I absolutely love Sweet Scar, and Ayu performs the song beautifully... but, knowing that it's a DAI composition, I can't not imagine how it would sound with Tomiko Van's vocals, her warmer and "fuller" timbre. :love I've had this thought in mind since the song's original release in 2012. A dream cover that will never happen. :tipsy

Day 28 - walking proud
Not only the arrangement and lyrics are beautiful, but her emotions are truely hearable. I love how it begins soft and calm and builds up to this outburst in the end. I wish I could talk about this more, but there is already a beautiful explaination written by Chibi a couple of pages ago. All of you have written so much about walking proud, that I can't really add more to the praise this song got (and totally deserves)! It is great to see that many others are loving this song as well! |
Day 26: A song that makes you want to fall in love
This is probably the hardest one and maybe none at all. lol But if I had to choose one, I would say HONEY, it's a cutesy song done right and one of the few I like. It's heartwarming. =) Day 27: A song that breaks your heart Too many. But somehow criminal always makes me feel so desperate and I can only listen to it when I'm really really sad myself. Not only is it a song about nostalgia, and both the lyrics and the music are fabulous at evoking that feeling, I also have my own personal nostalgic memories around the song. I remember discovering the song and a low-quality upload of the PV in Summer 2008 and staying up way too late, several days in a row, to just play it on loop, mesmerized by the song. I think it's one of the first Japanese songs I learned the lyrics for and to this day, I can sing it from memory. I also used to have the instrumental set as the wake-up alarm on my phone but ended up changing it after a while because I found the intro a little too quiet and occasionally a little creepy for the first thing to hear in the morning. :P Spoiler:

Day 29: A song that makes you nostalgic Connected Thinking about the first time I ever heared of Ayu makes me think about waaay Back, when at one night I searched the TV stations for something to watch and catched the last ... ~30 seconds of the music video. I was so hyped after that and had the urge to Tell my best friend at that time all about how awesome it was. And you know it got better. Idk how long after that I went to a german multimedia store and found the german single for Connected. This CD has been played over and over again in my discman. To Be. This song is so bittersweet and longing. I remember after going to CDL 04-05 I couldn't get this or Key out of my head for months. That acoustic segment was flawless. |
Day 29 - INSPIRE / GAME
The single was my first Ayu-posession, I played it over and over in dad's car (I am so sorry, dad). It was my destiny to learn the INSPIRE choreo by heart and I danced this so many times. Captivated by her performance on AT05, it easily became my teenage anthem. Whenever I listen to it today, it reminds me of the colourful days from my teens, which are rare - because I despiced my life back then. I can't forget about GAME either, the song that I enjoyed so much I even signed up on AHS. But it also reminds me of an hilarious memory: I was looking up the labyrinth video that is played right before GAME on AT05. My mom peeked over my shoulder, and suddenly freaked out, because she thought I was looking up BDSM-porn. I laugh out loud when I think of this. I get her point now, but needless to say: I was so young when I saw this, I didn't even fantasize about any of this stuff. I just really enjoyed the costumes and cool blond-brunette hairstyle from that era. |

29 - M this song takes me back to the end of 2008 when I was taking care of my sister's dog while she was in the hospital (I was his godfather and I loved him like he was my own) and it was really beautiful winter night when I took him out for a walk in the middle of nowhere where my dad lives and I remember listening to M back then and actually have my first winter memory with an ayu song. I don't know why but that is a very special memory in my mind. Just me, the dog and M blasting in my headphones out in the snow. I was 14 back then and I was still figuring out who I was. the time has passed and the dog is not with us anymore unfortunately but my mind will always go back to that night whenever I hear M. it's funny because M is the one of her songs I almost everytime think that is was too overrated in ayu's discography yet it always get me so emotional and I actually love it at the same time. it's confusing. I'm confusing. |

You & Me. This was the first ayu release that I was really anticipating after becoming a fan in early 2012. I remember how excited I was when the mv came out on Youtube (or was it the short ver,?), I was in awe of ayu's beauty. 2012 was such a high peak in terms of ayu music for me, can you imagine having so much stuff to listen to in such a short amount of time? I was blown away (in the best way) , especially with ayu, who had changed her sound so many times. Can't believe that this was 8 years ago. Day 30 - A song that reminds you of yourself This is an interesting one as well. Walk is one that comes to mind immediately. |

Day 30: I am... did Ayu wrote this song or was it me? The main reason I’m a fan of this woman after so many years is her lyrics. The level of resonance is extremely high for me. Even the most regular pop sounding track has a deeper meaning to it. It is hard to only choose one song on this entry as there are soo many.
