That's horrible news. I feel really bad for Utada to be going through that. It's horrific to lose a parent like that...

Someone made a thread for it and I only read the Hikaru Utada part and completely missed, "Mother" and I was ready to have an emotional breakdown.

But damn, that is truly tragic. Must be hard on Utada. RIP to her mom :(

Just saw this on ONTD and couldn't believe it. I hope Hikki's given even a modicum of privacy so she can grieve with her family...though judging by the media presence around her house, I doubt it.

Its extremely insensitive of me to think this, but maybe, I'm sure, maybe a lot of people have thought this as have I, but... there goes Hikki's eventual comeback (not that she was planning on coming back). I'm sure she'll stay on hiatus even longer (with good reason of course). But then again.. maybe it'll compel Hikki to make a song to help her heal from this and then she'll randomly come back for a hot second and release it and we'll all go crazy over how amazing it is... maybe. i didn't know Be my last was for her mom. But i'm 100% sure Arashi no Megami is. And last night i randomly played songs on my iPod and sakura nagashi came by. I got a little teary eyed maybe because of the line "i can't believe i won't see you again, I still haven't said anything."

I figured that she was talking to her mother about a relationship. I didn't know that though, thank you for the info.

Arashi no Megami is about her mother, she confirmed it. She also said without getting much in depth that her mom was a pretty chaotic person. What is no surprised considering the song about her is called "Storm goddess".

People bashing Ayu for writing about her personal life... You guys should take a better look at Hikki's catalogue, her discography is far from being personal-issues-free.

Hi. I feel the need to point out that when news of Utada Hikaru's mother throwing herself off a building to her death comes out, it's probably not the best time to talk shit about her rivals. Juuust saying.

No word from Hikki yet as of this moment. According to this news, Hikki isn't showing up 'till this moment, not even in her mom's funeral service. They were sort of having problems about her mom's cremation because of Hikki's absence. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone. There are rumors that hikki went back to new york. :(
