Midas Promotions reluctantly announces, that after receiving a legal letter from the Japanese organisers at 5:30pm this evening that there is " No Possibility to Hold the Show."

Despite Midas’s ongoing endeavors to bring Namie Amuro to play to her fans next Friday, we have been specifically instructed by her legal team to announce that the concert on 26 April is cancelled. Further details will be posted later.

Midas has never cancelled a concert of their own accord and as such are equally disappointed as her fans to be given this instruction for no logical reason. With Midas Promotions, fans always come first.

Still praying for the day when some organizers bring in ayu to Singapore!

I feel disappointed that the concert was cancelled and I'm not even going! I pray for a reschedule for fans who wanted to see her.

A tour wouldn't have been announced in the first place if Namie's management company hadn't judged there would be enough interest in one, so if ticket sales are lackluster blame falls equally, if not moreso, on Midas' shoulders, imo. They're not doing their job and actively promoting the concert like they're being paid ¥¥¥ to do. :shrug

you can plaster the posters on the inside part of people's sun/glasses and plaster them all over the place if people are not interested in her or are not her fans, they won't go.

& + H 18th April 2013 11:41 PM

They said it was cancelled a week ago,
They cancelled another one?

The facebook post that was linked to earlier had a rundown of the promotion that Midas did for the concert...they didn't do jackshit.

It was announced that it was cancelled, yes, but on the Japanese side. But it's not confirmed to be cancelled until both sides come to an agreement about the cancellation, and the Singapore side has confirmed this only last night.

SolarAngel 19th April 2013 10:01 AM

I heard that Midas defaulted on the 2nd half of the payment to the Japanese side which was due 3 weeks ago resulting in them pulling the plug, and the default was due to poor ticket sales. I'm really shocked and disappointed about this whole incident. I thought Namie performing here in Singapore would be this huge deal and ticket sales should never have been a problem.

jiarongisme 19th April 2013 12:45 PM

^ It wouldn't be a problem if it was promoted properly and the tickets weren't so expensive. Many people only know about the concert AFTER the cancellation. Haha.

SolarAngel 19th April 2013 05:05 PM

And there's still no word on how to get a refund!

inspire_rmx 19th April 2013 05:43 PM

I'm really super disappointed about this whole incident :(

He had no intention for the show to be cancelled. And ticket sales should not be a concern.

So said Mr Steven Woodward, director of Midas Promotions, the Singapore promoter of the Namie Amuro concert that had just been cancelled.

Netizens had blamed the promotion company for lacklustre ticket sales for the Japanese pop star's concert here, which was supposed to be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium next Friday.

Mr Woodward said the Japanese organiser of the gig, On The Line, told them that the concert was cancelled as Midas Promotions had failed to pay production costs on time.

The news, he said, was a big blow to him and his team.

So it was Midas' fault after all. Sure enough, it was unprofessional of VF to announce the cancellation before informing Midas about it. But the fact that Midas did not pay the production cost on time is simply stupid tbh. So disappointing. What's worse is that they have not even published an actual apology to the fans. Their latest statement about this issue kinda sounds like they're blaming VF too. Ridiculous.

Btw, Contrail sounds like a grower. Gotta listen to it more before I really, really like it. It's not bad at the first listen though.

CoriKaru 20th April 2013 12:21 PM

I am listening the crap out of "Contrail." Just like, I don't know. And I think I'm going to like this low quality rip more than the real thing, because I associate all of the drama from the voice overs during the song with the song. They make the song better. Even the pauses and when they cut the music volume down so we can hear the actors.

Like in the beginning when you hear the guys going "OoohOooohOooh." I don't know. It just sounds like one complete production. I won't like the song as much without all of the actors talking over the song.

And I love the beginning of the Chorus where she is either saying, "What is Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife", or "What is Looooooove." Or maybe she is saying both because she says the line twice. And then I like how she says "Contrail" at the end of the choruses. Yeah, this song just snuck up on me.

Just the way the song sounds. It sounds like something else un-namie.

pommy48 21st April 2013 08:52 AM

Just saw from a Namie fan-weibo that Namie said her next album will come out this summer according to Vivi June issue
