You seem to think that every artist on here is inspired. :rolleyes

I think Namie's look was more or less inspired by the Coke colors....but the Electra thing looks a little like it....I doubt she got inspired from such a bad movie though...

non3ko 19th February 2010 02:38 AM

^Yeah I think it was just the outfit picked out for the Coke ad to match the colors of the new Coke Zero. That Elektra outfit is :no. The movie ruined the character for me. Kinda like Iron Man among others...

however, i think it's not that it's being done, but the fact that Japan wasn't respecting their requests of talking things out first before doing it.

and also, you're all aware of japan trying to crack down on sushi making around the world, right? they want it made the "correct, japanese way"--and they wan't to make (or have made?) a certification process for places making sushi.

similar in terms of protecting something which some people might find stupid.

People have taken dances from people's culture and used it in movies lots of times.

Being part Native American, I wouldn't be offended. I'd be happy that a part of my culture is being exposed to people who didn't know about it before. It'd be fine as long as their not mocking it.

What about when other cultures do hip-hop or mimic the African-American culture?

It probably had more to do with them not heeding their requests to talk with them about using what is probably very important to their culture first, like you mentioned.

I agree with the sushi certification issue. They sell it pre-made in Kroger's, H-E-B, Sam's, and it can be days old just sitting there. I don't think the avocado is supposed to look brown, or the cucumber dried out. :/ Something definitely needs to be done about that. :yes

Namie's Coca Cola Zero CM/Making/Break It song isn't on the official site anymore... :irked You think it has to do with the maori haka controversy?... :(

pommy48 20th February 2010 12:59 PM

@_@ probably....

does that mean that namie will have to film another CM?

(though if she does, I hope it'll be better than the one taken down)
