The last time she tried to immerse in rock, we got sunrise, sunset, SLT, the meaning of LOVE...
It's little funny because these song are all but rock XD

She can sing SURREAL/EVOLUTION/UNITE/ENDLESS SORROW/NEVER EVER/Progress/Mircrophone/talkin to myself/decision/Is this love/even a qong for XX & hanabi ep II etc... all these songs are popular and have rock influence !

truehappiness 9th September 2012 11:02 PM

Well, you remember the 'circus' aspect of that title too, right? Plus she had singles in the way so it's not like that album was going to be 100% rock.

Well, when u title ur album "Rock n Roll Circus", you put it under the impression it will be a mix between rock and circus, not half/half... And she herself said on a interview at the time that she soul is so filled with rock, everything she sings turns into rock, or something like that. :P

Also, japanese are less strict about mixing musical genres than we are on the west... If she enters the stage with a rock-chic attitude, as she almost always does, she can get way singing almost anything from her repertoire.

Still, I'm not expecting obscure tracks... maybe we will have one or two surprise tracks, but I bet most of it will be hits + stuff she is promoting this year...

In fact, the music videos filmed in the UK are cold, and seem to possess a deep, meaningful worldview. The album title brings all the tracks to a higher level, and links them to AYU.

“Traditional Japanese, ethnic, European… With all these different sounds mixed together, it’s like a circus. And when I sing, they become rock. Rock is a very wide genre, and can include lots of different types of songs, but when I sing, it becomes rock. For example, even if I dress up in a girly manner like today and sing a ballad, rock will still be rock. And because rock exists in my soul, it will be reflected in whatever I do. The new album’s title “Rock’n'Roll Circus” reflects something interesting, scary, sad, weird, and a whole bunch of others mixed together. And that is what I think Rock&Roll is about.”
-translation by Misa-chan

I thought she explained it pretty well. "Weird and a whole bunch of other things mixed together" especially for the tracks that may not fit under the 'rock' title.

For most of her tracks that are not 'super sweet' or a 'soft ballad', they do kind of end up becoming rockish in a way. Would be very interesting to hear a rockish version of Sunrise though. (She needs to perform Ladies Night ~another night~ already.)

Andrenekoi 9th September 2012 11:37 PM

^Even some of her super sweet tracks can be pretty rockish... STEP you easily comes to mind. ^^

truehappiness 9th September 2012 11:46 PM

Well, STEP you isn't really in the vein of 'super sweet' imo... at least the performances I'm thinking of. It can veer into that weird nasal territory though.

I'm thinking more Thank U/EnergizE and the like that usually make her nasal voice come out.

Andrenekoi 10th September 2012 12:07 AM

EnergizE still have a good amount of 50s rock influence :P

relmy 10th September 2012 12:59 AM

I love (well, hate) this really weird notion Ayu has that filming something in London makes it edgy, cool and rock... it seems like she had this preconception in her mind with with all the London songs on RnRC & PQ. Combined with those tutu and leather outfits, it's such a tourist shop Primark Union Jack tack look. Tacky I'm-so-cool-because-I-wear-****-from-Camden-market style... but in Hackney because it's up and coming and just lol at Ayu wearing that look in Hackney and Ministry.

It's just... funny. Really funny.

That is all I have to say about Ayu's recent rock adventures.

truehappiness 10th September 2012 01:09 AM

I think that's probably more her location scouts' problem than anything. She does have a feeling about London though that it isn't as 'bright' as NY/Hawaii/LA which I can kind of understand.

brener 10th September 2012 01:17 AM

now this was unexpected '-'

Kazeyomi 10th September 2012 01:38 AM

This is so unexpected, but at the same time I'm looking forward to it :D.
I know people would hate me for this but I wish she will perform Humming 7/4 lol. It's so upbeat and rockish, much more than other MY STORY pop-rock songs as GAME and About You imo. Don't know why people hate it so much :laugh.

Andrenekoi 10th September 2012 02:30 AM

^ I hate it so much, but I agree she should sing it...

SURREAL__RAINBOW 10th September 2012 04:09 AM

omg just realized that this is in a week :thud

clover_bali 10th September 2012 04:45 AM

i hope ayu will sing 'Return Road' <3 very rockish~ *giggle

YUKARI 10th September 2012 06:20 AM

I bet she'll sing HANABI ~ep 2~ again

yoshino 10th September 2012 07:43 AM

oh great!! Hope Ayu will dressed really rockish and sing songs from RnRC. :)

chikocchi 10th September 2012 08:37 AM

I hope we don't have Timmy running around on stage with his pink hair and tutu ;_;

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 10th September 2012 09:49 AM

^ me too.
it honestly should just be her and the band -no props, no dancers.
Maybe a costume change or two, but nothing too over the top.

I hope she sings 1LOVE <3

Zeke. 10th September 2012 09:07 PM

I would love a heavier version of evolution. Slow down the tempo, especially for the chorus. evolution with the feel of talkin' 2 myself would be sick as Hell!

MeyChan 11th September 2012 01:23 AM

Please Return Road!!! T-T please, please!!

pheonixflame15 11th September 2012 02:04 AM

Hoping for rock songs that she hasn't sung in awhile:

1) End of the World
2) talkin' 2 myself
3) alterna
4) ourselves
5) Rule

COME ON!!!!

SURREAL__RAINBOW 11th September 2012 02:33 AM

Return Road would be spot on :yes

I would love M rock version like in PoM! :love

I've got the feeling that she'll have a nice mix of rock songs and ballads, perhaps throw evolution in there, although I would prefer SURREAL :innocent

I love that song, too! I love it when she preforms it, it's so fun! I hope she closes with it at Kishidan!

MeyChan 11th September 2012 11:22 AM

I want her to perfom humming 7/4 too!!
I wanna jump in front of my computer singing along with her :P

Even if it had the fast chorus, if it were heavier that'd be so damn awesome...
i think its one of the songs that would benefit off a heavier arrangement

Pieces_of_SEVEN 12th September 2012 02:14 AM

Time is passing...I'd love a new rock single coupled with a JEWEL-type ballad.

TeamAyu2004 12th September 2012 02:23 AM

hopefully we can hear a new song!

clover_bali 12th September 2012 04:07 AM

whatever about song... i hope ayu can make her BEST performance, BEST concept, BEST costume, (and BEST voice?) :love

Pieces_of_SEVEN 12th September 2012 04:24 AM

Doubt we'll hear a new song, but I'd love Return Road, reminds me, GAME, etc.

TeamAyu2004 12th September 2012 04:28 AM

^ the game comes out in 2 months... when did we get the next song for ToX?

Pieces_of_SEVEN 12th September 2012 04:43 AM

^FIVE released on 2011.8.31
ToX released on 2011.9.8

TeamAyu2004 12th September 2012 05:04 AM

So a week for the real release, but I thought we heard it a lot earlier than that?

Pieces_of_SEVEN 12th September 2012 05:55 AM

^I thought it was a TV program airing?

TeamAyu2004 12th September 2012 06:14 AM

^ i really dont remember, lol.
I wanna say somewhere between 2-3 weeks before the game we got the opening and it had the song with it.

SunshineSlayer 12th September 2012 10:45 AM

So I've recently made friends here in Japan with a huge Ayu fan. He is a japanese man and has been to every one of her tours since her first one in 2000. We were talking about this Kishidan show and the talk we had really showed the differences in musical perception between Japanese and western fans.

I was telling him that I was really excited for this show because it would probably be an all ROCK setlist. And he was like "Yeah, yeah! I really want to hear Last Angel!!" :thud I would never imagine classifying Last Angel as a rock song, lol.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 12th September 2012 10:47 AM

Maybe Last Angel because of the feeling it has, the lyrics, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if she performed that song :yes It would fit I guess.

And she performed it between Microphone and about you before, maybe they just see it as a rock song now? XD

That definition of Rock would make much sense with the way Ayumi talked about RnRC, you know, the "I sing the song with a feeling in mind and so it's transformed into rock". The subject matter and desperation of Last Angel is truly powerful, so for that I guess it would fit.

Yea, a heavier version of evolution would be awesome!
I'm really interested to see how the setlist turns out. Just because this is a rock festival doesn't mean that she'll only perform her songs that fall under the 'rock' genre, there's still the possibility that she could do different, more rockish arrangements for some of her other songs; like M from Power of Music, or even Fly High from the tv version of the TA Live Tour seems slightly more rockish than the original version of the song (but maybe I'm the only one who thinks that lol).
In any case it'll be really interesting to see what she comes up with. I really hope it wont just be a kind of rehash of Hotel Love Songs and this year's a-nation.

TeamAyu2004 12th September 2012 06:32 PM

last angel could be considered rockish... i think more of a heavy dance beat though.

Jester 12th September 2012 07:48 PM

I would love to see her sings About You like this again

Cornie 13th September 2012 09:23 AM

^Yes, I'm too:)

ExodusUK 13th September 2012 10:02 AM

pretty sure this isn't broadcasted or filmed anyway so it doesn't matter what she sings lulz

mizuki-7 13th September 2012 11:06 AM

It will be broadcasted in october on fuji TV next ! I've seen this on Twitter but I can't find anymore...

Jester 13th September 2012 11:16 AM

Isn't someone here said it will be on DVD too?

freedreamer 13th September 2012 11:40 AM

Aderianu 17th September 2012 10:10 AM

Interesting stage. I never saw Ayu on something like this

Cornie 17th September 2012 10:10 AM

I hope Ayu will have a super rockish outfit, and we get some picture..

truehappiness 17th September 2012 10:16 AM

We'll definitely get official photos from news reports tomorrow.

Not sure if we'll get a setlist tonight though since only Momoiro Clover's is out.

http://blog.livedoor.jp/momoclomatom.../17492445.html

A 3 hour or so digest of each day's show may be aired on Fuji TV NEXT in October. Ayu is the "BIG SURPRISE" from day 2.

ExodusUK 17th September 2012 10:31 AM

I think we'll get photos today because of course everyone is free to take photos at a festival, so I imagine people will be tweeting photos and such..

truehappiness 17th September 2012 10:41 AM

VAMPS and Ayu are up next! TMR just finished up.

C+R+E+AYUMI 17th September 2012 10:50 AM

can't wait to know which songs she performed

truehappiness 17th September 2012 10:58 AM

Looks like VAMPS performed Glamorous Sky? (I think it was a song that Hyde made for Mika Nakashima)

njanjayrp 17th September 2012 11:11 AM

I don't think she did. Glad she's doing it though.

You can roughly make out the Ayu A here!

Someone said the first song is "oh yeah"... evolution for the first track? There are also 40 people on stage?
https://twitter.com/biftech/status/247636406145515520

Another report says it's in the middle of a hit song medley.
https://twitter.com/wakame625/status/247637075745189888

Looks like it was indeed evolution.
https://twitter.com/MamikoHashimoto/...36723968921600

Ayu opening in 学ラン seems to be tweeted a lot as well. Seems like she's wearing a school uniform like how Kishidan wears? 学ラン = the male school uniform btw. She has short shorts with this uniform though, haha.

https://twitter.com/biftech/status/247642691700133889

It was also mentioned that she has a "WE LOVE KISHIDAN" shirt on.

ExodusUK 17th September 2012 12:36 PM

July 1st now I think

Cornie 17th September 2012 12:40 PM

the setlist is like a-nation? ohh i wanted some rock song, not summer song..

truehappiness 17th September 2012 12:48 PM

01. evolution
02. SURREAL
03. HANABI
04, HANABI ~episode II~
05. Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~
06. You & Me

Dissapointed with the tracklist... :grumpy

ExodusUK 17th September 2012 12:53 PM

Good and appropriate setlist. I don't know why people think -
festival = rock

If you're going to watch Ayu's set at a festival you're gonna expect and want to listen to her well known songs not an album track from GUILTY or Still Alone . This is not Team Ayu festival tour 2012.
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/...4/facepalm.jpg

truehappiness 17th September 2012 12:53 PM

https://twitter.com/ryotabb

Yeah, I think it's confirmed.

Not too surprising considering she was just in LA last week and had a-nation just a while ago.

As for the setlist and stuff... it was probably assumed to be a bit heavier since the lineup was very edgy and the show was called "Rock'n'Roll Olympic".

SunshineSlayer 17th September 2012 12:53 PM

^ If that's the setlist, then I'm glad I didn't go. This was Ayu's chance to do a different type of show and appeal to a different audience.

Mai82Go 17th September 2012 12:58 PM

I'm disappointed. I really thought Ayu would do something different for once. (Rock Songs, just the band and her) But this is same old, same old. She could have done another a-nation date, that wouldn't have been any different. :(

SURREAL__RAINBOW 17th September 2012 01:05 PM

lol don't be disappointed, it wasn't going to be something life changing or career-changing :shrug

The setlist seems like a good way to keep promoting her ASB, so whatever really. I just hope her vocals were good.

EDIT: And she never said anything so, people were just assuming that she was going to perform rock songs, it's not her fault :shrug

AyuGAME 17th September 2012 01:05 PM

Almost the same setlist like a-nation

hoping more for her rockish song..but looks like she still using summery theme

Exactly, omg she performs random fan pleasing songs at Countdown live because that's the appropriate audience. IDK why people were hoping was going to go on stage and sing a bunch of songs that 90% of the audience wouldn't know.

I mean look at Kishidan themselves

They're not exactly dir en grey

Mai82Go 17th September 2012 01:12 PM

Well, Ayu also has released more rockish songs as singles so it's not like people wanted her to sing only obscurish album tracks. And I also believe that putting You & Me in there would also be acceptable since she is obviously still thinks she is promoting ASB. But the rest? Is another a-nation. Well, that's it. No use crying over it. What's done is done.

relmy 17th September 2012 01:20 PM

I'm really not surprised, and didn't expect anything different.

Why would she perform songs nobody knows outside of her fanbase at a festival that isn't targetted at fans?

It would be an awful idea, she has to play songs that the crowd know.

truehappiness 17th September 2012 01:23 PM

I don't think people were expecting obscure album tracks exactly (well.... some were) but just... overall a heavier setlist compared to what she would normally do at a-nation.

mizuki-7 17th September 2012 01:30 PM

Besides You & me & Sunrise~LOVE is ALL~ all the other songs have more or less a rock influence ! What did you expect this is not because the show is called rock n roll that all songs interpreted must be dark ! I don't think Momoiro Clover Z is a rock band !
People always complaining ...

YUKARI 17th September 2012 01:35 PM

she continues to promote asb though summer is over now :laugh and where's BRILLANTE? XD

Aderianu 17th September 2012 01:35 PM

Rule, talkin'2 myself, desicion - single
A Song for XX - well known song
Microphone - her promo for RnRC
m.... monochrome, Last Angel, NEVER EVER, Because of You
