oh i know that. I love misono, by the way. And im deeply surprised by how low her solo sales have been. I expected never + land to sell at least 100,000

hiroshi_ben 29th March 2007 04:37 AM

hmm hopefully A BEST 2 will have better sales at the end of the year.

I've always considered masa to be a reliable source of information and insight, so as far as "9/11 influence and continuing her career after A BEST" goes, please consider the following:
Spoiler:
From the timidity and loss of self-confidence of "NEVER EVER", the loneliness and despair of "Endless sorrow" to the hope and unity of "UNITE!". What were the incidents which led to this desirable reversal drama? -- I suppose there were mainly two. One would be that she came to have confidence in others little by little while preparing for the Dome Tour (June 22 to July 7) together with many staffs. And the other would be the starting or the restarting of the association with Nagase Tomoya. It was later in September that she made it public. But, as she told what suggested it in a concert of the Dome Tour, I suppose it had started just around the time she wrote "UNITE!". (Otherwise, if she had recovered by herself without such a favourable turn in her private life, there is no words to describe it but amazing mental power.)
Speaking of the Dome Tour, she fell down from the stage in a reharsal and got injured in the ligament of her leg. But as she was helped by many staffs after the accident, her mental conditions got even better. Moreover, after the concert in Osaka, she found a kindred spirit in D.A.I-san (Mr. Nagao Dai), whom she had not been on friendly terms with, and they tried to collaborate in composing. The song made in this way was "Dearest", a warm and tender song at a midium tempo, different from her previous songs in rock style.

[...]

The lyrics of "A Song is born" is, in fact, almost as same as the opening message of the Dome Tour with slight difference. But it doesn't mean that she was neglect in making it up. The incident of Sept. 11 certainly shocked her, but when she was going to write a lyrics from what she thought then, she noticed she had already uttered such words. In other words, her social concern had started to grow before the incident.

And you need to learn to argue with civility. There is no way to prove your 9/11 theory unless you were inside Ayu's head at the time. So please stop acting as if it's a fact. The same goes for anyone else's theory, since no one here was close enough to the situation to definitively say. She was against the release of A Best and for various reasons still decided to continue her career afterwards anyways - just leave it at that.

At this rate, they may not hit 700K. Hopefully they'll have the staying power best albums usually have.

no? that dosent even seem relevant in the least.
As i said, She would have her career go on after A BEST, but only until all her things scheduled were over.

Why are you talking about relevance when you are talking about the effect of 9/11 on A BEST in a A BEST II chart sales.

Hopefully sales will go up b/c of the concert! It looks so far like A BEST 2 will repeat Secret's sucess in Taiwan.

+ It's a Best with basically no new material. Unlike this one which comes with a concert and documentary. They're unevenly weighed. If you want a fair match, do Best ~second session~ and A BEST 2 -White-. The only way to save A Best 2 now is for avex to repackage it as A Best 2 B&W (2 CDs 2 DVDs), drop the concert, and give it a huge price drop. That'll put it back on the market. Secret could use a nice big price drop too to boost up sales.

Peger 30th March 2007 05:52 PM

I dunno, i think you can compare B&L to AB2. B&L has two new songs, new versions of her old hits, a new video, and the dance teaching video. A BEST 2 together probrably has the edge due to the new song and the concert, but overall the extras in each Best are pretty much equal. Also, it's not quite clear whether B&L is limited and to what extent that limit applies. I think you can compare them, but you have to take into consideration B&L's possible limitations.
