It seems I do agree about her longevity in the J-pop market, the lack of interest today, and the "diminishing results" after peak... Times have surely changed...
But two guys are actually older than Ayu! Why is that, really?

When did you last checked her album sales? Duty Era? Did you care to check that one of those albums were a compilation? tsc tsc...

PS: Stop going to other artists thread to talk about ayu and compare her sales with theirs.

Maybe Ayu and Tomochin should have had a war...Might have boosted both of their sales hahaha

This's something I cannot get around my head which makes 0 sense to me & didn't you initially said ayumi can't sell well as before because she's 'old' ?

What an irony of things & once again it proves on why you're not taken seriously 1/2 if not most of the time on here :rolleyes

And sorry doesn't mean you're a Johnny it means you will most certainly get #1 . Tell that to TOKIO , Tackey & Tsubasa and V6 :o

On that note , for Colours to go up against well established artistes & for ayumi to be around for almost 20 years , it's something worth commending about . Whatever happen to giving credit to her ?

Lol it worked well with Ayu and Utada XD (I miss Utada :( tbh)

If Colours was released this week it would be #2 or even #1, look at top 3 debut albums:

#1 27,939 JUNHO
#2 22,528 Kyary PP
#3 10,273 w-inds

2nd Week

2nd Day

Position: #21

well, she has 11 new releases above her ^^ Let's hope it'll climb during the week and get a top 10 at least.

Matt_rq 9th July 2014 05:36 PM

"#2 22,528 Kyary PP" I thought Kyary sold so much more than that, She is like in every corner of Japan. (CM,TV,Billboards)

brener 9th July 2014 06:09 PM

And I honestly don't think Kyary will debut with a number higher than Colours ... She needs to stay steady and maybe even boost numbers a bit during the weekend. I truly thought this album would debut with like +100k copies '-' And no surprise JUNHO's mini-album is #1, his first mini-album debuted with 61k, this might get near the same..

And are you putting Itano at the same level of Ayaka and Nishino!? LOL there is something really wrong with you

I'm sorry for replying to your old post but I feel like I just have to.
Honestly speaking (from my perspective) you're the one who's been attacking Tomochin from the very beginning. I'm a fan of many J-acts, including Ayu and AKB. When I first learned that they both are going to release an album at the same date I was a bit anxious. I don't want to see Tomochin rank low, on the other hand I wouldn't want to see Ayu lost either. I wasn't surprised at all about the ranking since I've already guessed that Ayu would rank higher than Tomochin and turned out I was right. Probably not many Tomochin's fans expected her to outrank Ayu or anything since her sales has pretty much declined over time. Your signature and your remark about "at least she beats Tomochin" is completely unnecessary. From what I see, you're the one who keeps comparing them. Why not compare her with someone else? Why do you keep picking on Tomomi? It's perfectly fine for fans to wish the best for the artists they support but there's no need to bring other down to prove that your bias is 'doing better'. Oh and regarding Acchan only releasing 3 (actually 4) singles with 'not as high' sales nowadays, it's mainly because Acchan focuses more being an actress. She didn't intentionally want to be a full fledged singer. Acting is her main goal, singing is a side job. Not to mention that her latest single is clearly tinged with rock influence, something her fans not used to and this is perhaps one of the reason why it didn't fare too well, though declining sales on solo acts (including AKB graduates) isn't that uncommon.
Now if you just try to put yourself on others' shoes, imagine if Kazumasa's fan said: "Damn, Oda only landed on 4? Well at least he managed to beat Ayu. AYUMI FREAKING HAMASAKI!!! once THE EMPRESS OF JPOP!!! HA!" Now that doesn't feel so good, does it?

Oh and don't just go and say you're a fan of AKB and such, sugar-coating your excuses, because from the eyes of fans and wotas you're clearly not. No real fan will regard their idols so low.

I'm really surprised with the new top 3 and their sales. I hope Kyary can get the No.1 !!!
After Namie Amuro, is there another girl with a No.1 album this year ?

lame excuse :rolleyes. That's what they say when they don't know how to come up with a decent argument. My reply was long because it actually summed up what you've been posting, I think you'd prefer this rather than me quoting your older posts one by one.

This shows that Ayu still has her fan base for a veteran singer who's already past her prime to be able to sell in that number :yes (considering the little -or lack thereof, promotion she did for the album) People seem to misunderstand that because you're from AKB you're supposed to sell well. AKB's earning comes from the fans of 82 GIRLS. Counting from the last election, the most popular girl got around 150K votes. That shows the more accurate number of ONE girl's fans.
