Well, my view of the whole thing is basically this:
MW -> she "yelled" for most of the portions of that song, so.. yeah. The beginning is kinda like, a talky portion, and the WOWOWWOWW YEAHYRHEYAHA is bound to sound weird.

Boys & Girls -> 2nd to last song, so.. she's probably like, yelling out the words as usual. And she just got off of that cart thingie.

Greatful days -> After Ayu is able to rest a bit after ASFXX, she's changed and starts a new set of songs with this. IMO, Greatful days is one of the easiest songs in her discography to sing.. much like STEP you, so it's possible she could just nail it because it's like.. a reaaaaaaaaaalllly easy song. And her voice is really clear during the GD segment before when she kinda yells the "R U HAVING FUN!?" or whatever..

haiz...no everyone is doubting ayu's abilities...ok not exactly her abilities...but...u noe wad i mean...

its quite ironic...
when Ayu doesnt sing well live, we all hate it...
when she sounds perfect, we doubt it...

o well

I don't think and am not going to believe that she'll ever lip synch. truehappiness is a point there: Greatful days really is one of her easiest songs to sing, or maybe as compared to Mirrorcle World.

I agree. I actually don't think Greatful Days sounds lip-synced, and I still think it sounds like she yelled through it, but it was just much more nasally than the previous two songs. Plus it's an incredibly easy song to sing. MW, IMO, is one of her harder songs.

*-*

Uuuaaa she sounds sooo amazing in Greatful Days..
I wish I could go this year. T T

I think she's so much energy in boys & girls... I think one of the best ones, even though she sounds screaming... ahaha.

She really looks like she recovered from everything that happened last year, and more. Like she has a new life, and new energy~

Even when watching the AT08 videos, she sounds so much energy!~~ especially evolution... and now greatful days and boys and girls... I can't wait for the broadcast.

I think it sounds odd, cause they have a straight recording into the broadcast, no reverb or echo. We are used to hearing that, so it's kinda weird.

MissElin_ 2nd September 2008 07:52 PM

Ooooh thanks for posting them!! ^^ I looove her orange outfit!

Lee_410 2nd September 2008 07:55 PM

Thank you!

maikaru 2nd September 2008 08:25 PM

She looks so different...
Like her face got bigger.
Not fatter, ahaha~
But like, her eyes look like they moved inside O_O;;

I think she looks kinda old in those pictures. -o-;
But I'm glad she has fun~

EDIT: And her HAIR COLOUR looks so orange. ahaha.

People! have you ever heard the studio version of Grateful Days (plus the KU in hajimeyuKU does sound different and LIVE)?There is no reason to lip-sync an a-nation performance especially not a song such as this one. And if that's not enough, Ayu screwed up her live perfs. (when it comes to singing) too many times to care about this one, so there is no reason as the performance wasn't that tiring. And after the dumb comments about her lip-syncing Marionette I am pretty sure most of the people don't even listen properly and make false statements.

Lip synching is very sophisticated these days. People don't just use the recording of the song anymore. :) I've seen her live in person several times and I'm sure that she sang live all the time in AT 04, AT 05, and CDL 06-07. After that though, at A-Nation 07, I was pretty certain that she lip synched 1 Love and Until that Day. And during AT 08, I still think that Marionette and Don't Leave Me Alone were lipsynched as well. (it should be obvious just watching the news clip that Marionette is lip synched.) She is wearing a head set mic so you should at least hear breath sounds (which get edited out on the dvd), but you hear none plus it is basically physically impossible to jerk your torso around that much through out the entire song and not have it show in your voice at all.

Also there is the infamous time from CDL 05/06 when during Theme of A-Nation on the tv broadcast there is a close up of her face where it is pretty clear she is mouthing the wrong word and a different sound is coming out. (and Theme of A-Nation is certainly a song you would think she wouldn't have to lip synch)

I think we, as fans often just can't look at this subject objectively because we so badly want her to be singing live all of the time and it clouds our judgment about the likely reality. I think it's ok that she occasionally lip syncs, but it does suck that it seems to be happening more than before. I'd rather hear Ayu sound kinda bad than not real.

Like I said before though, this particular performance of GD is up in the air and we can't judge fully unless we see the whole thing. But, I also think that it is certain she has indeed occasionally lip synched before.

waterballoon 2nd September 2008 08:33 PM

Her assets look... huge on the orange dress. Oh my. But besides that, the costumes are generally all right... except the orange dress, since it's a color she hardly uses. The silver outift also reminds me of her is this LOVE?/(miss)understood performance in AT 06 without the sleeves...

aura~ 2nd September 2008 08:53 PM

I love the outfits!! And about GD... yeah it sounds so PERFECT... well Idk why she have to lipsync this song and no others more dificult than this.... well maybe its not all lipsync... idk...

And all this videos make me think about which performans will be included in the DVD... sure MW/GD/B&G and i'm sure that July 1st have to be included, is the last song... but there's no ballad.. so...asfxx or Hanabi... I hope asfxx... as I said I like the contrast betwen the "first" and the last song ^^

bye and thankyou for the pics and clips!!

But... in that time, you could hear the microphone breaths and the weird noises her mouth makes... the with the spit and stuff. I am not convinced that she lipsynced that song... cause there just isn't a reason to lipsync the song... she had 2 minutes to rest before the song, and she sounded the same throughout the entire concert, so ... we will never know what's really to happen at that concert, but I think... like, in the second news feature, when they show they wow yeah from greatful days, she sounds really shouting. I think it's really impossible for her to be lipsyncing Greatful days, because the mixing sounds the same as mirrorcle world and boys and girls, no reverb and no echo, you can just clearly hear her voice..

Plus, the shouting before the song sounds exactly the same kind of vocal quality as the singing... so I don't believe it.

But who knows, maybe she has so advanced methods of doing it... ahaha. Or maybe she used backing track?~

Well, whatever the case is, she still had fun, and it looks really super~energy, so I still can't wait to see it.

So, whats the explanation then? It was shown live and there didn't appear to be any kind of glitch going on. Also, I haven't watched it in a long time but I don't remember there being breath sounds or anything, but if there were, it's easily explainable because people do indeed make sure to keep those in when they record versions of songs to lip sync to now. One of my friends is a professional singer/performer - he's Japanese actually so we often watch all kinds of jpop music shows together and it's honestly so annoying because he always points out who is lip synching and who is not and I'm just like shut up and let me watch already. haha Anyways, even people who I think sound totally live he'll say are most likely lip synching and that lip synching has become extremely sophisticated over the last few years.

btw, I'm sure Ayu has never lip synced on any of her tv performances such as music station, cdtv, etc etc. (too risky maybe?)

Sorry?? IMO Marionette is REALLY not lipsynched. Just look at her mouth, the sound and listen to the vocals! It's soo live. If it was lip synched, at least she could make it sound better like when she lip synched 1 LOVE or evolution.

Nor is (don't) Leave me alone lip synched, in that particular news clip fragment. Plus, AT08 is the first concert since AT06 with evolution live. I think with this concert she didn't want to lip synch.

I wouldn't be surprised if decision was lip synched, though. She tends to do lip synching with her sexy dance songs.

Plus what's the big deal with lip synching anyway? It's like those things that you don't know for sure, so people keep guessing and guessing because they NEED to know, like human nature. But seriously as long as you don't notice it, how can it annoy you? You'd only become paranoid with every song, and end up with the conclusion that she only sings MUSIC STATION perfs live.:tipsy

I was just searching for some a-nation reviews and found this: http://www.japantoday.com/category/p...ayumi-hamasaki

Scroll down to read the comments. That person said that they think Ayu lip synched 2 songs in the middle. I'm guessing those two were Greatful Days and fairyland.

Linza-mo 2nd September 2008 09:38 PM

Thanks ~angel*ayumi~ !!!

ren0210989 2nd September 2008 09:55 PM

GD is really not lip-synced, you can easily tell, just listen more carefully and you'll notice that she didn't xD
