^ Yeah, I really like the first part of the chorus, too. That part's catchy. But the verses aren't catchy at all, and the end of the chorus kinda falls off.
But whatever. It's not really a bad thing. Like I said, everything else is amazing, and the song is still great. Songs don't have to be able to instantly ingrain themselves into your brain to be beautiful pieces of work. This is proof. :)

True. I actually find myself really appreciating the songs that I don't initially find catchy more than a lot of others.

I think it's more important sometimes for a song to be interesting, rather just easy to listen to.

Sironigous 23rd March 2010 04:50 AM

Microphone... the instruments are so.. perfect. It's soft.. then BOOM.. organs go!..

Wow. O_O If the album is like this... I seriously have to get it...

Haha, interesting... cos to me the later part of the chorus, in particular the "anata dakara" part gives me goosebumps, while the front part of the chorus just kinda sounds like the same notes imo, lol

But I love the dynamic contrast from the verses to the chorus SO MUCH. Like this song has so much musicality in it that I'm praying the whole album is like this!

jiarongisme 23rd March 2010 05:19 AM

The song is too damn awesome. I think I just died again! Best Ayu rock song evar!

AyUta 23rd March 2010 05:26 AM

It's AMAZING. I really like it! In the entire song there were two elephant sounds :laugh I wonder if they're really elephants?

yoshino 23rd March 2010 05:37 AM

but it's only for a few seconds and then it's awesome lol

She brought back the keys <3 <3 <3

I wonder how this song will go down with the Japanese audiences.

Wow I actually found someone whom I could agree with :)

This song would've been total awesome if the verses weren't that light (and monotone like waterballoon mentioned). But I'm certain that the PV would make me love the song in the end :love

2ch are the people who give us the concert setlists as soon as they are performed usually, be grateful!

Way to generalize the Japanese people on 2ch. That'd be like saying that everyone on 4chan = 12 year old boys who don't know wtf they're doing on the internet, but then again that's probably more like /b/ rather than 4chan as a whole.

There are hikikomori on 2ch a la Densha Otoko, but why does that matter? Does their opinion not matter because they're like that? There's also a gaysaloon thread for Ayu that regularly has news, does the users' being "gay Japanese hikikomori" make their opinion not count? 2ch is a pretty weird place, but under all the trolling and gross ASCII images, there's some good people there.

Crystal_Ageha 23rd March 2010 05:57 AM

^ Actually...... That is all 4ch, lol. (Yeah, I've been there..... It was scary. :no) Well, maybe not all 12...but all the rest, yes. And 2ch is different than the English counterpart. There's actually a lot of decent people on there, lol. So yeah, we shouldn't throw away the opinions, just because they're from 2ch. XP

Yes, I know! The contrast is another thing I love about it. So intense. ^_^

tokyoxjapanxfan 23rd March 2010 06:07 AM

i think the song is great, haha.

usually i'm not the biggest fan of her rockier songs (for instance, i don't like 1 love at all...) but Microphone works for me, :)

TITANIC 23rd March 2010 06:14 AM

OMG.. Microphone is really awesome.. love this rock song.. this is her best rock ever...
I think I am back to love her again....

Max_ZZZ 23rd March 2010 06:16 AM

Crystal_Ageha, I AGREE!!! the verses could be better, even the rock hooks aren't the greatest, but the chorus really makes the song?? especially the end of the song, double choruses ftw

AyUta 23rd March 2010 06:29 AM

What is 2ch? Like, I know what it is, but what does the "2", "c", and "h" mean exactly?

Sorry buddy but that pretty much is the status of 2ch-ers. I'm assuming you do know the status of that place and how most Japanese people view it as and who is typically assumed to be on it.

I was just pointing out that the fact that 2ch likes it doesn't mean JAPAN likes it ( :shrugs ). Doesn't mean their opinion doesn't count, it just means it's quite the niche that won't determine something like song popularity.

And I'm sure you also know that 3/4 of 2ch is about rape pornography, lolicon, and overall creepy-ass crap.

y_nathz 23rd March 2010 07:08 AM

THE SONG IS SO FREAKING GREAT OMG I WANNA SEE THE PV SOON !!!! :heart

maybe truehappiness felt offended by your comment XD since he spends most of his time updating us on ayus activities, he might be a hikkikomori!!

ps: not that theres anything wrong beign one! i have friends who are like that.

maikaru 23rd March 2010 08:31 AM

I made translation from truehappiness posted ones!! thank you to him!

Microphone

Change is a wonderful thing,
But it doesn't mean I'll lose myself.
For sure, there's the things until now that are at my roots,
And there's the me who can get through anything from now on.

Of course, there were the days
Where I felt my limits
And turned my back on everything and crouched.

But I won't lose my way anymore, I don't have any regrets.
Meeting you was my destiny.
Because the one who gives me my meaning of being me,
The one who teaches me my reason for living,
Is you.

But, you know, there's the days when
When I don't even want to see your face, it's that hateful,
So sometimes I think,
"Don't ever come into my sight again."

Even so, it doesn't mean I can be apart from you,
In the end, you're the one I want to be by my side all the time.

I'm pushed by gravity*, and I'm pulled by gravity**,
Meeting you was a necessity.
I can't disobey you, and all I can do is have deep respect for you,
You know this: The me without you
Is not me at all.

If there was a melody that was perfect,
I don't yet want to meet with it.

But I won't lose my way anymore, I don't have any regrets.
Meeting you was my destiny.
Because you give me my meaning of being me,
You teach me my reason for living,

I'm pushed by gravity*, and I'm pulled by gravity**,
Meeting you was a necessity.
I can't disobey you, and all I can do is have deep respect for you,
You know this: The me without you
Is not me at all.

The first gravity means Earth's gravity from the center, and second gravity 引力 means the gravity of an object, which is pulling you in, like a person, etc.

Personally, after reading the interviews she has been doing, what she is talking about, and considering the title, I really think the song is about her microphone, because she keeps saying without music she dies, and she has no meaning for life, and sometimes she is really fighting with microphone... so that is my interpretation!
