Honestly?

Since they are both filmed in LA, it is EXTREMELY LIKELY they are connected PVs.

AyumiAi 24th October 2013 06:47 AM

yes please Y____Y I want different concepts!! gah i miss those days.... like back in Moon/blossom or Crossroad or L and sweet days XD

GIVE ME SOME PV DIVERSITY

hayasaki 24th October 2013 07:06 AM

I guess its normal. A forum won't be strong and interactive if everyone's gonna agree. LOL Anyway, this single (which i thought to be fake) ended up true and i suprizingly liked it!

And no please, for the love of God don't do any love trilogy or me-and-my-boyfriend/husband PV just no :no

Yeah, if the boyfriend is in these PVs, people will REVOLT.

Um, rude much?

There are these things called studios that they can use. Its not like they're forced to shoot outside.

Is that rude...? I was just pointing out that it is very likely that we'll get connected PVs. It's not guaranteed though so please don't think I was trying to respond to you specifically, it just so happened that you posted just before me. I actually didn't even know you posted until I saw your reply...

I'm just saying odds are that she will film outdoors if she does them in LA. She rarely does stuff in studios in LA unless you count like that bit in do it again and a few other PVs. (and overseas in general, Sexy little things/Microphone as a whole)

A ride through her overseas PVs as far as I can recall:
appears - on the rooftops of New York
Dearest (plus acoustic piano version) - in fields and 'on location' areas in LA
INSPIRE - deserts around LA
fairyland - various spots around Hawaii + Waimea Falls in Hawaii
Bold & Delicious / Pride - streets of New York
BLUE BIRD - beaches and such in Guam
glitter/fated - all over Hong Kong
Mirrorcle World - all over Paris
GREEN - studio lot in Shanghai (Days as well?)
NEXT LEVEL / Curtain call - Roads + studio lot in Los Angeles
Microphone / Sexy little things - Studio / certain spot in London
Virgin Road / Sweet Season - on location in LA
Love song / Last angel - studio lot in LA
do it again - War of the Worlds lot in LA
Dream ON - studio lot in LA
progress - shots were done from Japan to LA, Ayu was greenscreened in
Shake It♥ / NaNaNa - on location in London
Return Road - power plant in London
You & Me - all over Guam
snowy kiss / Wake me up - Hawaii
Sweet scar - On location in LA (at her home?)

Also note that in the last 3 years, the amount of connected PVs skyrocketed.

AyUmIXx 24th October 2013 08:28 AM

i just hope we'll get great PVs, unlike the random love story.. after 3 years for a new single, please ayu! do something creative. her PVs lately are very random and not creative.

The love stories are the main reason for that. I think if she avoids that, we'll be fine. All of the connected PVs were pretty unnecessary from Love songs onward.

i never would expect her to have a song like this, but it's perfect. i love it. *_*!!

Respectfully, you're off on "Sweet scar", "Wake me up" and "snowy kiss". "Wake me up" and "snowy kiss" were both in Hawaii (and mostly LA). Meanwhile, "Sweet scar" was recorded in a studio (if I'm not mistaken). You can see the behind the scenes pics on Deji Deji and the making of clips on all three. o_o;;

I was not too active when those were filmed, so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the corrections! snowy kiss and Wake me up in LA? I thought they were mainly in Guam since You & Me was filmed there, but I guess they chose Hawaii for that shoot. Off to correct it!

I know that Sweet scar was in LA in a home. I don't think it was a studio though... was it?

brener 24th October 2013 09:05 AM

@truehappiness

wasn't Mirrorcle World actually shot in Paris? O_O We have Eifel Tower on that pv.

No problem. :) In "snowy kiss", parts of it was filmed in Guam to continue the storyline from You and Me. But, on the other hand, I believe you can see the backdrop of LA when ayu is sitting on the convertible (I may be mistaken, though). But yeah, "Wake me up" was in Hawaii. Although, for "Sweet scar", it may APPEAR that way, but it was filmed in a studio (judging from the behind the scenes pictures). Again, I could be mistaken and I may have to dig up the Deji Deji Diary pics. ^^;;

Here are the Deji Deji Diary pictures!

I don't really know if they went back to Guam exactly, but they probably just chose a very similar area in Hawaii, haha~ I need to store this in my head.

And as for Mirrrorcle, apparently it is both Venice AND Paris? I get confused with that era because she went to both places for the Panasonic CM and stuff and slip up on details, oops.

Looks like she shot a CM for Panasonic in Venice and then flew to Paris to shot Mirrorcle World PV.

Got the info from this old thread.

http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70019

But according to Wikipedia we DO have Venice in that PV too.

"The PV for Mirrorcle World starts off in Paris. Ayumi (dressed in a trench coat) walks near the Eiffel Tower as she notices that men clad in black are following her. She flees from them and goes to Venice (where she is clad in a large, red, Spanish ballgown). The men find her and Ayumi runs away from them again, leaving a handkerchief. Ayumi goes back to Paris and she is finally cornered by the men inside a telephone booth (this time, she is clad in a white evening gown). A car arrives and the men disperse. Ayumi steps inside the car before giving a smile to the camera. The video is also inter-cut with scenes of Ayumi singing in lingerie and headshots of Ayumi wearing furry nails and lash extensions."

I see... I just wish she went to one place during that era so I wouldn't get mixed up! AGH, haha.

brener 24th October 2013 09:20 AM

yeah, i just read on wikipedia that scenes were also shot in Venice. is good to know, because i always thought it was entirely shot in Paris.

Hey, looks like that you edited your post but you were also right, she DID shot in both places (Venice and Paris) '-' dunno if you read my last post.

truehappiness 24th October 2013 09:35 AM

Oh, I saw that as well, but I'm unsure about Wikipedia's info at times. I'll just stay safe and say Paris, haha.

The views are good! Already 101.371. This is good for Ayu's standards and probably for a Japanese artist (except AKB48 and the most relevant at the moment).
Namie's Ballerina was uploaded 3 weeks ago and it reached 123.816 views so I think that Ayu's are already good!

I don't really think of this as a summerish song tbh And I could feel some really slight winter vibes from it, especially the piano (or whatever it is) sounds in the verses :D This doen't make much sense, does it? xD

But I actually think this could work both for summer and winter...

brener 24th October 2013 12:37 PM

it will be summer here in the southern hemisphere hahaha and well, it's not like the world has to stop listening to upbeat songs on winter time '-' this song can completely fit in.

tokyoxjapanxfan 24th October 2013 12:42 PM

I don't know what to expect about the PVs.
But, somehow, I feel that Merry-go-round PV will be better.

marty 24th October 2013 01:57 PM

Gosh, with Feel the love they can really put up an amazing PV... So much potential, so many possibilties! This dreamy feeling in the verses, and the supercute chorus... Ahhhh- can't wait for it!!
I'm so happy so many people is listening to the preview on Youtube... I want Japan to love this so badly.

Refix 24th October 2013 04:07 PM

Hmm... not so happy with the song. Then again, I don't have a great expectation about the song.

Tony G 25th October 2013 03:26 AM

The arrangement is very cheesy, but the song is actually not too bad. Very catchy melody. It doesn't really sound *that* dated either - sure there's some 90s dance influence but it still sounds modern. I love the instrumental section before the song fades.

Far from her best material, but more interesting than anything on LOVE again.

This song coming out in winter is possibly the most irrelevant consideration for liking/disliking a song. I'm glad she's not releasing a cookie-cutter winter ballad, although the 2nd song could exactly be that.

truehappiness 25th October 2013 03:28 AM

Kome tweeted that they're both were both dance tracks, I believe. Feel the love gets the 'uplifting tune' description and Merry-go-round is apparently 'dancefloor' material?

I do agree that it's a lot more interesting than what was on LOVE again, since she treaded on genres she usually tends to dabble in for that whole album.

Tony G 25th October 2013 07:53 AM

Wow, two dance tracks - what gives? Has she left her rock days behind for good? I hope not. I like that she's dabbling in dance and electronic music but I would have preferred a slightly more experimental or less-pop edge if she continues to create tracks like this.

Perhaps merry-go-round is more in an electropop style similar to Sparkle or Sunrise?

I don't think so, she's probably just rocked out or something for 2013.

Merry-go-round is apparently more dancefloor/club-ready than Feel the love which is more 'uplifting trance' imo. So it could be a bit heavier.

If she does another single, I think it might end up like this...
2 dance single tracks (December)
2 ballad single tracks (Feb/Mar/Apr)
Rockish stuff like Microphone on the album (Summer?)

The name wouldn't be bad actually, even though she should stay away from love titles lol, but it's probably hard if she has a new love in her life and she brings herself in music.

Btw I had a thought that Feel the love is not really outdated (not in japan at least), I mean look at AKB48's up lifting songs. Feel the love has some western arrangement but it was built to fit jpop rather than sound like a western song, comparing to other artists which have more western styles in their music. It was also smart to do it more friendly to Japanese audience, not that necessarily it will be a hit, but it might click more. Maybe that's why Merry-go-round is the 2nd a-side, it might be more western (and that Japanese showed they can like this stuff too). We will see how Merry-go-round sounds and how things will procceed. Not the the single will be a peak bringer but it might be cool for some japanese casuals.

Btw I'm not sure but double a-side ballad single would probably work better for the time of the release but ayu wants to try it with up beat songs, that's admired =)

Majutsu 26th October 2013 01:18 AM

I like the song and the video a lot. I was surprised to hear about this on the avex site after such a lull. Ayu is very cute in the PV and the song is very upbeat; I was in a happier mood upon hearing it. Really, my only wish is that the PV was more than a photo montage, but I can't wait for the long version!

You don't want to see my Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~ plays. It's somewhere in the thousand(s).

How do you guys do that? :D I think the highest play count in my itunes is around 40~something.

I really don't like the preview. To me, it's just almost everything a song shouldn't be: repetitive, obnoxious and with no real content lyric-wise. It is catchy though, I'll give it that. Not a fan!

I use it as browsing/chatting BGM. It's how I kind of just left the fairyland BGM on repeat when it was on the official site and we had the silhouette before the single came out. The Japanese lyrics seem to be Ayu's usual lyrics and aren't as vague/bland as the You & Me lyrics. The chorus however is lacking in content I suppose... it's only slightly more than the la la la chorus in Thank U, but that song is also one of my jams.

kotora 26th October 2013 02:10 PM

I love the beginning of the song when I just listen it

Fee the law, Fee the law,
You & ME, you & Me
We can feel the rub tonight

Fee the law, fee the law,
We can dance all night
Fee the law, fee the law,
We can dance all night

Beauty4123 26th October 2013 08:25 PM

"Feel the love" is so amazing! i can't stop listening to it & it's only the short version, lol. i really can't wait to listen to the full song. :)

Neko★munication 26th October 2013 09:01 PM

Idk, I really like the lyrics of the last verse:

Quote:

Though I don’t say “I told you so”
Isn’t it time to cultivate a discerning eye?
I hear about it so much, but in reality
What is true love?

Is there anyone who hasn’t gone astray?
Because we still have memories as records of our past
(Translated by Misa-chan! :yes)

It just seems... so relevant to current Ayu. It feels self-aware and somewhat introspective. I like it~

truehappiness 26th October 2013 09:16 PM

Yeah, the Japanese lyrics are fine imo. The English lyrics are extremely shallow but whatever, we can dance all night.

Komuro only did the composition. DJ Hello Kitty handled production. I wonder if this means that Ayu's usual arrangers did not get their hands on it. (tasuku, CMJK, Yuta Nakano)

Yes I know that komuro only did the composition. But I hope armin van buuren or ferry coersten (connected) working with her and handle the composition, arrangement etc. I hope yay next album wI'll be overpowers part II in a good way

For me, feel the love is a grest song, much better than you and me. But not strong as a single, that's why I hope merry-go round much better than feel the love.

And yes I still and will buy this CD single, I really want to support her.

I'm sorry, my autotext ruin my comments above:
Yay next= the next
Overpower= loveppears part II

truehappiness 27th October 2013 01:16 AM

Yeah, it's exciting to know we have at least 3 songs coming in the next few months from Ayu and we can probably look forward to an album in early/mid 2014~

Unfortunately I second this...

ayu-michan 27th October 2013 02:40 AM

Wow I kept listening to this song all day, it literally sounds like a full song to me now. Totally forgot the fact that it's a short ver. lol
I can't wait for the full ver.!

AyUmIXx 27th October 2013 06:22 AM

i hope for a new album!
or another mini album, ala memorial address

TheRainbow 27th October 2013 06:38 AM

Liking it a lot more than I thought I would LOL.

PURIN 27th October 2013 06:37 PM

honestly cant stand anything composed by TK, but im super duper excited for merry go round, my dream came true !!! MFLO AND AYU!!!

jbrat2219 27th October 2013 08:08 PM

Am I the only one who actually loves everything TK composed for ayu? He could compose all of her music from now til the end of time, I wouldn't complain.

I would! We need more Timmy!

emi♡ 27th October 2013 09:31 PM

TK is an awful composer.

Maybe he was good for the disgusting 90s music Japan had before Ayu came in and slayed...but. Someone needs to tell him to come into the modern era where things are polished and sound professional.

And where is the mflo song. I swear. Why did they release this one so early?

jbrat2219 27th October 2013 09:35 PM

I thought that was the arranger's job though?

truehappiness 27th October 2013 09:39 PM

That -is- the arranger's job. Komuro really isn't at fault at all. His work on Love songs was fantastic and he arranged like one song out of the 9 or 10 he did for it. His arrangement for crossroad was not at all what we usually get from him (90's gar-bahge) so that was nice. The reason why Feel the love probably sounds so unlike Ayu is because it's DJ Hello Kitty's first production job. I wonder if they had them do the arrangement too since it doesn't feel like tasuku, CMJK, or Yuta. They seem to have started using that "sound production" thing that usually just means arranger or composer/arranger in the states.

-shrugs-

Composers just provide the melodies and such. With Ayu though, her team probably collaborates more than most. (aka Yuta probably asks tasuku or whatever to do certain things if he can compared to when she used Tell me why and they probably NEVER spoke to the original composers)

Impatience is so not fun. Things come when they come, plus we know that Ayu said Merry-go-round is coming soon so I'm just going to wait until it pops up on YouTube.

emi♡ 27th October 2013 11:39 PM

I don't think this composition is good or sounds professional or polished at all. Which is what I meant. Not even going to touch that arrangement. Already said enough.

Anyways, it's like I was waiting for the leak of the m-flo song for the past few days like it was bound to come out really soon, and I totally forgot that this single doesn't come out until Christmas :laugh

But if she said we'll hear it soon, that's nice.

henrique 28th October 2013 12:46 AM

People seem to hate TK and 90' jpops.....Globe, TRF, Kahala Tomomi love all! Love songs its a masterpiece..... i dont understand.

ExodusUK 28th October 2013 12:48 AM

TK is a musical god. I'd blame Ayu or the arranger before I point fingers at TK.

Ayumiko 28th October 2013 01:08 AM

Really don't like the preview at all...the English lyrics and the music. I was so excited to hear a new single coming. :( Hopefully Pray will not disappoint

pimenta 28th October 2013 01:00 PM

I usually love TK's compositions, I think the main problem with this song is the arrangement and DJ Hello Kitty... But then again, as it's DJ Hello Kitty's first job I guess we shouldn't expect anything better than... well, that LOL
I still like it though, because it's so catchy, but I won't deny it could be better arranged...

Taishaku 28th October 2013 04:54 PM

I may be in the minority but I can actually Feel the love for this song!
She needs to stick to this and give the rock stuff a little break. :)

SURREAL__RAINBOW 28th October 2013 04:54 PM

It's doing pretty good on Youtube! Keep watching ;D

tokyoxjapanxfan 28th October 2013 04:58 PM

^ Yeah I just watched on youtube and the views are pretty steady!

Ayusan 28th October 2013 06:49 PM

The girl said she will make, only the best music she is able to make ... and she come up with that .... since FIVE she got too many bad songs but nothing that made me feel so ashamed for her. After 15 years this the only thing she is able to record?

That some fans can find it fun, catchy... ok why not, though personally I find it annoying like hell, but that's taste. Speaking from a musical education point of view, quality wise it's just garbage. And it's not what you would expect from a 15 years old long career!

TK can make dated things but can pop up with some nice things, there the fact it sounds dated isn't even the problem, it's just a bad song, with bad composition, arrangements, ....
In fact it's what I would expect from a brainless fresh idol, something composed in 5 minutes, recorded in less time but not something for Ayumi Hamasaki and that's shame.

She got fun songs but not something as bad than this. I don't get her. Why not so long ago we could feel the hard work and now it's like she doesn't give a damn about quality ( although that the first thing she should focus on as a pro that sells her work) and just throw whatever happens to be recorded.

But if she really thinks she recorded a good song (the best music she can pull off after 15 years) then I wonder what happened to her after Love songs release, and for me it starts with FIVE.

Earth_maiden 28th October 2013 07:31 PM

^I don't think Ayu needs or wants you to feel ashamed for her...

Mari-chan 28th October 2013 08:03 PM

I really don't understand why people make so much trouble about that single. Maybee.. it is not her best single... maybee it sounds cheap or what ever. But well.. she made greate music since 15 Years.. so why not let her make a single, she wanna make.. even if it is not a good one.
We don't know, what merry go round will sound like.. or pray.

Considering she is a popstar... mission acomplished.

heymrdj 28th October 2013 08:51 PM

Who cares if it's Dj Hello Kitty's first job? M was Ayu's first composition and it's a masterpiece! They were lazy, that's it. She might be getting her fame back with this, but there's no way she's getting more respect as an artist.

Go to bed ! You are tired !

I don't understand why some of you are so critical. Until you have the power and knowledge to do something similar or better you should be more carefull with you words. If you are good then prove it. Today, in this world everybody have to say something bad about someone but they should look in the mirror first.

truehappiness 28th October 2013 09:19 PM

Composing is pretty different from arranging/producing. Ayu has only it once in her career with WONDERLAND.

I feel like fans need to stop acting like whatever recent release is what she's going to be making for the rest of her career. That's not what Ayu is like or has been like at all. Even though we've gotten phases where she makes mostly rockish stuff or mostly medium, usually that ends or she puts something that is a bit different on the album.

Neko★munication 28th October 2013 10:06 PM

^ I kinda have to agree with that last part. I swear, sometimes the sweeping generalizations Ayu fans make based on new releases make me wonder if short-term memory loss is rampant among the fanbase :P

she just jumped on what's popular right now or what's popular right now somehow colided with what she's liking at the moment and here we have it. Music is like fashion it comes in waves of a popular style.

personally i think the composing part, the melody is very nice, the thing that bugs me is the megh arangement. It could have been a great piece of work.

I think for the most part people who ahve been fans for more than 3 years are harder to be impressed with the work a singer releases. I too, noticed, that new stuff gets my attention for at the most a month then i just get borred, or go back to the stuff i love lol

truehappiness 28th October 2013 10:43 PM

I don't think you have to be a new fan to be into what Ayu's been doing. Some people have been fans for the last decade or more and they like this song and other recent releases quite a bit!
