Birthday (Lyric Video)

Lyric video is so cutesy and sugary, really like it.

That was really adorable. Made me hungry though.

Finally took the time to listen the the album today.

It sucked. Way too any songs sound the same. Really, the entire album felt like ONE LONG SONG.

TeamAyu2004 13th April 2014 02:23 PM

Thos numbers are interesting!
thanks for the update.

I have to say, this album does not get old... LOVE it.

brener 13th April 2014 03:31 PM

Dark Horse still smashing!

Yeah, I didn't like the album as much as Teenage Dream for that reason. Literally the entire second half of the album is one long song, and a lot of the first half felt like rehashes of TD tracks :(. There were still a couple bops I guess, but I don't get why so many people put this album above Teenage Dream.

toLOVE 13th April 2014 03:55 PM

I think the only "new" Katy (in music) is Legendary Lovers & Dark Horse. After listening to the album for the 100th billion time, I can't lie to myself and have to agree that the album is like Teenage Dream part 2, but a little more mature.

That Birthday lyric video have got to be the best lyric video ever! It looks soooo yummy and cute.

I rearry hope/pray that Legendary Lovers will be the 5th single (that song is gonna slay sooo many hoes).

brener 13th April 2014 03:56 PM

I don't think too many people put PRISM above Teenage Dream, it's an 'okay' album, people liked and are buying it. Although I might say that Katy does need to work with another producers and composers on her next album, otherwise she'll become just another generic pop artist.

toLOVE 13th April 2014 03:58 PM

^.... but I do. PRISM is my favorite album by her, follow by One of The Boys, then Teenage Dream.

brener 13th April 2014 04:07 PM

My hopes for Legendary Lovers are big too, I expect a great campaign for that single! :heart

toLOVE 13th April 2014 04:11 PM

Same here. I'm hoping for an epic music video. The wait better be worth it.

NintendoHTF1242 14th April 2014 02:44 AM

lol PRISM > everything else released in 2013 bye Felicias

Teenage Dream succeeded at doing something that's very hard to achieve; it sounded like a cohesive album with a clear theme, while keeping each and every song on the album universally distinct from one another. All songs were unique in their own respect. Every single song kills everything off Prism, and if that's being forward, then I can call out E.T., Hummingbird Heartbeat, and Circle the Drain as definites. Those three tracks alone make Teenage Dream the better album.

Prism doesn't have such clear distinctions, minus the choices for singles so far which I have HATED. Roar is deplorable and don't get me started on Dark Hoarse. Birthday is ok and How We Do got less embarrassing as the song played, but overall the album is just a sad, sad attempt. She over killed it with the "light through the darkness" theme. The songs are too "anthem" ish.

Teenage Dream will stand the test of time, this album didn't even stand the test of first play through.

Thank you for your opinion.

I personally love both albums, but PRISM just a little more; due to personal anecdotes in regards to the lyrics to a few songs (By the Grace of God, Love Me, Ghost, Roar, Choose Your Battles). Dark Horse is my jam tbh. I just have a lot of good things associated with this album. Perry delivered this album into my life at the right time when I needed something like this.

Also, I absolutely dislike "Who Am I Living For?", that song throws off the entire Teenage Dream album for me. But damn Circle the Drain is bomb as hell. Love that song to death.

orangeakira 14th April 2014 08:48 AM

The only song on Teenage Dream I don't like is Not like the movies. It's really really really boring. The instrumental though is sooo pretty. I like to listen to it when I'm trying to calm down, but I can't sit through the full original song more than once. The instrumental kinda reminds me of hikki's Final Distance.

Oh yeah and Dressin' up is kinda weird. I'm relistening to Teenage Dream. The verses are awesome with her smooth vocals and that cool echo-reverb they got going on. Mixed with the prickly guitar strumming (forgot what it's called) and the break-beat it sounds so mystical and enchanting. Then that chorus hits you and the echo effects stop and she's screaming at you over the instruments and the magic is lost. Then the chorus ends and it goes back to that haunting cool echoey sound. It's an awesome song besides the chorus.

I gotta say though that I like Teenage Dream more than this album. I think it's alright, but the only songs I find myself listening to are Dark Horse, Unconditionally, Legendary Lovers, International Smile, and This is how we do.

Tom Punks 14th April 2014 11:58 AM

I felt like Prism was just a watered-down Teenage Dream tbh, I agree with the person above who said she needs to work with someone new for the next album. Prism didn't evolve her sound at all, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in this case it worked against her because the songs weren't as interesting. I thought the production really fell flat on Dark Horse, and that's STILL one of my favorites from the album if only for the lack of anything else to really choose from :(

Walking on Air is my jam though lol

brener 14th April 2014 07:58 PM

thing is, Katy isn't veteran enough like Madonna, Britney or P!nk, to release just an 'okay' album yet ^^
