Hmm...has anyone ever dreamed of miwa getting an actress job like this before?

mellody 29th August 2014 03:08 PM

Hmm, it's more like everyone already expected that someday miwa is getting an actress job like this, in comparison of YUI. YUI became Amane Kaoru for Taiyou no Uta before.

This is... somewhat funny.

EDITED:
New single in November 12th!

According to the info in Sony Music website, this is a theme song for a certain event in Paris and the song will be promoted there.

The song title is 希望の環(WA) (Kibou no Wa) (WA) means Ring of Hope, I suppose.

I heard she had a live performance in Paris?

Kacku 12th November 2014 05:13 PM

The new single is great! I was surprised to get two wintery ballads from miwa, but they both hit the mark for me: Kibou no Wa grows beautifully, I love the chorus-backed chanting in the end, and Gesshoku is a nice, cozy, warm ballad -- it reminds me of Otoshimono a bit, but I like this one way more. So happy to get such a single for the Christmas season. :heart

Bigtop 13th November 2014 07:20 AM

First day: #9; KinKi Kids (Johnny's) was #1, Berryz Kobo #2 (idols one-two). I'm actually surprised that it was in direct competition with aiko, which got #7, and Sony's (Epic Records) ikimono-gakari, who got #10...wait -

In the nearly-five-year history of miwa, I've seen miwa vs. ayaka (2013, as well as 2012 miwa single on the same day as ayaka's comeback album)...but for the first time ever miwa vs. ikimono-gakari!?!?! Whoa... This 24-year-old guitar girl doing better than a group that are all in their 30s (their vocalist, Kiyoe Yoshioka, turned 30 on February 28/March 1 this year, since she was born on February 29, 1984, and February 29 is the "leap day" of a leap year, and 1984 was a leap year)... I'm pretty surprised that miwa can do better than ikimono-gakari, but even this single, with it's #9 ranking on the first day - it's underrated... (I do agree with Kacku's opinions to back it up)

Delicious n Bold 13th November 2014 07:43 PM

Imma have to give the new single a listen. I remember being in Japan and delight was playing at some spots and I liked it a lot.

miwa announces her 1st single for 2015
Quote:

miwa's new single "fighting -φ- girls" will be released on January 28.

On December 27, miwa held a live concert at Osaka-jo Hall. It was during the encore of this stage that she announced her 1st single of 2015.

SEE ALSO: miwa to sing the theme song for new 'Doraemon' movie

The title track for "fighting -φ- girls" has been picked up as the theme song for TBS' upcoming drama 'Masshiro' starring Horikita Maki. It's a "fighting song" dedicated to women who work hard everyday.

The single will be available for purchase in both limited and regular editions. The limited edition will come with a DVD containing a digest footage of miwa's acoustic tour "miwa acoustic live tour 2014: acoguissimo3" which was held in June.

She'll sing the theme for Doraemon too.

Bigtop 30th December 2014 10:52 PM

Man, I can't wait for this single...it's not 2015 yet, yet it's going to be jam-packed with all this stuff...!

mellody 31st December 2014 04:40 AM

The covers and promo pic for new single are here: http://www.barks.jp/news/?id=1000111110

It's like a collage of her selfies lol.

The song for Doraemon is also here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM4oGenonjM called 360°.

One more thing, she will do a voice for a character called "wa-mi-" in the movie, first seiyuu job for her. She'll do fine I think.

adantatu2 31st December 2014 05:41 AM

Oh, thanks for more info :)

Bigtop 19th February 2015 03:25 AM

I'm bumping this thread because no one has responded...

Here's what we have right now:
  • miwa released "fighting-φ-girls" late last month
  • miwa is about to release 360° next week
  • miwa is about to release a new album - first in TWO YEARS (last album was "Delight" in May of 2012) called "ONENESS" - to release on April 8th, the same day as Ayu's "A ONE" album! Battle of the ONE, I suppose?

The last one, I have to make a point - this is "the ONE" matchup to watch - the ONE legend (Ayu) vs. the ONE rising superstar (miwa). April 8th - barring any Johnny's act or any other big act announcing a new album (hopefully we don't), this could be an interesting battle for #1...

http://www.barks.jp/news/?id=1000112854

Kacku 19th February 2015 03:33 PM

ONENESS, really? Such a lame title. :grumpy I wonder how many previously released songs she's gonna include, there are SO MANY. Also wondering how the new songs are gonna sound. I wish I could feel more optimistic, but she's been kind of all over the place recently: fighting-φ-girls was weird, not a fitting or flattering style for her imo, and 360° was just painful (prayer circle for it being excluded from the album :grouphug). Well, at least there's a lot of good stuff from this era too (Faraway, Faith, both songs from her winter single), I hope we'll have some more gems on the album.

adantatu2 19th February 2015 10:36 PM

^Exactly, there are a lot of songs, and honestly her last singles are weird to me, I don't like this miwa at all. I thought we would get a best.

And Bigtop, miwa already won the battle for the No1. 2 years without an album and many singles with tie-ins and performances are the difference.

Probably so. I mean, which album would appeal to the younger buyers? ayu or miwa? Probably miwa - she's just too good!

And Kisumai (Kis-My-Ft2, a Johnny's group) releasing an album on April 8th - 99% a no. They just announced releasing a single on March 25th (Karen Pang's post here), so I don't think they would come out with a new album that soon...

mellody 20th February 2015 06:31 PM

Oh it's finally posted here.

Thank God it's not just me who felt that way, recent miwa releases are so boring.
The last song I -quite- enjoyed from her was Kibou no Wa, the B-side is so forgettable.
I don't know what kind of direction she's going now with this lame title, I don't like it at all.

I'm enjoying her cover songs on her radio or in some live performances compared to her works. She needs to release a cover album.

Kacku 20th February 2015 08:38 PM

^I'm also relieved to see both you and adantatu2 not enjoying her recent works, makes me feel less alone. I think everyone's just been avoiding commenting when there's nothing good to say -- it's much nicer to post about delights than disappointments. I just hope the new album will have some songs that will give us something good to say, lol.

Where do you hear her cover songs? I'm kinda curious about them now that you're talking them up.

adantatu2 20th February 2015 10:39 PM

^Someone posted some links here before, I only remember Blue bird <3
And I wonder how many songs is she going to include, she has like 6 singles !

To think that this is AHS, I find this sentence is somewhat funny :laugh

Anyway, actually I expect nothing much from her future release. She's now even more popular and gained more attention than before, but... well... I'm not sure if she can continue to release more catchy songs like her debut single, chAngE, Hikari e, or something along that lines. Like, Faith is good, but still less awesome than chAngE for me, her old stuffs are so much better. Even Boku ga Boku de Aru Tame ni and Aozora, I enjoy it more than her recent 6 singles.

Okay, confession's room is over. Some of her covers are on YouTube, let's see if I can find it again, I want both of you to listen and discuss about it. Okay, wait...

What do you think?

adantatu2 24th February 2015 03:05 AM

I listened to all of them while I was working, and I like them, her English isn't the best, but she did a good job, I especially like the covers of J-Pop girls like Ai, Namie, YUI, Utada and Ayu <3

Kacku 24th February 2015 08:47 PM

Thanks so much for finding all the cover songs, mellody! I'm definitely gonna listen to them, but right now it's cramming time, gotta get one exam out of the way.

360° has leaked fully! I didn't even bother to listen to the title track, but LOVE LOVE LOVE was nicer than I remembered, and Delight ~Live Version~ was everything I wanted and more. It took me places. That song is so flawless and miwa can really sing the hell out of it. :heart

mellody 25th February 2015 05:57 AM

Yes, her english is not the best, but for me, it's still better than most of Japanese female solo artist around her era, not to mention she's quite young as well. She's really good in classic songs, I enjoyed her version a lot, and also the male cover songs, she's doing a great job.

Oh no, my exam will start next week, I just remembered it because you said so :laugh

I just downloaded it but forgot to listen to it, let's see...
