Actually, Wake me up may be a Party Queen demo. She said she had plenty of songs for Party Queen as to release it as a double album.

Melody is one of ayu's songs that I always find myself singing or humming. It has such a good melody to it. Like BALLAD, it really deserves its title. Too bad that the production in the chorus is a bit harsh.

truehappiness 22nd May 2016 09:33 AM

I wish Melody was able to become a staple track, it's just so soothing. Perfect for encores.

I'm not a huge fan of Melody... but LOVE again in general is probably the album that I least like from her. I love Wake me up, Song 4 u and Missing and occasionally listen to Bye-bye darling, Sweet scar and petal but that's it. Quite sad for me because normally I like all songs, except for one or two.

Ah well, she can't satisfy everyone everytime.

I think as discussed before (a few pages back) about CdM being career themed, I'm pretty sure A ONE and CdM are very closely related thematically.

Running away/changing herself and being very headstrong about the decision, then realising that it's a huge mistake and wanting to go back to who she was, then eventually experiencing happiness after being back with people who cares about her - people in Japan and her fans. Last minute's PV also kinda exemplified that conflict between the WARNING attitude (black Ayu) and the Ayu that wants to go back and find herself (red Ayu). I thought it was interesting how the lyrics of WARNING and Zutto... were so contrasting.

Oh, so I'm not the only one who thinks WARNING represents the Ayu that ran away? I mean, yeah I worded myself poorly by saying she "regrets" writing it, but what I meant to say is that Ayu in WARNING is the Ayu running away from her problems, so it's not what she actually thinks now. Like, I know she wrote those lyrics on purpose, but she regrets being that Ayu, that's what I meant.

truehappiness 22nd May 2016 12:58 PM

I'm a bit curious about why she placed WARNING where she did on the album, though I suppose it wouldn't have fit anywhere else other than the beginning, but why after a Bell? Why not have a Bell after the "WARNING"? I suppose I wish she had more comments about WARNING specifically and not just about the songs afterward / the album as a whole being about "ONE".

^For me, A Bell represents the calm, the security people have. It's like "I can criticize her what I want, withouth limitations" and then WARNING starts like "Hey, no, you are wrong. I can't stand this anymore".

Basically this is what I thought. Besides, the soothing atmosphere created by a Bell makes it feel like WARNING's first notes sound harder and louder, more or less as if ayu woke the listener up by shouting in their ear. I like this structure, even if in my opinion it would've worked better without that "spoiler" title and the PV (or at least the fact it came before the album) to "ruin the surprise" :P

Yeah yeah! And it's kinda reflective about how at that point she thought it was the absolute correct decision to be gone and she's all like screw all of y'all I'm doing it my way. Then boom, NO FUTURE kicks in, conflict and apprehension. What I really enjoyed about A ONE wasn't necessarily how the songs sounded though they did sound great to me. But when you dig deeper, the introspection about her state of mind was suuuuper interesting to me. That was what made that album and CdM so brilliant to me. The entire GAME to WARNING section was such a great piece of narrative.

Btw, I love Melody.

ayu-michan 22nd May 2016 09:02 PM

Thank you you guys for deeper explanations of A ONE, I'm gonna re-listen to it with a better view now!

truehappiness 22nd May 2016 09:35 PM

There's usually always a story behind the albums and that enriches the listening experience quite a bit. Though we usually need translations for some of the more difficult ones to get.

it was my jam back in the days. Now i kind of got it a bit overplayed so i tend to skip it. But i still remember how lovely it made me feel.

i wish Sweet scar would get a live performance someday.

guys are there any songs that were not very well received in general amongst fans on here but you absolutely loved? For me personaly, right now i can only recall two songs that i never saw too many phrasing words for - I am... & Eyes Smoke Magic. I wasn't really around when I am.. came out but from where i joined in, i cannot remember people saying anything particularly good about the title song.

truehappiness 22nd May 2016 10:29 PM

Life, Born To Be...., ANGEL'S SONG, beloved, Thank U.

I wonder if "You are the only one" will face the same treatment

truehappiness 23rd May 2016 12:22 AM

Most likely. It's already getting the "this is too Disney I do not like it" after a while.

Next_Level29 23rd May 2016 12:38 AM

^isnt it?? I had the rapunzel scene in mind, where both weere sitting in bthe boat and all these light balls travelled up to the sky . this is you are the only one, for me.

rainbow_smile 23rd May 2016 01:00 AM

It reminded me a lot of Disney as well, and I don't dislike it, but the song is a bit too slow for me, so I probably won't listen to it very often.

But I personally think that in addition to that, the structure of the song is very similar to hbya. Except, it has less English in the chorus. But the way she "shows off" her vocals near the end with her "you da only-y waAaaAaAaAaaaaaan" really reminds me of the hbya ending, which has been getting quite a bit of hate.

truehappiness 23rd May 2016 01:16 AM

I love when she does that.

You're the only oneeee
You don't know! You don't know! How beautiful you are!
Ooo la la la lalalala, let me love you forever!

Ryusei 23rd May 2016 01:49 AM

I really like the GIFT even though a lot of people on here don't like it... I haven't been on here long enough to know what was received in what way other than that. But it also seems like a lot of people here don't seem to like return road and letter which I both love. Maybe I have a wrong impression on that though...
