^ Oh, ok. Honestly the only thing I remembered about CDL was that the stage was in the center and she was wearing that awful wig lol. This sounds like a great stage for the new tour!

Edit: and the clowns. D:

ayuuk 7th May 2011 12:42 PM

If I remember, there are four big screens (one screen on each side of the stage) in CDL 2010~11? I may be wrong, because I was too excited. LOL

And on the 31st it was sooo cool to see Naoya and Ayu performing Dream ON together. :D

kalikagai 7th May 2011 12:43 PM

I strongly believe she's corrected her CDL'10-11 mistakes and this show is much more holistic and strong in terms oh her vocal capability.

Waiting for the setlist and reviews extremely impatiently :(

Edit: CDL'10-11 stage is AWESOME!

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th May 2011 12:49 PM

love the stage!!! :D

zoomzoom 7th May 2011 12:51 PM

I guess when she said "new show from scratch" she was only talking about the setlist? Could've easily taken those lions down. :no

Matthew 7th May 2011 12:52 PM

Reading this thread makes me want to go back pretty bad :( Maybe I should stay out of here not to spoil it for myself in case I do.

loicrop 7th May 2011 12:58 PM

I am going next Saturday in Yokohama. Anybody else from here???

oh no..... forgiveness as opening song? it that ever happens.... i MUST go to the tour >_<

truehappiness 7th May 2011 01:34 PM

I think the show has ended?

The setlist seems to be on mixi~

Bubbly 7th May 2011 01:36 PM

so, any updates on the setlist?

Kashoku 7th May 2011 01:37 PM

setlist: exactly what I expected....extremely disappointing for my entertainment purposes. Bet the Japanese love it, though, and that's what matters. I'm just SO disappointed we won't get to see Love Songs performed life....figures.

truehappiness 7th May 2011 01:38 PM

Reports are that the rumored setlist is completely wrong?

I don't know agghh, I wish I had a mixi account.

freedreamer 7th May 2011 01:39 PM

and how could she not sing do it again omg... =.=
and is the...concert considered short for Ayu standards?? lol...idunno...it feels like its short the way u put it hahaha

ît is just the rumored one

My heart, it breaks. :(

truehappiness 7th May 2011 01:44 PM

The word rumored = unconfirmed basically.

It seems that Ayu sang very stripped down. There were no videos or setpieces... nor storylines or anything like that? Just her singing and the music.

Okay, looks like reports are coming in slowly.

Born To Be...
UNITE!
a song is born
evolution

were performed...

There we no costume changes[?] and Ayu's makeup was very natural for the entire show. There was also... no encore...?

Apparently A Song is born counted as the encore song of the night though.

Bigtop 7th May 2011 01:45 PM

Hmm...maybe is it because to conserve power?

thatstacey 7th May 2011 01:49 PM

In retrospect, we should have known it was fake when there was no Boys & Girls lol. I wonder why no one has been throwing "Life" around yet.

I'm actually really ok with this. Though I find the lack of an MC/encore hard to believe. :/

edit: wow, so "blossom" is the only Love songs song? Maybe she is holding off a majority of the HOTEL Love songs sets for CDL, despite using the merch now?

edit 2 (lol): I'm having trouble picturing stripped down performances for "Bold & Delicious" or "Mirrorcle World." I want to see this!

REALLY!? You've got to be kidding me. There's no song from Love songs!!! (But it does not really make sense to go all-out if we're still in a nation that is borderlined between first-world and third-world after the big earthquake and tsunami...)

truehappiness 7th May 2011 01:51 PM

Apparently the concert was amazing though?

blossom is from Love songs.

auss246 7th May 2011 01:52 PM

If it's the real setlist and it's true that she performed the songs consecutively with no interludes, I feel I'm going to enjoy it. So simple, all awesome songs, it seems like it'd be a really smooth-flowing concert :)

This isn't a Love songs tour...:thud blossom is there though. I really love the set list ^_^

Corvina 7th May 2011 01:53 PM

She didn't speak with the audience in a MC??
That's really hard to believe.
Setlist is ok I guess, but just one single song from Love songs.
Seriously hope now that her voice is fine, cause such a show needs good and strong vocals.

Heavenly 7th May 2011 01:53 PM

I think there will be 2 legs of the show this year again... Hotel Love Songs will take place later, i'm convinced of that.
They can't just put this "show" as the only 2011 TOUR.

thinkingoutloud89 7th May 2011 01:54 PM

I still don't belive that setlist since it is the rumored one and the song choice does not make too much sense for what the show seemed to be..

truehappiness 7th May 2011 01:55 PM

It's kind of weird that it got out early on, but the information comes from mixi.

Aderianu 7th May 2011 01:55 PM

So, this tour is completely different from all that she did before...

isthisLOL? 7th May 2011 01:56 PM

While the setlist is great I doubt anyone can really pull of a great 20 song concert with like absolutely no visuals, not even Ayu...so I hope theres some stuff we dont know yet or there will be a second leg.

Why can't they?

freedreamer 7th May 2011 01:58 PM

I actually like the tracklist!! though i think I need some Love song material but ANYWAYS, the tracklist feels so right with forgiveness really :)

but wow..not ONE costume change...i wonder if she was in MC costume the whole time lol..if she made some small talk..i think the concert would feel like..those hall lives..just that it's scaled in an arena

Bubbly 7th May 2011 01:59 PM

i can barely believe that it was just ayu singing for a couple hours with no MC and I also can't imagine it

truehappiness 7th May 2011 01:59 PM

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th May 2011 01:59 PM

omg... it would be something like Limited TA tour?? :inlove

tokyoxjapanxfan 7th May 2011 02:00 PM

Didn't Leslie Kee's people already say that the opening song was really amazing or whatever?!

If there aren't any theatrics for this concert, I'll be really bummed out. TBH, I don't spend $100 to just see her sing :-\

thinkingoutloud89 7th May 2011 02:00 PM

I wnat this to be confirmed by someone from here who was actually there
no visuals and all would be like the strange hall tour ai otsuka did...but she is more fun on stage...just watching ayu sit and sing is probably boring (or how does a mika nakshima tour look like?)

Aderianu 7th May 2011 02:02 PM

Bold & Delicious with happy yayayaya gagagaga don't suits other songs

Well, I think it's kind of like... how SEVEN DAYS WAR was a "second encore song" or whatever? She didn't change for it, but I guess people want to place it there because it was kind of separate from the setlist?

Matthew 7th May 2011 02:05 PM

That setlist is worth it for forgiveness alone. Really need to go see this now (unless they decide to change the songs mid-run....)

miroro 7th May 2011 02:08 PM

loving the setlist! Forgivenes = :luv2
and loving the idea of this tour:heart

can't wait to see some pics !!

Mai82Go 7th May 2011 02:08 PM

Mmmh, we knew it would be different. But if this is really the setlist. I don't really know, it doesn't sound to exciting. But I love forgiveness! It's the first song that ever gave me goosebumps so if it's really the opening that would be grand. Still I feel so bad for the Love Songs album...maybe Ayu shouldn't release another album and do the Love Songs tour next year? :D

truehappiness 7th May 2011 02:08 PM

I think HOTEL Love songs might end up getting CDL'd.

Also I'm not SURE but it sounds like the songs all had orchestral backing? She did write in ViVi that she had 20+ band members for this tour.

Except, ayu is known for having amazingly entertaining lives, including stages, costumes, props, etc.

Of course I enjoy hearing her sing, but that's not the only reason I go to her concerts.
I normally don't enjoy stripped down concerts, that's just my preference.

Bad Wolf 7th May 2011 02:10 PM

I love the idea of simplicity. The title alone is really what the focus of this concert is: the power of music. It's not about showmanship or stage designs, costumes and the razzle dazzle of the stage -- it's about the songs, and the feelings they inspire inside of you. That's so beautiful.

Quote:

That's really all a concert is, though? If you want crazy stuff you should probably just go to some crappy Johnnys show lol

SunshineSlayer 7th May 2011 02:10 PM

^ It would also explain why she finally went back to her vocal coach. She needs to have great vocals if there aren't going to be any flashy things on the tour.

Wow, what an odd set list......Forgiveness as an opener? I can't decide whether I love this set list or not, right now it just has me kind of scratching my head. I must say "Yay" for finally no Boys and Girls though.

truehappiness 7th May 2011 02:10 PM

Well, the title of the tour is kind of self explanatory now, lol.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th May 2011 02:11 PM

The only thing that would surprise me right now is that she didn't sing Life lol I'm actually really excited for the reviews of this concert!

Corvina 7th May 2011 02:12 PM

For me Ayu hasn't the singing abilities to do such a show. :/
But maybe she surprises me! Didn't she have some lessons with a vocal trainer?

ehm, no. not with the asking price of her tours in an arena with thousands of people. if this was a little venue for a selected audience maybe, but she's a popstar and the visuals are a BIG aspect of it all. you can be in denial about that, but music is definitely not the sole source people come to her shows or buy her albums and whatnot.

no rearrangements? but the band was there?
I have a little trouble imagining the whole scene but if she can pull it off then it may be. if she intends to do that for the complete tour anyone can easily mistake her for a lazy bum in hindsight of all her past tours. it really depends on what's exactly going on on stage and especially with her singing.

truehappiness 7th May 2011 02:14 PM

I guess whatever was being called "arrangements" were interludes.

Misa-chan 7th May 2011 02:14 PM

^ Not a forgiveness fan here, so I'm not too excited about that. :P

But there are indeed many of my favourite songs in there. BLUE BIRD, fairyland, part of Me, Far away, Mirrocle World, Born to Be... and my fav song Moments!!!! Happy with this setlist~ ^^

Just a little disappointed about the lack of "razzle dazzle". For me, that's what sets ayu's lives apart from everyone elses', and to not have that is a little sad, tbh. But I guess it's expected.. Oh well...

Mai82Go 7th May 2011 02:15 PM

As long as the outfit of the night wasn't that HuckleberryFynnxFrodo Outfit I'm ok with no costume changes.

lol I just think that I would die to see her again just singing even, all the props are obviously needed, but it depends on the type of show. I bet she will pull it off this time, whatever it is that she's doing for this concert.

That's the other thing too, we don't know much at all, I guess we better wait before deciding if it is fair to pay 100 dollars to see her "just sing".

mellody 7th May 2011 02:16 PM

Some 2ch posters said that some of the songs is "more orchestrated" and kinda different from original recording, especially for forgiveness.

Bands do it all the time. In fact, every artist from every genre used to do it all the time. If the performance is good, you don't need anything extra.

mi|kshake 7th May 2011 02:17 PM

The setlist is good - nice mix of tunes! Far Away! Forgiveness! I like how it's more simple this time round, the opposite of RnRC. I love her interlude videos and screens but I want to see her prove that she doesn't have to rely on all the props etc (as much as I like them!)

Glad she was seeing a vocal coach - it will be interesting to see how she sounds.

EDIT: And Fairyland! I am so looking forward to seeing clips of this tour!

mi|kshake~

Bad Wolf 7th May 2011 02:17 PM

Oh ayu fans, never stop finding ways to complain about nice things~

People pay a crapton of money to see bands in America that don't do HALF the things Ayu does, and there are very few western artists in general who even try to maintain the same spectacle that Ayu lives accomplish. So what if this tour is stripped down? No one's telling you to go to the shows, and if you bought a ticket, go sell it to someone who can appreciate it.

Quote:

Exactly. Acoustic and stripped down sets are usually considered to be pretty special, given how artists usually perform.

ayumisrael 7th May 2011 02:19 PM

The tracklist is great, the show was probably meant to be modest!

No MC, oh well XD.

I got my trilogy I can't believe it <333

Calico 7th May 2011 02:19 PM

I think I'd be fine if this if I weren't in japan this year and planning to see herr :laugh I'll probably still go, but only if I can get cheap enough seats. I go to her concerts for the escapism, which is the stage, costumes, dances stories, videos, lights, etc set to her amazing music. Plus I'm just disappointed about no Love songs (well, minus blossomXD) because it's seriously one of my fave albums ever.

Like somebody else said I really don't care much ffor stripped down shows, acoustics, etc, but I'm sure Ayu will still bring it. the question is how much I'm willing to pay for it XD (otherwise I might save my money for next time)

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th May 2011 02:21 PM

O M G!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I JUST REALIZED about the trilogy!!! :thud stupid setlist being so cool that that just went over my head :thud:thud

F YES!!!!

truehappiness 7th May 2011 02:22 PM

I don't know what's going on with the "MC" but I did see something about an MC hosted by dancers in a report.

Most of the setlists up have this:
Quote:

衣装着替・MC・アンコール・サンキューメールはありませんでした | There was no costume change / MC / encore / thank you mail
Aaah, I'm a bit delirious, lol.

I'm pretty sure that HOTEL Love songs is going to get realized at some point in time (maybe in its own sort of 7days Special type show?) but for now, this is fine.

Mai82Go 7th May 2011 02:24 PM

I think the main reason people are not too happy with it is not that Ayu is having such a down to earth concert with no theatrics and stuff, but to know there was this other great show in the making that celebrated the great Love Songs Album and had a really cool theme. It is defnitely the reason I feel a bit meh about it. Anyway.....I'll move on. And cling onto the hope that maybe in the October Shows we'll have our Love Songs concert.

thatstacey 7th May 2011 02:25 PM

Kayzu also just tweeted the setlist without an encore. http://ameblo.jp/ayu-soulmate/entry-10884646197.html

Bands usually do that in small venues closer to the audience though. I find concerts with nothing happening to be pretty boring as the vast majority of musicians imo are bad performers, Ayu is the best I've seen but even with her I doubt it's gonna be entertaining for 20 songs straight. I prefer a concert to have like 2-5 completely stripped down songs mixed in or in the encore, so it stays special and doesn't turn boring.

Couldn't agree more.

truehappiness 7th May 2011 02:27 PM

It'll be interesting to see how this works...

I wonder if she'll change songs at every venue since they kinda have the freedom to do that now?

I was wondering WTF "boitore" was on 2ch and I was like "boy's toilet?!" but they were talking about her 'b'oice to-raining, haha.

The reviews I've seen so far were positive for the show~ but I'm a bit worried about wtf her dancers are gonna do during the concert. Will they stay out of the ballads and only be used for upbeat numbers like usual? This time around, she also seems to have the acrobats... but what for?

Mai82Go 7th May 2011 02:29 PM

When you think about it - it's incredibly brave of Ayu to do such a concert where people will concentrate on the music and her voice so much more. Kind of scary.

ayumisrael 7th May 2011 02:29 PM

Yeah, finally ayu gives us a stirpped down.
Just 1 is great! ayu singing with her great voice!! Can't wait for this!!!

And I'm just getting the previous tour's blu-ray this week XDD

thinkingoutloud89 7th May 2011 02:29 PM

Well I like stripped down shows but this one feels kinda of.
First of all I don't think auy can hold such a show with her voice nowdays but I can be proven wrong, so this is the smallest issue to think about.

Other than that I think the song choice is 50/50 hit/miss thing. I love all ayu songs but some songs are there that bore me just be reading they are there and something is miising but I just can't pull my finger onto it (and I begged to get she would never do a MW live again and now this). I wait a few weeks and reports to fully decide on this...may she changes around the setlist very often...could be done for a show like this...

Calico 7th May 2011 02:30 PM

^That would be really interesting. I could go for that :P (It would give them some extras to put on the DVD too)

edit: um...that is in response to truehappiness's post :laugh

TeamAyu2004 7th May 2011 02:30 PM

I think I love the set list... There is just a few tracks on their I could do with out, lol.

But im not too sure if I would want to fly all the way over there for this concert, since much is not happening... I love her music and would go for this cconcert if I was already there, but because of all my personaql things going on I dont know if I want to go just for this concert...

I hope, like some of said, she will do another one of her 7 day final things for hotel love songs or something..l. or her "2nd" leg of the trip will be different! (add more dates ayumi!!)

yup, that's a nice way to do it. koda kumi had something like this in her Kingdom (?) tour where she sat down with a girl selected from the crowd on a wonderland swing and sang 3 or so songs only with acoustic guitar backing. it's a nice breather without abandoning the whole common show circus.

It'll be interesting to see how this works...

I wonder if she'll change songs at every venue since they kinda have the freedom to do that now?

I was wondering WTF "boitore" was on 2ch and I was like "boy's toilet?!" but they were talking about her 'b'oice to-raining, haha.

The reviews I've seen so far were positive for the show~

That is what I think they will do from now on, different cities, different arenas, different popular ayu-songs. It would be pretty cool!

....

Chisa [we knew about this due to her knee injury], Kayanocchi, Subaru, and 2-YAN were not present at the concert. it seems?

Were they the dancers that were let go?! Looking at Subaru's blog, he talks about graduating... looks like he's gone from the troupe. Oh dear.

Also, Born To Be... is when they shot the silver streamers that they usually do for the 'last song' of the show.

Yeah, and it's either a hit or miss.
And it's different to do a whole show like that, especiallly with so much songs.

she probably left all the Love Songs songs off to not make it seem like a profit show for the album...altough i kinda feel like this is the album that fits the occasion the most XD

Kayanocchi? :( And Subaru?? :(:(

Glad I got to see them last year then :cry

Same goes for Chisa.

Actually, I think the setlist fits well with concert's title. And I like it! Omg forgiveness :luv2.
Maybe she's keeping all of Love songs songs, for CDL or later on. Like another RnRC 7 Days concert. As many others said lol.

zellyx 7th May 2011 03:00 PM

She's holding this show with no props or costume changes?? WOAH, I actually like this idea for the situation. People will be able to connect with her better.
I want to see the simple outfit!
She Was working on her voice a TON with her old voice coach... I get it now... :)
Actually I like the setlist. Most songs are classics though, that surprised me.

MONOCHROME. the TRILOGY. B&D. Forgiveness. :heart

No subaru anymore T~T

majrakun 7th May 2011 03:06 PM

KAYANOCCHI? THE KAYANOCCHI? Oh no. ;___; And Subaru too. No wonder they don't have the MC anymore. I wonder if it was directly affected by the tsunami or something, wonder if they're coming back for the next tour. Or something. This feels so different.

terra 7th May 2011 03:08 PM

Subaru and Kayanocchi graduated!? I'm gonna miss them :weep

The whole strip down concert is good actually, but I didn't imagine she'll take it to an Arena Tour level. I always want her to perform like this but more like a special occasion concert rather than a whole tour, oh well :P

Maybe she keeps the Love songs for another live...maybe for CDL?

Ayu mentioned in a blog entry that (some?!) members that we see leave will not be coming back.

Subaru is for sure gone for good though... and there's someone else who graduated as well.

majrakun 7th May 2011 03:25 PM

And here I was, just a few days ago watched his silly antics on AT10's MC... guargh.

MissElin_ 7th May 2011 03:25 PM

I have a positive feeling about this concert. I love how they did something simple and nice, and especially not a weird HLS-PoM mish-mash. Since Ayu herself said that HLS will be performed in the future I'm sure it will happen somewhere during the autumn or CDL.

Booooh. Subaru and Kayanocchi! :(((( Sad panda. But happy to see the others left!

SURREAL__RAINBOW 7th May 2011 03:35 PM
