They're the most prosperous entertainment agency in South Korea and they can't hire one fluent English speaker to check their lyrics before they are made public.

^ Yeah well, you'll have to get used to this if you want to listen to Asian music (not only Korean music, Japan and China do it too!).

I sometimes find it extremely annoying too, but when the rest of the song is good, then I always try not to let it bother me!

I know, I've endured quite enough of it in J-Rock when I was into the genre, but it's a different matter with K-Pop. English tends to blend into the lyrics and sometimes even manages to sound Japanese; K-Pop is much more commercial, so I would have expected SM Entertainment to be more attentive. It irks me, because they strive for perfection with everything else but don't seem to care as much about grammatical errors. They should have had that part of the song in Latin if they were going to let a mistake slide.

I'm hoping there's a composer among them. SM should give their trainees an opportunity to study composition. I'm sure there are some hidden talents out there and there's a bigger chance of their surfacing if they are nudged.

Uh, I don't even want to imagine what kind of mistakes they would have made in Latin. I study Latin and this language is very dear to me, so yeah...! :laugh

Sometimes SM takes care of the English lyrics, but most of the time the Grammar is not correct or the English lyrics make no sense at all ("Mr. Simple" by Super Junior comes to my mind! - "Because I naughty, naughty!" :D).

I love MAMA it's really edgy :yes.

Really? I've only recently started and I study in my free time. It's so strange to come across someone who appreciates it, and on a forum at that! :laugh It's a beautiful language, and with the orchestra, and the atmosphere the song sets, I would have imagined they'd go for Latin, or some other romance language. French perhaps? English and classical music are not my favourite blend.

Jup, I LOVE this language! :heart It's really interesting and it's kind of cool when you can read writers like Ovid and Homer in Latin! :yes
And I also really love listening to Gregorian chorals and this music makes me appreciate Latin even more! :smitten

Yes, I've also already realised that a lot of artists nowadays are experimenting with this "dead language" (Latin is actually very much alive, in my opinion, because it provides the basis for so many other languages!), but I also think it's more because of shock value and not because the songwriters appreciate Latin so much! But who knows...! :D
