 ^_^
And yes there was the thread listing the releases from fan-net, I think Karen started it, but dunno what happen to it :(

Top 5 is possible and likely.

I dislike how avex are insisting and pushing Eien as a Triple A-side single, when in reality, it really isn't, IMO. :/ Well, the 3 songs aren't really all A-side material is what I'm saying. Eien is the only strong track on the single.

I would be disappointed if Kumi's upcoming Triple A-side was similar to BoA's, where the main A-side song is a strong track, and the other tracks are not as good in quality. :/

it's a public holiday in Japan today ie. Foundation Day (don't ask) so today's sales might not be reflected on Oricon in a few hours's time but I could be wrong though

rookies 11th February 2009 08:28 AM

KAT-TUN's 1st day predictions: 50,000. :)

nah that's too low , at most probably 100K+ or so

I have been following Johnny's since last April/May & I roughly can estimate how much it can sell for the 1st week

I wouldn't be surprised if they lodge 300K+ for the 1st week since there're 3 editions of ONE DROP

Singles still sell that much, nowadays? o_O.... 300k is quite a lot nowdays for weekly sales of a single.

^ 300k, for a JE act is like chicken feat. :laugh

:laugh ditto on that Travis

you see ARASHI's amazing single sales last year from Step and Go onwards & then KAT-TUN

The other Johnny's bands are able to sell decently like clearing about 100-200K in the 1st week single wise but nothing beats ARASHI & KT at the mo

Go KAT-TUN ! - http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/js/d/

1st day estimated sales - 79,577

after x1.75 = 139,259.75

YAY :D & whoever said that it's 50K on the 1st day , it's so wrong :innocent

Album wise - http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/ja/d/

the album sales index for the top 3 are very close O_O

rookies 11th February 2009 10:42 AM

I wonder how big the gap is between KAT-TUN, and the single that got into second place.

njanjayrp 11th February 2009 01:25 PM

@Karen - gomen xD I guess the only post I remember from that thread was yours :)
@rookies - so do I ^^ but they did the same thing with VIVID (though Imo, VIVID's songs were stronger than Eien's), and they also did the same with Shimatani's Ameno hi ni wa ame no naka wo, kaze no hi ni wa kaze no naka wo/WAKE YOU UP/Marvelous and they thought that they could get away with 2 cheap clips as PVs. AVEX really does stupid things sometimes. I am also pissed that they're putting UNIVERSE and Believe in love on BEST&USA, while her songs such as DOTCH and Bad Drive were never on any of the albums (and those were way better~ not to mention they didn't put kissing you and Joyful smile~

SINGLES
x->1 - KAT-TUN - 79,577 (x1.75) = 139,260
x->2 - Stereopony - 5,010 (x1.75) = 8,768
x->3 - The Gospellers - 3,756 (x1.75) = 6,573

ALBUMS
x->1 - Lil'B - 5,815 (x1.7) = 9,886
x->2 - AAA - 5,658 (x1.7) = 9,619
x->3 - Aoyama Thelma - 5,608 (x1.7) = 9,534

njanjayrp 11th February 2009 01:34 PM

go AAA! Take that #1!! xD

rookies 11th February 2009 01:37 PM

Despite Stereopony's big tie-in with Gundam in this single, it didn't even manage 10k on the first day. OUCH!!!

I pretty much figured that no matter how big the tie-in is for the competitor, KAT-TUN / NEWS / Kinki Kids would still get #1.

haha

I'm surprised that AAA's ranked slightly higher than Aoyama , go figure

rookies 11th February 2009 01:59 PM

The Gundam tie in didn't seem to help Stereopony that much. :(
