I'm not a fan of the song, or Namie, but I hope this will give Crystal a little more relevancy than she's been experiencing lately. Although, I have to wonder, does this mean Namie's relevancy is declining?

I thought it would a lot more hard hitting based on the covers, but I do like the sound of it. I honestly would have preferred it to just by CK but it will be good exposure.

^I loved VIVID! Delicious Friday, Forever, What we do, Come back to me, so many good tracks! Of course it did very poorly sales wise, but that's not too surprising, unfortunately. I'd love a VIVID part 2~! :D

I never really liked Crystal Kay's music but VIVID is amazing. Forever, Take It Outside, Come Back To Me, and Superman are my favorite tracks.

VIVID is an incredible album! I still have it on pretty regular rotation, and I know the lyrics to every single song by heart. It's a crime no one in Japan was listening to the album.

Vivid is better than albums being released now lol. It's really a Jpop gem. I'm going to defend it forever.

they are a little bit more focusing on Crystal...well..this is her featuring Namie...so that's expected...

what I like about this collaboration is that Crystal not loosing herself to Namie even though their current popularity status is kinda far apart..but Crystal still leading this collaboration to her style..the dance movement not really Namie-esque...the song itself is really Crystal...very different when Namie collaborate with Jolin...the song, the dance everything is so Namie-esque...

I don't know if anyone reported, but the collab single reached #6 on its first week, and #22 on its second week. Pretty good for CK imo.

Well after listening to the album...I'm not really feeling it too much and I think Vivid is miles better.

I think #HEARTMELT will be the least liked song by people, but it was the only new song I really enjoyed.

^ I loved #HEARTMELT! I haven't finished listening to the album yet (and won't be doing that before tomorrow), but it's the best track so far! And SO MUCH BETTER than the other new collaboration song, that guy's voice was HORRIBLE.

You could tell by the covers this album would be nothing like VIVID which had a lot of fierce and upbeat songs. This one is filled with poppy mellow music.

I didn't expect it to be better than VIVID because that album is the definition of perfection but it's not that bad, it's just forgettable.

Hopefully it'll do better than VIVID even though it's not as good. She deserves the love!

Shine debuted at #8 on Tuesday, then held steady at #9 on Wednesday.

This is pretty good for Crystal with everything considered! Hopefully she sells 10k in the first week.

I'm happy to see her in the top 10 (where VIVID belonged...). Still hanging at #9. I'm also hoping she breaks 10k. This album might not be all that, but she deserves it.

And completely unrelated but also interesting: I came across this interview where Crystal Kay discusses her background, cultural identity, career, brief stint in the USA... It can get annoying to listen to, since they apparently thought it appropriate to record this with poor equipment in a busy coffee shop, but I really liked hearing her thoughts! I didn't know she was managed by her mom for a long time in her early career, kudos to her mom for doing all that! The way she described the progression of her Japanese career was interesting (she seems to feel like her career was helped along by Hikki and MISIA making r'n'b big in Japan, and she talks about "a more pop-py song" [Koi ni Ochitara, which she doesn't even mention by name, lol] becoming big and kinda altering the course of her career a little). She also talks about her attempt to hit the US music market, and while it's a little sad to listen to her talk about the failure, I think it shows nice maturity and self-reflection that she's able to analyse what went wrong and move on with her life.

I think this album will be worse than Shine. Not that I dislike Shine but it's kinda bland and I despise Sakura and Forever Young.

Shine was a mess, but still it is nice to see her with new album. But VIVID was my best album from her.

She'll never top Call me Miss... and ALL YOURS. These two are masterpieces.

I have to say that interview was both wonderful and intriguing. It's great to hear her express her feelings on her Japanese career. I've always been curious about her feelings being someone who although mixed, visually reads as a Black woman. That alone and her success in a very homogenous country gives her a unique perspective. It's a shame her U.S. career never took off, because vocally she is a beast. She can legit outsing many of these girls dominating the chart right now.

I lean more towards her Sony material, but her Universal Japan songs are fine for the most part.
