Ohno Satoshi’s “Kaibutsu-kun JET” to go into service

http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/1...tsukunjet6.jpg

On October 30th, Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi (30) appeared at the unveiling of “Kaibutsu-kun JET” which is the collaboration airplane between Ohno’s upcoming movie “Kaibutsu-kun” and Japan Air Line (=JAL). The airplane is a Boeing 777-200 that’s painted with face of “Kaibutsu-kun”. The collaboration was possible because JAL empathized with the concept of the movie that is to give hopes, dreams and enthusiasm to kids. The JET will start going into service on November 1st.

35 elementary school students were invited at the ceremony which was held at a hangar in Haneda Airport, and Ohno who made a surprise appearance for the kids, told them “It’s me! Huge, isn’t it? It’s my JET!” Arashi’s pictures have been on JAL airplanes twice in the past, this is the third time for Ohno’s face to be printed on an airplane.

Referring to Johnny Kitagawa’s Guinness World Record , Ohno said, “I would like to aim for the Guinness World Record of having the highest number of times a face was printed on an airplane.”

The upcoming movie “Kaibutsu-kun” is scheduled to be released on November 26th in both 2D and 3D.

Here comes another Arashi-related jet...why does Arashi prefer JAL? Any experience even before the Arashi-JAL official tie-up since last year?

Just wanted to say that Nino is the cutest thing ever and I'm obsessed with him. Unfortunately, I can't stand ARASHI's music. Haven't heard a song I like yet. I'm open to recommendations though.

KarenPang 1st November 2011 02:02 PM

well I don't know what kind of music genre/s you like but personally to me , their older works are still the best

they were very hip hop/rock driven & most of their long time fans will probably say that Time is still hands down their best album they've released in their career

For me , eh I'm old school so their older stuff are worth checking out for , for sure

Midori-chan 1st November 2011 02:04 PM

^^ Well...maybe you want to try and listen to the "not-so-cutesy"-songs.

My first Arashi song was "truth" (the opening song for Riida's drama "Maou"!) and it's a very dark and powerful song:

(The video has nothing to do with the song though! :laugh

Other quite unique songs in my opinion are: "Tokei jikake no umbrella", "Ashita no kioku", "Refrain", "Carry on", "Hatenai sora" and "To be free".
Riida's solos are also always epic win, especially "Song for me", "Rain" and "Take me faraway"! And if you like Nino so much, then you should also listen to "Niji" and "Konseki". He wrote both songs himself (lyrics + music) and they're just beautiful!
"Niji" will forever be my all-time favourite Arashi solo song!

What I've learned about Arashi-songs so far is, that the B-sides of their singles are sometimes much better than the A-sides!

KarenPang 1st November 2011 02:10 PM

It's worth checking out the 1st disc of their ARASHI 5x10 All the BEST ! 1999 - 2009 for sure

So much good material in that disc . I'm not saying disc 2 is bad but if you compare & contrasts both discs , the quality/material is just very ... different

1 of my faves definitely has to be Aozora Pedal . Suga Shikao is the 1 that wrote & composed it & most recently , Suga released his Sugarless II compilation album & oh boy , for him to cover/sing his own rendition , makes me appericate both what ARASHI & Suga sang so much more

Separately of course haha

bondingo 1st November 2011 02:59 PM

Wow, thanks for all the recommendations! Truth is nothing like I'd ever have expected an ARASHI song to sound like since I'm used to hearing only the recent typical boy group pop songs like Monster. I have to say I kind of like it. I'll look into all the other songs you mentioned too and that best album, since I definitely prefer boy groups who do less poppy, more cool songs. To give some perspective, my favorite boy groups are SHINee, BIG BANG, and Super Junior.

KarenPang 1st November 2011 03:05 PM

truth is their 1st dark song that they released as a single . They do have other songs that're quite simliar in this vibe such as Jidai & PIKA☆NCHI

I don't listen to SHINee, BIG BANG, and Super Junior so I'm quite handicap in this aspect but if you're looking for some non cheesy ARASHI songs , sure there're , it's just that you have to dive/look much in depth

Cry for you which's taken from their Time album is a good song to start !

Midori-chan 1st November 2011 04:44 PM

Yes, "truth" is quite unique! It's my favourite song from them, by the way! :heart

Oh well, Arashi's music is quite far away from the music of the groups you mentioned, but like Karen said, they do have some darker and less cutesy songs, you just have to dig deeper.

Besides the ones we have mentioned so far, "Firefly", "Once Again" and "Right back to you" come to my mind too!

Arashi donates 300 million yen to disaster relief

It’s been revealed that popular group Arashi has donated about 300 million yen (approximately $3,841,229 USD) to Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima, the areas affected by the Tohoku earthquake.

A portion of the donation includes the members’ royalties from their book “Nippon no Arashi : pocket version” which was released back in June. As reported last fall, “Nippon no Arashi” is based on the Arashi members’ trip throughout Japan, and it was first privately donated to 40,000 elementary, junior high, and high schools nationwide. Then the book was released to the public, due to the high demand, and has sold about 420,000 copies. The 300 million yen also includes the profits from the publishing company, as well as the sales of the charity goods from the charity event “Arashi no Wakuwaku Gakkou” which was held at the Tokyo Dome for three days back in June.

The donation was made directly to each prefecture on November 2nd (100 million yen or around $1.28 million USD per a prefecture).

That's real business there. I'm glad Arashi is doing at least a part in helping the victims of the earthquake.
